Chapter 48
Meeting at the Academy
That empty plot of land had nothing on it; she wanted to try planting something there.
Of course, the things she planted would be things she was interested in.
Hearing her explanation, Zhao Changxing didn't find it strange either. He nodded and said, "Then after we eat, we'll go to these two places, and then head home, alright?"
"Alright," Zhao Changge replied calmly. Since they were already out, going a bit further didn't matter; she would buy whatever she wanted.
Seeing her so obedient, Zhao Changxing couldn't help but pat her head. His sister was truly too adorable.
"Smack!"
Just as this thought crossed his mind, Zhao Changxing's hand was swatted away by Zhao Changge.
"Don't mess up my hair."
"..."
A moment later, the food was served.
Looking at the table full of delicacies, Zhao Changge's eyes lit up. She quickly picked up her chopsticks and grabbed the nearest piece of sweet and sour fish.
The sweet and sour flavor burst in her mouth, making her unconsciously speed up her eating. Yet, no matter how fast she ate, her movements remained elegant.
Thus, Zhao Changxing, sitting beside her, witnessed his sister eating at an unbelievable speed, while his own bowl of rice remained untouched and the food on the table was barely half gone.
Elegantly wiping her mouth with a handkerchief, Zhao Changge smiled softly, "I'm full."
"Then let's go!" Recovering from his shock, Zhao Changxing coughed lightly and said.
Ignoring her second brother's strange look, Zhao Changge quietly followed him out.
It had been a long time since she had eaten such a good meal; she really couldn't control herself.
In the past, to maintain her figure, she didn't dare to eat freely. But now, as her body was growing, she had no intention of forcing herself.
The sky is high and the earth is wide, birds can fly freely—and so could she. She wanted to cast off the shackles that had bound her for so long and live true to herself. She was not a transmigrator who had just set foot in this era, nor was she a noble young miss imprisoned by social etiquette. She was herself.
Leaving the restaurant, Zhao Changxing took Zhao Changge to the largest bookstore in Pingcheng—Fengya Academy.
The building had three floors. The first floor was packed with books of all colors; the second floor was a place for students and scholars to read; and the third floor was special: to go up, guests had to compose a poem based on a prompt from the shopkeeper. If they passed, they could not only go up to the third floor but also leave their name on the shop's celebrity board. The top three names would even be hung on a golden board in the middle of the bookstore, visible to anyone who entered.
As soon as she entered, Zhao Changge was immediately drawn to that ranking board.
When her gaze fell on the top position, her eyes lit up—as expected of her genius eldest brother!
"Choose your books on the first floor. I'll go up to the second floor to take a look. Call me if you need anything."
At this moment, hearing the sound of debates coming from the second floor, Zhao Changxing felt an itch in his heart. He spoke and quickly ran upstairs.
Zhao Changge knew her second brother's scholarship was extraordinary, and he was particularly good at poetic couplets. Hearing people discussing poetry upstairs, how could he resist!
Smiling softly, she quietly slipped between the bookshelves and began selecting the books she was interested in.
A frog at the bottom of a well could only see the tiny patch of sky above its head for its entire life. In this life, she did not want to be that frog. What she could do now was to constantly enrich herself.
At the same time, a carriage slowly stopped in front of the academy.
"Young Master, we have arrived," a guard reminded softly.
Immediately after, the carriage curtain was lifted, and a person stepped out.
The people around turned their heads in curiosity to look.
