Chapter 4
The Discouragement Ghost's Touch
His robe seemed to contain a wildly fluttering bird; Qi Gu's heart pounded.
That heart-thumping sensation arose again, as if something invisible was squeezing it, yet at the same time, a gentle tingling sensation spread.
Qi Gu instinctively pressed his hand against his heart, which was beating like a small bird, his tone very urgent, as if a train was about to depart and he was in a hurry: "That's good then!"
【Oh…… Whispers' reaction, it doesn't feel like he has no intentions at all】
【One eye open, not much, commonly known as, a clueless blockhead】
【Hehehe, covering his chest and all, is his heart beating too fast!】
【With Zhi Zhi's offensive like this, it's hard not to be moved, right? After all, Zhi Zhi not only has maxed out looks and wealth, but is also a Green Tea, who can refuse a Green Tea whose eyes are full of only you?】
【How does that idiom go again, you don't like Green Tea because he doesn't like you……】
【Lu Xun: I really didn't say that】
Qi Gu didn't turn his head, lifting his feet to pass through the winding corridor, very much like being chased by a fierce beast, his steps quickly leading him to the main entrance of the main house, which was a deep red.
The candlelight inside the door was dim—lit by the scenic area staff before they left. The candlelight was enough to illuminate a square inch where there was a small table and two armchairs on either side.
To the left was a bed, to the right, near the courtyard, was a small window, and beneath the window was an antique dressing table, presumably where Mo Zhou's mother used to get ready.
The furnishings in the room were nothing special, but considering that the Acting Ghost was an unconventional ghost, Qi Gu was not in a hurry to leave. He walked around once and then stood by the main door, waiting intently.
Jiang Hao Jie walked in the middle of the group, keeping a distance from all the furnishings. He had no interest in Mo Zhou's parents' room, and his body was aching terribly, making him groan in misery. He no longer even had the strength to hinder Qi Gu.
This General's Manor... was truly not very clean. He should have known not to come.
As for Qi Gu saying "the unclean one is himself," Jiang Hao Jie naturally didn't hear a word of it. Someone as self-centered as him, an abuser, would never find the cause within himself.
"Meow." The Ghost Cat suddenly meowed.
Jiang Hao Jie's attention was drawn by the sound, and he instinctively looked up towards the window.
The window was propped open with a wooden stick, revealing the lonely night outside the courtyard, along with the vague silhouette of dark tree branches.
This scene truly had a poetic quality. Jiang Hao Jie raised his phone, deciding to capture it.
With a click, the window scene was photographed.
Jiang Hao Jie clicked to open the thumbnail, carefully looking at the photo he had taken, then upon opening it, he was so scared he almost dropped his phone. He saw that outside the window, there was no one, but at some unknown point, half a head had appeared, gloomily and chillingly pressed against the window.
Jiang Hao Jie instinctively looked up at the window; it was empty.
His abnormality caught everyone's attention, and they asked him what was wrong.
Jiang Hao Jie knew that in the eyes of the viewers, he was already half-mad, so he didn't dare to add another brick to that perception, only saying, "Nothing."
It must just be another illusion; after all, he and this General's Manor didn't get along.
After Jiang Hao Jie finished speaking, he aimed his phone at the window again, intending to take another picture.
This time, he deliberately looked carefully at the window several times, confirming there was nothing unusual, only then pressing the shutter.
His trembling fingers clicked to open the image, and his breath almost stopped, a chill crawling from the soles of his feet to his brain.
Just now it was only half a head, but now, revealed outside the window, was half a pitch-black shadow!
The shadow showed no discernible clothing, just a blurry black mass, as if steeped in ink. The candlelight in the room seemed unable to illuminate any part of it.
Jiang Hao Jie looked up at the window again: Still completely empty.
An illusion, it must be an illusion.
Jiang Hao Jie thought this, quickly retreating several steps, returning to the crowd, the short hair on his forehead already soaked.
Qi Gu looked at the Ghost Cat, which shrugged, indicating it wasn't its doing.
It had originally wanted to scare Jiang Hao Jie a bit more, but who knew that just as it was getting sleepy, something wanted to use its head as a pillow. It then conveniently leaned by the window and meowed, attracting Jiang Hao Jie's attention.
Qi Gu intuitively felt that after all the commotion in this General's Manor, they hadn't encountered anything truly terrifying yet, and now it was time.
He said, "Everyone, stay away from the window."
When he spoke, it was no different from an imperial edict in the show. Everyone quickly retreated towards the main house's bed cushions, creating distance from the half-open window on the right.
Qi Gu walked against the flow of people, Lan Han Zhi following behind him.
"What did you photograph just now?" Qi Gu asked Jiang Hao Jie.
"Well, the first time was the back of a head, the second time was half a human shadow leaning against the window." Jiang Hao Jie finally realized that all of this was not an illusion, but real!
In other words, he had just photographed that ghost twice!
In all kinds of movies, people like him are always the first to die.
Jiang Hao Jie retreated further, making everyone shield him. As he retreated, he suddenly felt a chill from behind, and a gust of wind blew—He looked back in surprise, directly facing the half-human black shadow standing by the window!
The window... The main house also had a window on the left, but it was covered by a bed curtain, so no one had noticed it.
A cold hand pressed on Jiang Hao Jie's shoulder, using no force, yet enough to make Jiang Hao Jie unable to resist. He was like a pile of mud, and with that hand's touch, his entire body went limp, about to be dragged out the window.
【Ah ah ah ah ah oh my god, my friend told me this episode wasn't scary at all and very lively, that's why I came to watch!】
【It's certainly very lively... What exactly is outside the window?】
【Suspected to be a touch that made Jiang Hao Jie lose all his strength and will to fight】
【Save me, why was there another hidden window behind!】
【This kind is the most terrifying, being attacked in the place you thought was safest】
Qi Gu reacted extremely quickly, "Get away."
The Ghost Cat hadn't finished its revenge yet. If Jiang Hao Jie died so decisively now, the Ghost Cat wouldn't be able to reincarnate without completing its revenge.
A precise spiritual light accurately struck away the half-human black shadow. Jiang Hao Jie awkwardly slid to the ground, now not only in pain all over but also completely exhausted.
Qi Gu's expression became several shades more serious, and his speaking speed was no longer slow: "That's a Discouragement Ghost. Humans touched by it will instantly lose their strength and will to fight. If it's just a brief touch, they can recover after some rest. But if they are successfully dragged away by it once, that person's entire will to fight and will to live will be stolen."
【Damn, the type of ghost that the 'King of studying' fears most】
【What kind of 'salty fish' ghost……】
【Hiss, why would the General's Manor have this kind of ghost?】
【Then, what would happen if a 'salty fish' person was touched by it?】
