Chapter 5
Fire Dragon
"Zhao Yuan Huo!" Yao Long, supporting the majority of the Wood Fire Swords, saw Zhao Yuan Huo being engulfed by the great fire and couldn't help but be bewildered. If Zhao Yuan Huo were killed at this moment, Yao Long himself would surely not escape; he alone could not, with three heads and six arms, resist a group of Daoists.
The blazing red fire distorted a large area of air. Soldiers from both sides, whether Daoists or martial artists, couldn't help but retreat, as the temperature was too high to bear. Looking at the ground, which was melting, how could mortals survive? In everyone's minds, Zhao Yuan Huo was certainly dead.
The soldiers under Zhao Yuan Huo's command looked ashen, dropping their weapons, their legs losing all strength and collapsing. Yao Long grabbed his shoulder and pulled him up.
"The battle is not over yet, stand up!" Yao Long's tiger-like beard bristled. His long saber slashed down, clearing a large area of Wood Fire Swords.
The Daoists frowned. This man was too difficult to deal with. If they didn't kill him quickly, the Lian Zheng soldiers' morale would not waver. An army with undying morale was more terrifying than ever, and the key to creating such an invincible army was Yao Long.
"Lord Yao Long said, did you hear clearly or not? Get up for me! Even if you die, you must die valiantly, but you will not die, for today, you are fighting under the command of Lord Yao Long!"
"Lian Zheng soldiers, soldiers under Zhao Huo Long, do not be disheartened! It's not over until it's over; a temporary victory or defeat means nothing!"
"Thirty years of campaigning, under the leadership of Lord Yao Long, we will not lose. Stand up, soldiers!"
"Raise the Army-Breaking Crossbows high, aim at the Daoists! You shall fight for the honor of Lian Zheng!"
The Lian Zheng army's morale surged, bringing a different kind of burning sensation than the flames created by the Daoists. The flames caused no actual damage, but they instilled fear in their enemies—the flames of the Nine Fire Dragons.
Zhang Shi's premonition suddenly trembled slightly. His pupils constricted as he looked at Yao Long. Just a moment ago, he saw not a human before him, but as if he had transformed into a fire dragon with open eyes.
Yao Long was not a powerful general from the start; in terms of strength, he could be said to be not as strong as the other Nine Fire Dragons, but in terms of terrifyingness, he was number one.
Yao Long, one of the Nine Fire Dragons, also known as the Undying Dragon, became more terrifying the more he was pushed to the brink. His potential seemed to have no limits; if there was a limit, it would be the ability of the person who could push him that far.
Unfortunately, Zhang Shi and Liu Ran, two Immortal Sect elders, had inadvertently awakened a monster.
Behind Yao Long, his aura, like thick, sticky blood, was his killing intent—the killing intent of a Martial General who had campaigned on battlefields for thirty years, never once disappointing others.
One of the Nine Fire Dragons, the Undying Dragon, Yao Long, awakened!
All the Daoists shivered. For a moment, they seemed to feel a fierce beast open its eyes and stare at them. That feeling was like falling into a deep ice pit, causing despair.
Crack!
Yao Long opened his mouth wide, swallowing mouthfuls of air into his lungs. His breathing was so powerful it created a piercing wind sound. A Wood Fire Sword slashed towards him, but Yao Long acted as if he didn't see it, crushing it with a kick. The fierce flames hidden within the Wood Fire Sword, once shattered, lost their container and instantly engulfed Yao Long's body.
"Foolish!" The Daoist from Pure Yang Immortal Sect scoffed. How dangerous his aura was, yet his mind was so lacking, causing him to fall into his own trap.
The fierce flames hidden within the Wood Fire Sword were so intense that probably no one on this battlefield was not terrified. Looking at the armor, which was melting, and the rocks and earth, which could not escape their fate, a portion of the rocks and earth transformed into small volcanoes.
"Lord Yao Long!" The soldiers under Zhao Yuan Huo cried out in fear. Just a minute ago, Yao Long had valiantly boosted their morale, but now their situation instantly plummeted from heaven back into the abyss.
"Lord Yao Long is the Undying Dragon! You wouldn't understand the legend of the Undying Dragon!" An old trusted soldier under Yao Long shook his head. Suddenly, his words came true: the flames were shattered, and a figure with an extremely terrifying expression stepped out from within.
"He's unharmed?!" The Daoists were shocked. Yao Long exhaled a mouthful of white mist, bared his teeth, and with a leap of his calves, the Daoists felt dizzy, no longer seeing Yao Long's figure.
"Behind you!" A fellow Daoist urgently warned. That Daoist turned around and saw Yao Long right behind him. Yao Long leaped onto the flying sword, and with a single saber strike, the Daoist's body was severed in half.
The more injured Yao Long became, the stronger his aura grew. His long saber, corroded by fire-attribute True Essence, seemed to absorb all the surrounding fire-attribute energy, transforming it into his own power.
Yao Long's primary attribute was fire, and the Pure Yang Immortal Sect primarily focused on fire magic. Unfortunately for them, their fire magic unexpectedly became a source of power to aid Yao Long.
"Exhilarating!" Yao Long laughed loudly, stomping off the flying sword of the Daoist he had just killed. His tall figure, like a fierce beast spreading its wings in the sky, descended upon the next Daoist. His long saber swung out, reaping lives like grass.
The situation suddenly tilted to one side. In close combat, Daoists could not contend with martial artists, especially a terrifying martial artist like Yao Long.
"Get out of the way!" Zhang Shi realized the situation was dire. Most of the Pure Yang Immortal Sect's magic was fire-attribute, which was extremely disadvantageous when fighting Yao Long. He chanted a spell, and his flexible flying sword slashed towards Yao Long.
Yao Long swung his long saber, batting away the flying sword. Zhang Shi's face was grim. He controlled the flying sword under his feet to swiftly move away from Yao Long. Yao Long lost his target and fell from the air to the ground.
When Yao Long landed on the ground, a cloud of dust rose, obscuring his figure. Zhang Shi chanted a spell, and hundreds of spell arts rained down like meteors, stirring up thick dust.
Boom boom boom!
Spell arts, like meteors, continuously rained down on where Yao Long had landed. The soldiers looked furious, and thousands of arrows from the Army-Breaking Crossbows continuously pierced the sky.
Zhang Shi suffered a great loss this time. He had thought he could easily lead his fellow disciples to achieve merit and return victorious, believing that defeating Zhao Yuan Huo would be a simple end. He never expected that this Yao Long, a mortal, would be even more formidable.
His spiritual power rapidly eroded. Each spell incantation he cast relied on his spiritual power. Currently, only half of the spiritual power in his dantian remained.
No one noticed the direction of the fire that had engulfed Zhao Yuan Huo. At this moment, the flames had significantly diminished, as if being sucked dry by something.
"That hurt!" A figure stepped out of the flames, his black armor turning to ash and blowing away with the wind. Zhao Yuan Huo shook his neck and stretched his shoulders, saying that the scales on his Spirit Arm had thickened by another layer.
Fighting fire with fire against one of the Nine Fire Dragons, these Immortal Sect people must truly be foolish—that was the thought of everyone present.
The Martial Body within Zhao Yuan Huo stirred restlessly, as if wanting to shed its skin, to take another step beyond its initial form, officially condense the Martial Body, and thus break through the Heaven Ladder Realm, entering a new realm, the Martial Body Realm.
"Are you awake, old man?" Zhao Yuan Huo casually reached into the dust cloud and pulled out Yao Long.
"Not satisfied yet!" Yao Long said crazily. Although his body was severely injured, his fighting spirit was higher than ever; the more he fought, the stronger he became. In contrast, the people from Pure Yang Immortal Sect and Boundless Immortal Sect felt difficulty and wished to retreat.
Flames blazed fiercely, and two fire dragons opened their eyes to hunt. Their long, wide wings spread high, and with a single open mouth, they would devour their prey.
Zhao Yuan Huo's True Essence armor blazed with fire, and his Spirit Arm turned the color of lava. He touched a Daoist, who screamed in agony. The Daoist robe on him was incinerated by the fire, revealing foul-smelling flesh inside, which instantly burned black into charcoal. Zhao Yuan Huo pulled, and the Daoist's arm fell off.
After pulling, not a single drop of blood flowed, because the heat of the Spirit Arm itself had incinerated the fresh blood vessels within him. Zhang Shi snorted coldly, his flying sword returning to his hand. A yellow talisman glowed, sharply slashing at Zhao Yuan Huo's head.
Beneath Zhao Yuan Huo's feet, a layer of earth and rock sank. This was due to another Daoist from the Boundless Immortal Sect chanting a spell. In an instant, Zhao Yuan Huo's lower body was swallowed by the earth.
"Good!" Zhang Shi praised. The flying sword seized the opportunity, unleashing a terrifying strike down on Zhao Yuan Huo's head.
This strike contained nearly thirty percent of the spiritual power in his body. Its terrifying force was undeniable, and with the added Thorn Talisman, it was considered Zhang Shi's strongest strike.
"All troops charge!" The soldiers roared loudly, and sixty thousand cavalry transformed into a surging flood.
"No!" Above, a Daoist was struck by an Army-Breaking Arrow on his flying sword. His body, caught off guard and trembling with fear, had no time to cast spells, and he fell into the sixty thousand Lian Zheng troops.
Sixty thousand cavalry swept away the Daoist like a whirlwind. A Daoist was pierced by tens of thousands of spears and trampled by tens of thousands of horses.
The Daoist's fate was utterly tragic!
