Hogwarts: Starting with Luna's Family, Striving for Godhood

Potions with Soul Attributes

Chapter 41

Potions with Soul Attributes

Snape's meticulous teaching style far exceeded the standard curriculum at Hogwarts. In medieval times, this would have been considered passing down one's entire legacy. Though his instruction was harsh, it offered a rare opportunity to touch upon the deepest secrets of magic.

Thinking of this, Ollivander shook his head with a smile. "Am I... not doing the exact same thing right now?"

Wizette tentatively asked, "Mr. Ollivander, shall I proceed then? To brew the Activation Potion? The ingredients are all processed."

Ollivander had intended to let Wizette rest for a while, but seeing his eager expression, he felt a spark of anticipation, wanting to see just how far Wizette could go. If the first attempt failed, it would naturally pave the way for Wizette to take a break, allowing Ollivander to speak on the importance of balancing work and rest. But if the first attempt succeeded...

Ollivander shook his head gently, feeling he might be overestimating the boy. Even with Snape's rigorous training, succeeding on the very first try was no easy feat... With this in mind, Ollivander made a decision, leaving only one set of ingredients on the table and setting the rest aside, preserving them within a magical field.

Having done all this, he looked at Wizette and said, "Wizette, if I instruct you step-by-step while you brew, will it be too difficult?"

Wizette confirmed once more, "Mr. Ollivander, you want me to follow your verbal instructions?"

"Is it a bit too difficult?" Ollivander coughed lightly, trying to keep his tone gentle. "If it is, I can demonstrate once first, and then you can try."

"No," Wizette shook his head. "Professor Snape has used this method before. I believe I can keep up."

"So Snape has tried it too..." Ollivander nodded. "Then let us begin! First, add three parts of Distilled Dew, heat until boiling, and then..."

Ollivander guided him meticulously, worried Wizette might not keep up with his pace. He had prepared over ten sets of ingredients specifically for Wizette to practice—a challenge he had set for himself.

Wizette was unaware of Ollivander's thoughts; his mind was entirely focused on the bubbling cauldron. He not only used his Magic Eye but also maintained absolute concentration. Following Ollivander's guidance, he added the ingredients and made adjustments based on the reactions in the cauldron. The process was not overly difficult. At least for Wizette, brewing the Activation Potion was quite manageable. Its quality would surely be very high, at least on par with the soul-soothing potion.

As the dew boiled, he added mistletoe berries to the cauldron. The magical properties within slowly released, turning the dew a milky white. Skimming off the impurities from the sides, he took oak sap and poured it in. The ivory-colored potion emitted waves of heat, and the liquid level rose rapidly, seemingly on the verge of overflowing.

Having been warned beforehand, Wizette did not panic. He lowered the heat and waved his wand, using magic to calm the turbulent potion. When glittering golden specks appeared on the surface, Wizette methodically added the remaining ingredients one by one. The cauldron underwent a fascinating transformation, as if he were adding the ingredients of a rainbow, shifting in sequence through red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple...

Two hours passed, and the brewing of the Activation Potion was nearing its end. A rainbow indeed floated on the surface of the boiling liquid. "Excellent timing!" Ollivander could not help but praise. "You actually kept up with every single step..."

"Next, add the essence of shamrock, wave your wand over the cauldron, rotate three times clockwise, then three times counterclockwise... Very good! Now, move the cauldron away from the flame, and using the rim as a boundary, trace a triangle..."

As Wizette completed the final step, the thick, rainbow-colored potion gradually turned clear. In the blink of an eye, it became a pool of transparent liquid without a single impurity. It appeared colorless and odorless, yet one could feel the abundant life force contained within.

Though several hours had passed without rest, he felt no fatigue, only an intense joy. Whether it was magic or potions, they always brought him uniquely wondrous experiences.

"A success on the very first try!" Ollivander looked even more delighted than he did, his voice brimming with joy. "Simply unbelievable!"

He took out a glass goblet, poured the Activation Potion in, and held it up like a connoisseur appreciating fine wine. Looking at the crystal-clear potion, he praised, "Beautiful! The quality is even better than I imagined!"

"Wizette, if you are interested, you can brew all the Activation Potions I need from now on."

Hearing this offer, Wizette said with some helplessness, "Mr. Ollivander, I don't have a Potioneer license yet. I'm afraid I won't be able to help you with this legally."

"A Potioneer license? Oh... I almost forgot about that!" Ollivander realized. "You would indeed need... a license of the appropriate level..."

The wizarding world maintained strict regulations on the sale of potions. Unless one engaged in illegal trade in Knockturn Alley, selling potions officially required at least a junior Potioneer license. Under normal procedures, Wizette would need to obtain the corresponding academic qualifications before he could apply for a license.

Wizette did not dwell on this issue, instead reflecting on the brewing process. When the Activation Potion was near completion, his observations through the Magic Eye had confirmed his theory—there was a certain similarity between the Activation Potion and the soul-soothing potion. Following his intuition, he pondered the potential connection between them and finally arrived at a hypothesis...

"Mr. Ollivander, does it not only give vitality to the wand wood, but also imbue the wand with soul-like properties... Is my hypothesis correct?"

"Imbue the wand with soul-like properties?" Ollivander nearly dropped his glass. "What made you think of that?"

Wizette explained simply, "I've brewed the soul-soothing potion before. Through my Magic Eye, I noticed a similarity between the two. So I wondered if the connection between a wand and a wizard exists because of this similarity—that the Activation Potion imbues the wand with soul-like properties."

"Merlin's beard! Suddenly, I feel a sense of defeat... I suppose I can't surprise you anymore," Ollivander sighed. "I had planned to wait until you crafted a real wand before revealing this to you... I didn't expect you to deduce it yourself through your Magic Eye."

Wizette smiled and said, "Mr. Ollivander, the process of wandmaking itself is already a great enough wonder to me."

He explained briefly, then returned to the matter of the Activation Potion. "Mr. Ollivander, what would happen if we altered the proportions of the different properties in the Activation Potion?"
