Chapter 9
Skill Evolution and the Strange Dungeon
Today, after having breakfast, I headed toward the vast forest in the West to learn more about my skills.
After about four hours of exploring the outer forest, a familiar voice echoed once more.
- Analysis skill has reached Level 4, evolving into 'Analysis <Low>: Level 4'.
Thus, I could upgrade Analysis by continuously analyzing targets.
I continued using Analysis on everything in sight. Toward the end of the afternoon, that voice echoed again.
- Analysis skill has reached Level 5, evolving into 'Analysis <Low>: Level 5'.
- Requirements met: Analysis skill automatically evolves. Acquired 'Analysis <High>: Level 1'.
"Huh?"
I was surprised by the evolution of my skill. Still not understanding what had happened, I opened my status board to take a look.

Seeing the changes on my status board, I was highly confused because it had reverted from level 5 to level 1, but the skill 'Analysis <Low>' had changed to 'Analysis <High>'. Still not understanding what was happening, I had the idea to analyze my unique skill.
[Absolute Disassembly: A personal skill of Kagigata Sechi, passive skill. Increases experience gained by 50%, obtains 30% of the enemy's stats upon defeat, grants a chance to acquire the target's skills and equipment upon defeat, increases item drop rate from monsters. Has a 0.1% chance...]
"Wow, the Analysis skill is working much better than yesterday! Wait a moment!"
"What kind of skill is this? Acquiring all skills and equipment, increasing drop rates? This is definitely a cheat! If someone else possessed this skill, they would become extremely powerful. However, the one who possesses it is me—the one bearing the vocation of "The Worthless One"—so the skill itself will be greatly weakened."
Though happy, I felt saddened that I was still weaker than an ordinary person. A silent atmosphere enveloped the entire forest.
Just as I was about to head back to the inn, I spotted a green-skinned, skinny, short creature. Yes, it was a Goblin.
I pulled the steel dagger from my bag, assumed a stance, and lunged to attack the Goblin. The Goblin was caught off guard and, before it could defend itself, I stabbed it in the leg. It collapsed, and I spun around to plunge the dagger into its chest.
After about a minute, the Goblin stopped breathing. I stood up, panting heavily. This monster was only slightly stronger than a Smile, yet it was this difficult to defeat.
- Level Up.
Thus, I had reached Level 3. I was about to open my status board, but then I spotted another Goblin running into the forest, heading in the same direction the Goblin I had just killed was facing.
Curious, I began to track the Goblin. Gradually, I saw stronger monsters gathering in the same direction. I tilted my head in curiosity.
Fortunately, I was quite far from them, so they did not notice me.
The sky had turned dark, yet I continued to follow the monsters. Venturing deep into the forest, I saw a cave that looked like a dungeon in this world.
All the monsters were entering that place. Having an ominous feeling, I was about to head back, but then I heard the sounds of battle echoing from the dungeon—the clashing of swords and the roars of some monster that made the ground shake.
Gulping, I slowly stepped into the dungeon, one step at a time. I saw no sign of any monsters, only puddles of monster blood.
"So someone just entered and wiped out all the monsters, and they are currently fighting on the lower floor. But why did the monsters from the forest enter this place?"
I curiously gradually descended to the lower floors. By the time I reached about the 20th floor, the sounds of battle grew louder. "RAH... RAH..." Earth-shaking roars echoed, forcing me to cover my ears.
Stepping forward a bit, I saw a colossal monster and countless other monsters attacking a group of about seven fully equipped people. However, three people had already fallen injured (not dead), and the remaining four were struggling to fight that monster and hundreds of others—a scene akin to a battlefield.
I tried using Analysis on the colossal monster.

"Huh? What on earth are these stats?"
A terrifying monster stood right before my eyes. This monster was exceptionally strong, its stats were sky-high, and it possessed powerful skills.
The humans were at a major disadvantage.
"Hah---hah..."
A familiar voice echoed. I looked closely at the group.
"Aren't those the summoned 'Heroes'?"
I was astonished by what was unfolding before my eyes. The four heroes were struggling against the monster's power. They were heavily injured, yet they were still protecting the people behind them.

A few hours earlier (Aruto's perspective)
Today, we were to enter the dungeon under the guidance of Ewat, captain of the Royal Knights, and Tado, captain of the Royal Mages, who served as our supervisors.
With the guidance and assistance of the two captains, this hunt would be easy.
The location was a dungeon deep within the forest west of the capital, consisting of twenty floors with mid- and low-rank monsters.
"Today's conquest will be easy, won't it, Aruto-kun? After all, we are Heroes."
"It certainly will be."
Afterward, we headed toward the forest. After about an hour of traveling by Royal carriage, we arrived at the dungeon entrance.
Alighting, we discussed our battle plan. Though in truth, I did not care much since I already possessed this broken power; mid- and low-rank monsters could do nothing to me.
Entering the dungeon, the first few floors only had low-rank monsters, which I did not even want to slash. After about a week here, my companions and I had grown much stronger under the training of the two great commanders and our inherent strength.
After about three hours of diligently clearing the labyrinth, we finally reached the final floor.
"Hmph... The Boss is an A-rank Demon Serpent? Good, we shall finish it."
After defeating the Boss, we claimed the rewards for conquering the labyrinth and prepared to leave. But as we turned toward the exit, I noticed a transparent red stone embedded deep within the wall. Following the battle with the Boss, a portion of the wall had shattered, revealing the stone.
"Captain Ewat, what is that stone?"
"Hmph... Ah, perhaps it is a type of gemstone used for jewelry."
"Emi, do you want that stone?"
"If possible, it looks quite beautiful, so I would like to use it for jewelry."
I leaped onto the wall, touched the stone, and pulled it out. Landing, I handed it to Emi, but the stone shattered and vanished into the air.
A massive black magic circle, the size of a room, appeared before us. Sensing danger, everyone retreated. The magic circle began to summon something, and we drew our weapons.
From the magic circle, a colossal spider emerged. I used Analysis on it; its name was Dark Spider, with unbelievable stats. "RAH... RAH..." It screeched and lunged toward the escape exit, blocking our path and preventing us from escaping.
"Everyone be careful, it is exceptionally strong!"
Ewat shouted. I also realized this and prepared for battle. It suddenly roared, "RAH-RAH...", causing everyone to tremble, yet they maintained their battle-ready expressions.
The two captains and the supervisor rushed forward to attack and protect the front line, commanding all seven of us to attack the spider.
Blocking its ferocious attacks, with its legs acting as weapons that could easily slice through stone, along with powerful magic, we found it highly difficult to defend.
Suddenly, it screeched, and countless monsters abruptly flooded into the room, catching the other three off guard and attacking them. Following that, the spider fired countless ice spikes toward them. Fortunately, I managed to protect them with the Holy Sword. However, they were still struck by its powerful legs, sending them crashing into the wall, their armor heavily damaged.
"Isuka, heal them!"
Hearing Aruto's shout, Isuka ran toward them and cast recovery magic to save them. Meanwhile, the remaining two and I attacked the spider and the horde of monsters. However, we were no match for that spider and the hundreds of magic beasts that kept rushing in.
Gradually growing exhausted, my attacks became heavy and difficult. Suddenly, the spider spat silk behind us, capturing Isuka and pulling her rapidly toward it. Distracted for a second by Isuka's capture, the other two and I were blown into the wall, our legs frozen.
Isuka was on the brink of death before the legs that were about to pierce through her. Suddenly, a weapon plunged into the spider's abdomen, causing it to screech, "EC... EC".
A human silhouette leaped onto the spider's head, forcing it to release Isuka and stumble backward.
To everyone's shock, that silhouette belonged to the worthless Kagigata Sechi.

Returning to the present (Sechi's perspective)
I observed Aruto and the other two fighting the spider, while Isuka was healing the three injured people who had been attacked by the spider over there.
Aruto's strength was rapidly depleting, as was that of the other two, so they could not hold out against the spider and the horde of monsters much longer. But after observing for a moment, I noticed that the spider had a weakness on its abdomen.
From my angle, I could throw my dagger at that weakness, but I had little interest in saving those who had bullied me.
Suddenly, the spider spat Steel Thread, wrapping around Isuka who was in the rear. Because she was focused on healing the other three, she could not dodge in time and was rapidly dragged toward the spider. Aruto and his companions were struck by the spider's leg, sent crashing into the wall, their lower bodies frozen.
Before my eyes was the girl waiting to be pierced by the spider's powerful legs.
"Tch..."
I clicked my tongue, then threw the steel dagger in my hand into the spider's weakness, causing it to screech, "EC... EC", and rushed out to save Isuka.
To everyone's surprise, I shouted:
"THE SPIDER'S WEAKNESS IS ON ITS ABDOMEN!"
Hearing my shout, Aruto shattered the ice, rushed behind the spider, and slashed at its abdomen, making it unable to stand.
But it still gathered its remaining strength to swing its leg toward Isuka—a strike that was impossible to evade. Suddenly, I was pulled by her toward the incoming leg, and "Thwack..."
I was struck by the spider, the sound of my chest armor shattering echoing aloud, along with the tearing of my flesh. I was struck with immense force toward the wall. I crashed into the wall, my body in excruciating pain—a pain I had never experienced before. Slashed across the chest, fresh blood poured out, and my equipment and items fell out, mixing with the blood. Fortunately, I possessed a physical damage reduction skill, otherwise I would have died instantly.
But the spider did not stop, even though it could no longer move. It was gathering energy in its abdomen, causing it to glow. Sensing an extremely powerful magic being cast, Aruto grabbed me and threw me toward the spider, causing me to crash into its glowing abdomen.
The magic within the spider's abdomen went out of control due to my impact. Its body exploded, blowing the entire room apart. Everyone was protected by the Holy Sword, except for me.
After the explosion subsided, my body was heavily devastated, yet a sliver of consciousness remained.
"A guy like him living only wastes space. Serving as meat armor for the hero is already a great honor, so he should be thanking us."
"For someone like him to sacrifice himself while fighting alongside the hero is a great privilege."
