Transmigrating to Ancient Times: A Farming Record

Chapter 5

"We don't have that much roasted meat. If you want to eat, go roast it yourselves!"

The beastmen clamored one after another.

"Chief, how is this meat roasted?" A clever beastman asked immediately.

He had calculated quite clearly: if he asked the Chief for roasted meat, he would only get a bite or two at most. But if he learned the method, he could eat it every day.

"This..." The Chief's voice trailed off.

The beastmen all pricked up their ears to listen.

The Chief said one sentence: "You have to ask Lin Die."

Lin Die?

Is that the small female Yang brought back?

Everyone's gaze shifted toward Lin Die simultaneously.

Lin Die immediately felt immense pressure.

She had no choice but to explain the roasting method clearly to them. The beastmen listened intently, nodding as they memorized it.

Actually, this roasting method wasn't difficult; one could master it after trying once or twice. She was only worried that if they roasted too much meat, the entire tribe's routine might be turned upside down...

At that moment, she felt something tugging at her pant leg. Looking down, she saw it was the white kitten that had pulled her pants the other day.

"Meow meow~~" The little kitten looked up, staring at her with round, wide eyes.

Lin Die squatted down and scooped it into her arms, saying happily, "You still remember me, don't you?"

"Meow~" The white cat affectionately rubbed its head against her neck.

Lin Die was so charmed by its nuzzling that her heart nearly melted. She stroked its fur and asked Yang, "What is its name?"

Yang glanced at it: "Hua."

Lin Die stroked its paws and said, "So it's a little female."

Hua squirmed in her arms, her tiny paws pointing toward the pile of roasted meat.

"Do you want to eat roasted meat?" Lin Die asked.

"Meow meow~~" I want to eat! Its little tail wiggled.

Although Lin Die was nearly defeated by this cuteness, she still looked at Yang.

"Can she eat roasted meat?"

She didn't know if the diet of young beastmen in the Cat Tribe world was subject to the same taboos as kittens in the human world.

"She can." Yang nodded and said, "Basically, whatever we can eat, the young ones can also eat, but they shouldn't eat too much."

"Oh." Hearing Yang say that, she felt relieved.

She sat on the ground holding Hua, took her own piece of roasted meat and tore it into small shreds, sharing it with Hua. They ate together, one bite for the human and one for the kitten, happily losing track of time.

The kitten ate so comfortably that its eyes narrowed into slits.

At this moment, the surrounding beastmen wished they could turn into that tiny young beast just to taste the delicious roasted meat.

Yang also wished he could turn into the young beast in Lin Die's arms!

The next morning, Lin Die went into the forest to pick fruit with Yun, Xing, and the other females.

In the primitive jungle, danger lurked everywhere, so Lin Die had to be fully equipped.

She wore gloves, a white cotton shirt underneath, and a canvas jacket over it. Her pants were also made of canvas, which was very wear-resistant. On her feet was her only pair of hiking boots.

She carried an entrenching shovel and a bamboo basket on her back containing water and food before setting off.

These beastmen had lived in the forest since childhood, so their experience was certainly much richer than hers. She didn't want to become a burden, so she had prepared very carefully.

After the roasting event last night, many females recognized her, though they had actually known about her before.

But today was the first time Lin Die officially appeared among the Cat Tribe.

Yun introduced Lin Die to everyone.

"This is Lin Die from the Human Tribe. From now on, she will be a member of our Cat Tribe."

Lin Die greeted them: "Hello everyone, my name is Lin Die. 'Lin' as in forest, 'Die' as in leaf."

With the delicious roasted meat from last night as a backdrop, the females were very enthusiastic toward Lin Die.

They didn't know what the Human Tribe was, but this wasn't strange. The world was so vast that it was normal for there to be undiscovered tribes.

Just like the Snake Tribe in a very distant place—they hadn't known about that tribe at first, only discovering their existence by chance later on.

The Snake Tribe controlled a salt lake, and it was only after discovering them that the Cat Tribe learned about salt.

Although Lin Die's Human Tribe had never been heard of, the items she brought were as strange as the Snake Tribe's salt; they must be specialties of her tribe.

Although they were curious about Lin Die, picking fruit was more important right now.

The gathering site was quite far, so they had to set off quickly.

They suppressed their curiosity and set out carrying animal skin bags.

Because the gathering site was far from the tribe, a small squad of male beastmen followed to protect them and hunt in the nearby area.

This was Lin Die's first time participating in a gathering activity. Yang was worried about her, so he had asked the Chief to let him lead the protection squad this time.

There were many young females in the gathering party, so the male beastmen were all in high spirits, showing off their bravery.

As the saying goes, "When men and women work together, the work is not tiring." With the females nearby, the hunting efficiency of the male beastmen increased significantly.

Lin Die observed her surroundings carefully as she walked.

This was an untouched primitive jungle with towering ancient trees, tangled vines, and incredibly rich resources. She hoped to find something useful, such as edible plants, precious medicinal herbs, or various spices.
