Chapter 2
Not Collecting Your Homework
Ji Yue didn't know why he hadn't slept well all night. He sat at the table, drinking milk while munching on a sandwich.
Father Ji sat on the sofa reading the newspaper with his glasses on, turning a page every now and then at a speed so fast Ji Yue thought his old man was a genius who remembered everything he read.
"Dad, are you reading the words or practicing page-turning?"
The genius let out a cough, glanced at Ji Yue, and then turned back to continue reading his newspaper.
Mother Ji walked out of the kitchen wearing a pink apron, smiling gently as she said, "Stop talking nonsense, hurry up and eat so you can go to school."
Ji Yue nodded, but his eating speed remained as slow as ever.
"How is Little He adjusting to school?"
Ji Yue thought for a moment and replied, "Quite well, he even made a friend (Lan Yunjie)."
"That's good. I don't need you two to study well, as long as you're happy." Mother Ji let out a soft sigh and said with a smile.
Ji Yue extremely agreed.
Father Ji snorted coldly. "Then you go to the parent-teacher meeting for him."
Hearing this, Mother Ji smiled sweetly at Father Ji, making him silently turn his head away.
"I'm full, going to school now."
Flirting at their age, how sickening.
Ji Yue calmly stood up, went upstairs to grab his bag, and walked out the door.
Changning No. 1 High School was recognized by City A as the best public high school, with a strong teaching staff and excellent facilities.
Many wealthy families would fight tooth and nail to stuff their mischievous children in here. But this school had its own status, didn't care for those pennies, and wouldn't accept students with poor academic records.
Of course, except for the extremely wealthy.
The school required students to arrive for morning self-study at seven o'clock. Except for the rich kids who only went to school for show, everyone else was present by six-thirty.
When the teacher arrived, the group of rich kids was already in their seats, with only the corner seat in the very back being empty.
And the owner of that seat was currently yawning while waiting for the traffic light two hundred meters away from the east gate, extremely law-abiding.
In the classroom, Jiang You lowered his head, his eyelashes trembling slightly, his slender fingers holding a pen to doodle on his books. But today, his attention was constantly directed toward the door.
Ji Yue entered the classroom through the back door. Just as he sat down, the bell for the end of class immediately rang.
He glanced at the time on the phone in his bag; he could just sleep for a bit.
The pillow specifically used for sleeping was stuffed inside his desk drawer. Just as Ji Yue pulled it out, a shadow suddenly appeared.
Ji Yue looked up and raised an eyebrow. "What? I didn't do my homework."
Jiang You opened his mouth and closed it again, hesitating for a moment before pursing his lips and saying, "Not collecting your homework."
Ji Yue nodded in confusion.
After saying that, Jiang You immediately turned and left. Ji Yue didn't know if it was his imagination, but his body seemed a bit stiff.
Weird.
Ji Yue guessed it was because he had saved Jiang You that he behaved this way, but it shouldn't be to this extent. Ji Yue thought randomly and then slumped on the desk to fall asleep.
"Sleeping when you can, as expected of my Brother Ji!"
During the break between classes, Lan Yunjie dragged Jiang He to Ji Yue's classroom, looking at him with admiration.
Jiang He nodded in complete agreement.
"I was actually planning to tell Brother Ji some news." Lan Yunjie suddenly felt a bit down, his brightly colored hair seeming to lose its luster as well.
"What news?" Ji Yue opened his eyes, completely devoid of sleepiness.
"Eh, Brother Ji is awake?" Lan Yunjie was startled, then became excited again.
"Mm."
In reality, Ji Yue had only slept for a short while before waking up, but he was too lazy to move. Just as he closed his eyes to rest, he heard Lan Yunjie's loud voice in his ear.
Lan Yunjie pounced next to Ji Yue, looking like he had earth-shattering news. "Brother Ji, things are about to change!"
"The principal is about to be promoted. I heard the new principal is a female Alpha."
Ji Yue calmly leaned to the side and asked seriously, "Does that have anything to do with us? Will we stop playing on our phones and sleeping when the new principal arrives?"
A single sentence woke the dreamer.
Indeed, the new principal's arrival had nothing to do with rich kids like them.
Unfortunately, Ji Yue's logic was crushed by their homeroom teacher.
The homeroom teacher was an odd man.
Whether it was the wrinkles on his face, his stature, or his completely hairless head, he looked exactly like Maitreya Buddha, and when he smiled, he seemed to radiate a halo.
But one shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
For instance, his mother used to be a gang leader, and Teacher Li had once followed his mother to venture into the underworld.
"Ji Yue, you know, our class has always been ranked first or second from the bottom among the experimental classes."
Ji Yue nodded.
"Back then, I told you all that when the new principal arrived, there would be big changes. So, you should start correcting your habits."
Ji Yue nodded "seriously."
"Don't let it go in one ear and out the other, Ji Yue."
Ji Yue nodded again, then let out a yawn.
Teacher Li was a gentle Beta. He laughed heartily and said, "Tired? Your mother and I have discussed this. During this period, you won't be allowed to play on your phone; you must study properly."
"Don't make me lose face every single time." Teacher Li patted Ji Yue's shoulder, speaking in an extremely gentle voice, "If your score on this monthly exam isn't good, I'm afraid you won't see your phone for the next year and a half."
"Understand?"
The last two words carried a hint of a smile. Ji Yue saw the threat hidden behind that smile and shut his mouth.
Teacher Li had also been through Ji Yue's age. He sighed, "Don't hold a grudge against me. I only want what's best for you. When you enter society in the future, you'll understand my painstaking efforts."
Sounds so nice, Ji Yue thought.
When you dyed your hair in the Smart style and ran wild outside with my mother, did your teacher also advise you like this?
Fortunately, Teacher Li couldn't read minds. After saying what needed to be said, he left happily.
In the classroom, the row of top students in the front, led by Jiang You, was engrossed in studying. In contrast, the atmosphere in the back row was much more relaxed.
Lan Yunjie was Ji Yue's number one lackey, and no one could shake his position, but the position of number two lackey had been coveted by others for a long time.
Many Alphas came over to flatter Ji Yue.
"Brother Ji, National Day is coming up. Where do you plan to go play?" The Alpha sitting in front of Ji Yue, Sun Hou, was tall and was the physical education representative.
Ji Yue leaned against the back of his chair, looked up at him, thought for a moment, and said casually, "Nowhere, staying home to study."
As soon as he finished speaking, the group of Alphas eyeing the number two lackey position were all stunned.
Then they burst into loud laughter.
"Brother Ji, has National Day become this boring?"
"Hahaha, Brother Ji, your plan is quite something! You're so cool, Brother Ji!"
Ji Yue sneered, "Alright, laughed enough? Then stop crowding around here, get lost, the noise is giving me a headache."
The lackeys obediently dispersed, but they whispered as they walked away, none of them believing Ji Yue would actually stay home to study this National Day.
Let alone them, even Ji Yue didn't believe it. He had just said it casually; he wasn't the studious type.
Ji Yue clicked his tongue. Every family has its own skeleton in the closet. Don't look at how his mother was always smiling; she cared a lot about her reputation in front of her former lackeys. Otherwise, why did his father have to go to the parent-teacher meetings every time?
It was all out of fear of losing face in front of her old subordinates.
Maybe he would be interrogated when he went back this time.
But no matter what, it couldn't stop Ji Yue from wanting to look at his phone.
No matter how Ji Yue struggled between reality and his thoughts, when the bell for the end of school rang, his day of slacking off ended again.
On the other side, also at the end of school, Jiang You took off his glasses and put them in their case. The clean lens cloth was folded neatly, fitting perfectly into the case, showing his obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The boarding students of the school would go to eat dinner and then return to the classroom for evening self-study. The day students didn't have evening self-study and could go home after school.
After school, the classroom became noisy. The students in the front rows put their arms around each other's shoulders to go out to eat, while the back rows quickly packed their bags to run home, shouting noisily.
Jiang You couldn't blend into such a lively scene at all. His cold aura made other Alphas, Betas, and Omegas unsure of how to approach him.
Jiang You was also used to it.
The noisy sounds gradually faded. Jiang You withdrew from the crowd, carrying his schoolbag alone as he walked through the small alley near the school.
Halfway through, the zipper of Jiang You's collar, which had been pulled up high, unzipped at some point. His cautious, cold aura became loose and casual, his eyes carrying a hint of fierce wildness. He muttered mockingly.
"Go to class my ass."
"All they know is study all day. This time belongs to me now."
"So I'm going to run wild."
Jiang Qi stretched. Next, it was time to deal with those Alphas who needed a beating.
