Chapter 11
The Pitiful Girl
Upon receiving the call, Wei Wen Fang was very excited, expressing that she could meet anytime.
"Tomorrow noon, we'll meet at Dong Fang Restaurant. Remember to bring your daughter. Don't reveal my identity; just say it's a gathering of friends," Jiang Han Yan instructed coldly.
This woman, Wei Wen Fang, was both pitiful and hateful. Jiang Han Yan truly wanted to teach her a lesson.
"Okay, okay."
Wei Wen Fang quickly agreed. She was at her wit's end now; her daughter had become a delinquent, which had a huge impact on her. She only hoped her daughter could return to her former obedient and clean appearance.
After being busy for several days, Jiang Han Yan was a bit tired. She went home and had a long sleep, not waking until nearly noon the next day. By then, her appointment with Wei Wen Fang was approaching. She washed up, casually changed into a dress, and went to Dong Fang Restaurant. She had reserved a private room yesterday, and the appointment was at half past eleven. Wei Wen Fang and her daughter must have arrived by now.
Private Room 302.
Jiang Han Yan pushed the door open and entered. Wei Wen Fang had indeed arrived. Sitting beside her was a girl with dyed blonde hair, looking no different from a little delinquent. A tiny black camisole, denim shorts, and flip-flops on her feet. The girl had a very good figure, tall and slender, with a small waist and ample chest. The seventeen-year-old girl had developed very well. However, she wore heavy makeup, a row of sparkling earrings on her ears, and tattoos on her shoulders and arms, looking completely like someone who mingled in society, not at all like a student attending school.
Wei Wen Fang said her daughter used to be a good student, with good grades and especially obedient. Jiang Han Yan had seen photos of the girl from before, wearing a school uniform, with her hair tied in a high ponytail, looking very delicate and clean. Compared to her current delinquent image, they were truly two completely different people.
"Miss Jiang... Miss Jiang, you're here!"
Wei Wen Fang respectfully stood up, pulling her daughter, Wei Min.
Wei Min impatiently stood up, rolling her eyes, her expression full of disdain, the typical devil-may-care attitude.
"This is my daughter, Wei Min. I've spoiled her too much."
Wei Wen Fang offered a conciliatory smile and explained. Wei Min, hearing this, glared and let out a cold snort of dissatisfaction. But Jiang Han Yan noticed a faint trace of hurt and pain in Wei Min's eyes. This was a girl full of contradictions, struggling in pain.
"Hello, Wei Min!"
Jiang Han Yan extended her hand, smiling gently.
Wei Min's expression was hesitant. After a long moment, she perfunctorily shook her hand and quickly withdrew it. That was enough. Jiang Han Yan indeed saw some images, and just as she predicted, this girl was very pitiful. And the most pitiful thing was that her mother was the accomplice.
"Let's eat first. We can talk while we eat."
Jiang Han Yan sat down, took the menu to order, and asked Wei Min what she liked to eat.
"Whatever."
Wei Min's attitude had improved slightly but was still not very polite. Jiang Han Yan didn't mind, while Wei Wen Fang kept forcing a smile, looking at her daughter with an expression that wished she could "forge iron into steel."
After the dishes were served, Jiang Han Yan didn't stand on ceremony and ate first. She had slept early last night and hadn't eaten anything this morning, so she was truly hungry. She had to eat her fill to have the strength to save people.
"This green crab is delicious. Crabs in August are very plump. Try some."
Jiang Han Yan used shared chopsticks to put half a crab into Wei Min's bowl, looking at the girl with a meaningful gaze, saying, "Only with a full stomach can you have strength. Health is a person's most valuable asset, don't you agree?"
Wei Min was too thin, just skin and bones, and her complexion wasn't good. Clearly, she hadn't eaten properly for a long time.
"Yes, yes, yes, only with a full stomach comes health. Little Min, didn't you used to love stir-fried green crab with rice cakes the most? Eat more."
Wei Wen Fang quickly echoed, also putting half a crab into her daughter's bowl. But Wei Min only ate the portion Jiang Han Yan gave her, pushing Wei Wen Fang's portion onto the bone plate. Wei Wen Fang's expression changed slightly but she immediately forced a smile, acting as if nothing was wrong, only not giving her daughter any more food after that.
"This shrimp is also very tasty. Little Min, have one?"
Jiang Han Yan picked up another large shrimp. She saw that Wei Min liked seafood, and the seafood at Dong Fang Restaurant was quite fresh and tasted good. Wei Min's mood had probably improved, as she ate quite a bit, but she remained silent, just eating with her head down.
"Little Min and I have a good connection. Coincidentally, I'm planning to go shopping for clothes. How about Little Min comes with me?" Jiang Han Yan suggested.
"Of course, Little Min, go shopping with Miss Jiang. Buy a few more decent outfits for yourself. Don't buy these indecent ones anymore; buy a proper dress to wear." Wei Wen Fang took out a stack of money and put it into her daughter's hand.
But her words carried a sarcastic undertone, and Wei Min's expression immediately changed. She pushed the stack of money away.
"What's indecent about my clothes? There are plenty of people dressed like this on the street. Do the police arrest them?"
Wei Min was like gunpowder just lit, her temper very fiery. She was not at all polite to Wei Wen Fang, completely unlike a child's attitude towards an elder.
"You argue ten sentences for every one I say. I'm your mother, so what if I say a few words to you? What's decent about this outfit of yours? What child from a good family would wear something like this?" Wei Wen Fang also flared up, pointing at the camisole on her daughter and scolding her.
Wei Min sneered, her eyes growing colder, and said mockingly, "I don't care how other people's children dress. Your child dresses like this. If you don't like looking, then don't look. You can even poke your eyes out!"
"You... are you even human? I'm your mother, you rebellious and unfilial child! Did I raise you to adulthood just to hear such beastly words?"
Wei Wen Fang was so angry she couldn't breathe, her face pale, her body trembling, her finger pointing at her daughter also shaking violently, looking as if she could faint at any moment. Wei Min bit her lip tightly, her eyes becoming weak, no longer arguing. Clearly, she still cared about her mother.
After a long while, Wei Wen Fang finally calmed down, her complexion still very poor. She gave an embarrassed smile to Jiang Han Yan, "Please forgive my rudeness."
"It's nothing. I think Little Min looks very beautiful in this outfit. You shouldn't be too strict; many young people dress like this nowadays," Jiang Han Yan said with a smile.
Aside from the tattoos, blonde hair, earrings, and heavy makeup, Wei Min's attire itself was not problematic. The camisole paired with denim shorts looked very energetic and pretty. Moreover, Wei Min had a good figure, and wearing it was truly captivating. Only the "shamatte" hairstyle and green eyeshadow were things she truly couldn't appreciate; they were a bit of an eyesore.
Wei Wen Fang gave a forced smile, "Anyway, it's still not quite proper, and Little Min is still in school; the school doesn't allow such attire."
Wei Min looked at her mockingly, not refuting, but her eyes showed even more pain. Clearly, she was deeply conflicted internally.
"It's the holidays now, so of course, she should dress up nicely. Madam Wei, you go take care of your business. Little Min and I will go shopping, and I'll bring her home when it gets dark. You can rest assured."
Jiang Han Yan didn't want to talk to Wei Wen Fang anymore; this woman disgusted her. If she continued talking, she feared she wouldn't be able to restrain herself from acting.
"I'm troubling Miss Jiang too much."
Wei Wen Fang still had work at her company and truly didn't have time, so she hastily left. Only Wei Min and Jiang Han Yan remained in the private room. No one spoke, and the space became silent. Wei Min was the first to break the silence. She stood up and said coldly, "Aren't we going shopping?"
