Chapter 10
Outing from the Manor
The carriage stopped in a secluded corner. Zhao Changxing pulled her down and instructed:
"You must stay close to me today."
Taking his sister out was easy, but if he didn't bring her back in one piece, his parents would definitely not let him off.
"I know, don't worry," Zhao Changge replied calmly. After all, she wasn't actually a ten-year-old child.
Looking at her "I know, stop nagging" expression, Zhao Changxing could only laugh helplessly. Since childhood, their mother had kept a tight rein on his sister, only loosening it slightly when she turned eight. No wonder she was so curious about the outside world.
"Second Brother will take you to some interesting places."
With that, he took her to the places he usually frequented, all of which were the most bustling and lively spots in Pingcheng.
Before long, the two of them had strolled through two streets.
At noon, the sun was high, and the harsh sunlight made Zhao Changge's fair skin flush with a rosy tint, looking as if it were dusted with a light layer of powder.
"It's midday. Let's go to a restaurant to eat something," Zhao Changxing suggested.
"Second Brother, are we going to our family's restaurant?" Zhao Changge asked. In her past life, even after she left, she still received a huge share of dividends from the restaurant, showing how successful the business was. She had visited the branch in the capital, but thinking back, she had never set foot in the very first shop since its opening.
"Of course, money should still be made by our own family!" Zhao Changxing replied naturally.
A moment later, the two of them arrived at the restaurant.
The first floor was packed with customers coming and going, and the waiters were busy running back and forth, showing how prosperous the business was.
As soon as they entered, the shopkeeper immediately came forward to greet them: "Young Master, you've arrived!"
His gaze unconsciously lingered on Zhao Changge a bit longer. He couldn't be blamed; this young master was truly so handsome that people couldn't help but look a few more times.
Zhao Changxing only gave a soft "Mm" and followed the shopkeeper upstairs.
Even if someone noticed them, no one dared to interfere. After all, those who could enter the private booths were wealthy and influential; no one was foolish enough to court trouble.
The two followed the shopkeeper to the third floor, entering private booth number one—this place was reserved by Zhao Changxing for his family, occupying the best location in the entire restaurant.
Zhao Changge stood by the window, looking down. The curved eaves, the bustling crowd, the carriages coming and going... What a lively scene! Placing oneself in such a place naturally filled one's heart with vitality.
Just then, a carriage passed by on the street. When she saw the driver, Zhao Changge was instantly stunned. Wasn't that... No way! How could that person appear here?
Zhao Changxing, having finished looking at the menu, turned and saw Zhao Changge lost in thought by the window. He walked over and sat beside her: "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing, just seeing how lively it is," Zhao Changge recovered her senses, smiling softly at Zhao Changxing, but her heart was still in turmoil over what she had just seen. She must have seen wrong.
"You!" Zhao Changxing tapped her forehead dotingly, then asked, "Do you want to go anywhere this afternoon?"
Hearing this, Zhao Changge thought seriously and replied, "I want to go to a bookstore to buy some books. Also... is there any place nearby that sells seeds or saplings?"
"Buying books is no problem, but seeds and saplings..." Zhao Changxing looked at her in confusion.
"I feel the courtyard at home is too empty, so I plan to plant some trees. As for flowers... I want to try growing some lately!" Zhao Changge explained. She had almost forgotten that she had her own space!
