Chapter 3
A Strange Relationship
At noon, after eating and resting for a bit, they continued working.
Working in winter was not like summer, where one could work all day, because the summer sun was too scorching.
However, in winter, the sunlight felt warm and pleasant on the body, not cold at all.
It wasn't until the afternoon, when everyone was almost ready to pack up, that Qing Shan brought two more carts of fertilizer. Some people went to help unload it.
Wang Yong Gui didn't go. He stood by, looking at the neatly arranged rows of thin plastic film covering the fields in front of his house, a sense of joy in his heart.
However, growing vegetables didn't earn much money. The amount he wanted to earn from the stone gambling convention was not even comparable to "Ling Jiu Niu Qi Yi Mao."
Nevertheless, people always had a bit of vanity. These large plastic greenhouses proved that Wang Yong Gui had capability and a future; everyone could see it.
Of course, many people also held a hopeful mentality, waiting for him to fail, for all his money to be lost, waiting to mock him. For now, they would let him be smug for a while.
"Wang Yong Gui!"
Just then, a familiar voice called from behind. However, as soon as Wang Yong Gui heard this voice, he immediately felt his scalp tingle, and he turned around to look.
It was Zhou Da Fu, his face beaming, walking towards him.
"Zhou Da Fu, are you off today!"
Wang Yong Gui smiled and greeted him.
Zhou Da Fu nodded: "The brick factory isn't in a hurry lately, so I got two days off."
Zhou Da Fu walked over, took out cigarettes, offered one to each of the people nearby, then his gaze fell on Wang Yong Gui. He also looked at the plastic-covered fields on the dike in front of the house, neatly arranged in rows.
"Yong Gui, you're really making something of yourself now."
Zhou Da Fu couldn't help but give a thumbs-up in praise. Wang Yong Gui smiled and nodded, but his tone remained very humble.
"Not at all, just lucky to have earned a little money. Isn't this just trying to make money! No pretense here."
Zhou Da Fu looked at Wang Yong Gui, and in his voice and demeanor, there seemed to be an invisible hint of flattery. He reached out and patted Wang Yong Gui's shoulder, then spoke again.
"Wang Yong Gui, come to my house for dinner tonight!"
Hearing this, Wang Yong Gui's mouth twitched, his expression froze, revealing extreme embarrassment.
He immediately remembered the last time he went to Zhou Da Fu's house, forced by Zhou Da Fu to be with his wife, Long Min, while that fellow watched from the side, even acting out a scene of extreme anger and sorrow, saying some things.
That truly made one's scalp tingle, a bit impossible to accept. Especially in the end, after it was over, that fellow even carved a seal for Wang Yong Gui, asking Wang Yong Gui to stamp it on Long Min's back. That fellow's psychology was a bit abnormal.
This time, he was inviting him for dinner again. He wondered if he would fall into the same trap!
To be honest, Long Min was charming and seductive. Although not as beautiful, plump, and mature as Yang Qiu Ju and Su Wan He.
Their ages weren't much different; Long Min was slightly older, like an elder sister, possessing that kind of aura. Moreover, her appearance was changeable, especially her figure, with two very beautiful and attractive features from behind, and it was Zhou Da Fu's wife.
Not to mention a slight internal craving, though it wasn't good at the time, but thinking about it afterward, it felt incredibly stimulating, and he actually missed it a bit.
Indeed, men! Who wouldn't wish for such a good thing?
But Zhou Da Fu was a good friend, they had a very good relationship when they were children. In front of Zhou Da Fu, this kind of feeling was indescribable. He felt that deliberately not going would, on the contrary, create a strong sense of internal conflict regarding their friendship.
Yet this fellow, from a young age, was a bit different from ordinary people. When they were kids, taking advantage of adults not being home, several of them liked to sneak off to Qingyang Town, each spending a few yuan to buy CDs, then hiding in a locked house to secretly watch.
But this fellow was a bit cunning. He didn't know where he found the money, and later it was revealed he stole money from his parents. The content he bought was also different from everyone else's, basically about wives secretly with other men at home, or husbands watching their wives.
It might also be related to Zhou Da Fu's living environment. Zhou Da Fu's mother might not have been a good woman.
She was equally fickle, literally angering Zhou Da Fu's father to death.
These things were no secret in the village; everyone knew.
Zhou Da Fu's mother, when she was young, was quite attractive. Back then, she had an affair with the old village chief Pan Sheng Lin every day, sometimes even secretly bringing him home, and she also had relationships with several other men in the village.
When they played together, Zhou Da Fu used to say that he often saw his mother and the old village chief Pan Sheng Lin secretly in the room, and not just once.
Sometimes adults, offering a little something, would ask Zhou Da Fu exactly what happened. Zhou Da Fu, being naive, would tell them, and then those adults would joke and laugh.
After Zhou Da Fu's father died of anger, his mother immediately remarried, going to the next village. She still couldn't settle down, still secretly crossed the line with others, and then divorced again.
In the end, her looks were still decent. In the early years, there was a mountain with gold, and everyone in a team frantically went to dig for money.
Zhou Da Fu's mother met an out-of-town boss, and then the two got together. She was kept as a mistress by that boss and seemed to have earned quite a bit of money.
Later, the government took notice and began to regulate the chaotic gold and coal mines. The boss could only withdraw and return home.
It was said that he even left Zhou Da Fu's mother a house in the city.
Zhou Da Fu, although he currently had no parents, was quite wealthy. Not "very wealthy," but he lived more comfortably than ordinary people, because his mother paid for his expenses. That's why Zhou Da Fu could now marry Long Min.
As for what Zhou Da Fu's mother was doing now, no one knew. She rarely, if ever, returned home.
Some people even heard that in an alley in another city, they had seen Zhou Da Fu's mother working as a streetwalker.
Wang Yong Gui only heard about these things last time, but that was several years ago, hearing some older children in the village, who were now working outside.
They were talking excitedly, saying that they had seen Zhou Da Fu's mother since childhood, and that flirtatious demeanor was unbearable. They would go wherever they heard she could be found for money.
But Zhou Da Fu definitely had connections.
Zhou Da Fu was also promising and not afraid of hardship. He was very young when he followed his mother to work in the mines. After that job, he was now working at the brick factory to support his family and Long Min.
Long Min, a young woman, with nothing to do at home, would naturally cause trouble. Later, rumors spread about her and Ba Tong, after which Zhou Da Fu was beaten and often bullied.
After watching those films, Ba Tong would then, in front of Zhou Da Fu, go to Zhou Da Fu's house to "play" with Long Min. Zhou Da Fu's relatives couldn't stand it anymore and called many people to tie Ba Tong to a large tree and almost beat him to death. This incident has been ongoing until now.
Later, there was Wang Yong Gui's incident, with Zhou Da Fu's hints, deliberately creating opportunities for Wang Yong Gui. Then that woman seduced him, and that incident happened in the house. Zhou Da Fu entered at the right moment, then forced Wang Yong Gui to continue, and there was even the matter of the seal.
As for Long Min, they hadn't seen each other for a very long time. Wang Yong Gui was a bit unclear about the state of their marital relationship.
