Chapter 3
Unexpected Awakening
The little girl curled up in her blanket, sleeping like a kitten, when she suddenly woke up with a start – this was our protagonist, Wu Deng Ming Yue. Ming Yue mumbled, "So it was just a dream. Just a dream." Ming Yue got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to take care of her personal hygiene. Ming Yue looked at the clock on her desk: 12 o'clock!!!
But she found it strange; why were the hands standing still? Ming Yue quickly opened her phone to check, and it was 4:30 AM, 4:30 AM!!! Could she have woken up so early again? Well, since she was already up, she might as well stay up. She took out her phone to text her best friend from middle school, just to pass the time. Her best friend's name was Ruan Yu Xiang Wei.
When Wei answered the phone, her voice was slurred:
"What's up, dear friend? Why are you calling me?"
"Dear friend my foot! What's with this 'you' and 'I' business? Hey, I'm bored, let's chat."
"Are you crazy? It's 4:34 AM! Let me sleep in peace. I'll have to see your face enough in college, it's already annoying, and we're even roommates."
With that, Wei hung up abruptly, making Ming Yue suddenly hate her best friend. They had been friends since middle school, and she would treat her like that. Ming Yue huffily took out a book to read and turned on the bright light. Of course, she also had to keep track of time. 6 AM was Wei's auspicious hour; Ming Yue was sure she would be up by then, and in just five minutes, she'd get a call from her.
Indeed, Wei called, whining and complaining about Ming Yue about everything. Then, finally, she suggested they go for breakfast and move their things to the dorm.
While eating breakfast, Wei asked Ming Yue:
"Why did you wake up at that hour?" – this was how they usually addressed each other.
"I dreamed about that again!" the girl said, her usual mischievous dark chocolate eyes drooping.
"Come on, just let it go. That happened a long time ago! Cheer up, the path of college is still very long!"
"You mentioning studying makes me feel so discouraged. Come on, put all that aside, eat quickly, and then we'll move our stuff to the dorm."
"Yeah, I know!"
This friend, though she seemed tough, was actually very kind. Just by looking at Ming Yue's expression, she knew something was wrong. That's why the two of them were still friends to this day.
The General University where these two studied had many different majors, but they were all taught in one building. Actually, there were two buildings: one was the building just mentioned, and the second building was built mainly to add more classrooms. The top floor was reserved for student council members. Thanks to Wei's stories, Ming Yue learned that the student council members were the children of the people who built the school. There was also information about the dorms. The dormitories (KTX) were divided into two areas. One area was for the rich kids, and the other was for the poor kids. Ming Yue and Wei belonged to the second dorm area.
What karma... such terrible karma...
Ming Yue and Wei had just entered the room when they saw... the room was so dilapidated. Only the bed and the study desk were still intact. Oh dear, they'd probably have to call a repairman soon!
Having just arrived at the room, they already had to clean it. Ming Yue wished she could be in the other dorm area. The rooms there were more beautiful than a five-star hotel. Oh, and they had a kitchen, an oven, a refrigerator. Ming Yue wished she could live there so much.
After cleaning the room for a while, Ming Yue and Wei collapsed and slept soundly.
