Synopsis

To transform fragmentary clues into complete evidence, thereby reconstructing the full truth, he adhered to a principle: when personal feelings interfere before a case is resolved, trouble is bound to follow. Thus, he resolutely chose to remain detached, not minding if he was occasionally called cold-hearted. However, he would not give up because of it; he could even justifiably vindicate those he had once deceived, so that his tombstone might calmly bear the inscription: "This man was once a cunning scoundrel." The truth is always fraught with helplessness. For there are times when one cannot help but get deeply involved.
