Chapter 5
The Circus Performance
Wizette's mood was complex and conflicted, filled with both anticipation and worry.
He hoped to have another companion, but he also worried that this special power would bring disaster to Luna.
Precisely because he had once possessed it, he was afraid of losing it.
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
Luna's incantation rang out and then faded, but nothing happened.
"This magic, I have no way of making it work, do I?" she asked softly.
In that voice, as ethereal as a dream, there seemed to be no trace of disappointment.
Wizette let out a soft sigh, shook his head slightly, and forced a smile. "That was just a spell I suddenly thought of after observing the ruins."
"Do you know about fusion magic? I wanted to try combining the Levitation Charm with other spells to create a more useful magic, but unfortunately... such an attempt seems to have failed."
"Is that so?" Luna looked straight at him, her beautiful silver-white eyes exceptionally clear, seemingly able to see through everything.
Wizette lowered his head, feeling his ears grow slightly warm. He quickly averted his gaze, reaching up to rub his earlobe.
"We still have plenty of time! You can teach me other things in the future..." Luna grinned.
"The most important thing is... no matter what happens, we are family. This will never change, okay?"
Wizette felt his throat go dry, and his nose prickled slightly.
He nodded with absolute certainty. "Of course!"
There was no need for further explanation between them; acceptance and understanding came naturally.
...
Time had moved into the evening. Although the daytime in Sweden was very long, at this moment, it seemed to be draped in a thin, orange silk veil.
After a simple rest and reorganization, Xenophilius sat on the living room chair, wiping the horn of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack.
Although they hadn't found any trace of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, bringing back its horn was still considered a harvest.
Xenophilius wiped the horn while asking, "Wizette, do you know the story of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack?"
Wizette replied, "I heard a bit from Luna before."
"Then let's talk about the horn of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack today!" Xenophilius raised the long horn, in a good mood, his eyes filled with appreciation.
"Pandora once told me that if a Crumple-Horned Snorkack truly appears, its horn will light up."
"Those with high receptivity to extraordinary things can touch the horn and call the Crumple-Horned Snorkack to their side."
"But this horn still hasn't lit up, proving that the Crumple-Horned Snorkack is not here." He stuffed the horn into Luna's backpack.
"Otherwise, I firmly believe that with my darling's ability, she would definitely be able to call the Crumple-Horned Snorkack!"
The outside grew increasingly lively. Xenophilius finally stood up, waved his hand, and said, "Let's set off! We'll watch the performance, get a good night's sleep, and continue searching for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack tomorrow!"
Under the dark sky, the magical circus stood in the center of the village, its colorful tent particularly prominent.
Accompanied by melodious and cheerful music, the curtain in front of the tent pulled open, and brilliant, multicolored lights flowed from within.
Wizette and the family followed the crowd into the tent, their gaze drawn to the brilliant, shimmering spheres of light floating around.
These spheres hovered in mid-air, occasionally changing colors, suddenly dropping into the crowd, and then abruptly soaring high, eliciting bursts of laughter.
Whether it was Luna or Xenophilius, both were watching a circus performance for the first time, their eyes filled with similar curiosity and anticipation.
Wizette's situation was slightly better. In his past life, he had watched circus performances on TV, but he had never personally been to the scene to feel the lively atmosphere.
With the appearance of the hunchbacked ringmaster, tonight's circus performance officially began. Countless spheres of light gathered in the center of the stage, illuminating the first acrobat who stepped up.
The acrobats flipped and danced in the air. With the assistance of magic and magical props, their movements were even more exaggerated, completely freeing themselves from the bonds of gravity, causing the audience to marvel constantly.
These acrobats had incredibly flexible bodies, as if they were made of paper. Not only could they fold themselves in mid-air, but they could even fold again, pressing their stomachs against their heads, which was truly unimaginable.
Not only that, but they also deliberately arranged "failed" movements, suddenly falling to the ground in a large crash and a cloud of dust, only to bounce back into the sky like springs.
Next, a flock of Fire Drakes flew to the center of the stage, followed by three clowns.
The Fire Drakes let out high-pitched growls, spewing orange-pink flames at the clowns. The clowns ran for their lives, but their bodies were surrounded by more and more fire.
It wasn't until they collided with each other that the flames on their bodies gathered, transforming into a fierce, clawed giant dragon, which in turn began to chase the Fire Drakes.
Such comical movements and performances made the audience laugh continuously, generously offering endless applause.
As the Fire Drakes and clowns left the stage, a Hippogriff descended from the sky, carrying a clown on its back.
That clown was extremely restless, jumping around on the beast's back, occasionally slipping. Just when it seemed he was about to fall to the ground, he was caught by the Hippogriff...
As one performance after another ended, even the sky grew completely dark. Peering through the occasionally fluttering curtains, one could see the night outside gradually thickening.
The main performance had arrived. The three clowns appeared on the stage once more. As they suddenly leaped into the air, three sharks instantly appeared.
Following that, giant bubbles enveloped the center of the stage.
The three sharks seemed to have returned to an aquarium, swimming freely inside the bubbles. Sometimes they swam high to pop the spheres of light, and then quickly swam back to the stage, swaying back and forth...
Amidst thunderous applause, the three sharks once again transformed back into the clowns, their faces seemingly showing a smile of relief.
The hunchbacked ringmaster appeared once more, holding a staff shaped like a spear.
His condition did not seem good. He coughed continuously, and fresh blood even sprayed onto the stage.
Wizette frowned. He vaguely felt a wave of uneasiness and immediately called out to Luna and Xenophilius, "Let's go!"
Luna said nothing more. She trusted Wizette completely. Without asking any questions, she stood up directly and grabbed Xenophilius's wrist. "Daddy, let's go!"
"Go now?" Xenophilius was stunned for a moment. Seeing Wizette's serious expression, he still nodded. "Alright!"
Right at this moment, the ringmaster suddenly burst with silver-blue light. Several rifts appeared in the center of the stage, forming a rising vortex pattern!
Wizette, Luna, and Xenophilius were still some distance from the curtain. When Wizette saw the vortex pattern, without any hesitation, he quickly clasped his hands together.
After a series of smooth hand seals, he activated a magical shield, enveloping the three of them within.
The vortex pattern diffused a blinding light, covering the entire circus. Anyone touched by the light turned into a reindeer.
When the light retracted into the vortex pattern, Wizette hurriedly pulled Luna, continuing to run toward the curtain.
The clowns, showing expressions of resistance, turned back into sharks, circling in the air, driving away the reindeer attempting to escape through the curtain, forcing them to gather on the stage.
Once a reindeer disobeyed, a shark immediately opened its bloody maw and bit it, throwing it directly onto the stage.
With several reindeer handled this way, the other reindeer could only tremble and huddle close to the stage, their eyes filled with endless dread...
