Chapter 4
Two Worlds
If he could do it all over again, he would never have come to the Fourth Floor even if he were beaten to death. Of course, that was only an "if." At this moment, even if he stuffed Spirit Medicines and Ability Crystals into his stomach, he still couldn't digest them. His body had lost the ability to digest, and his Ability was beginning to fade away.
The Destruction Lightning was also peeling away from his body. He couldn't see, couldn't hear, and didn't even know what the space inside the lightning looked like now. He began to reminisce about his past life. In his previous life, he was just an ordinary person, attending a mediocre university, and finding a job after graduation. Every day, he was squeezed by his boss, working desperately. Then one day, after working overtime until 2:30 AM and returning home, he woke up in this world.
His parents were still his original parents, but the world had changed. As he recalled his previous life, confusion set in. Had he died suddenly from overworking? Or had he gone home, slept, and woken up having transmigrated? His memory grew fuzzier, and he began to doubt if he had truly transmigrated. He even started to wonder if this was all a hallucination occurring in his mind as he lay dying in his old world.
Was he imagining transmigrating to this world of universal Abilities? Was he imagining having a Cheat? Or had he turned the novels he once read into a fantasy world? Which world was real—the old one or this one? At this moment, he had forgotten where he was. For a split second, he felt that Abilities and talent were all just products of his imagination. Was it to make up for the regrets of his life?
Shen Yi felt he was going crazy. He wondered if he had died suddenly in the old world or if he had died of old age. His consciousness grew dimmer, and the events of his previous life flashed by like a fast-forwarded movie. Images from when he was a toddler just learning to walk began to flicker incessantly.
"Perhaps this is my true death." This was the final thought in his consciousness. Then, he fell into eternal darkness.
If someone had been there, they would have seen two worlds appearing above Shen Yi. In one world, his old world, Shen Yi's figure appeared in an office building. In the entire building, only the room he was in was still lit. A phone sat on the desk, displaying the time: 2:30 AM. He was working hard, typing away at the computer, his mouth moving as if saying something, but no sound came out.
In the image of the other world, Shen Yi's figure also appeared. Although he was only seven or eight years old in the image, he was still recognizable. He was in elementary school, and the teacher was explaining what Abilities were and how to awaken them. He had awakened a Fire Ability, but his talent was only Grade F. Because of this, he was heartbroken and practiced desperately every day. However, there was no progress. While others could condense a fireball, he only had a tiny spark.
Time passed. He entered middle school, took the high school entrance exams, and got into a high school that wasn't particularly good. One day, his teacher told him that as he was about to enter the twelfth grade, he needed to work even harder if he wanted to succeed. If his Ability didn't reach Rank 2, he might not even get into a regular vocational school. He went home and practiced desperately. That night, as he was practicing by his bed... the time could not be displayed, but it was 2:30 AM.
In the first world's image, Shen Yi finished a pile of work on the computer and prepared to get up, grab his phone, and head home. Suddenly, his entire body collapsed onto the floor. In the second world's image, the other Shen Yi, aged seventeen or eighteen, was trying to meditate when his head suddenly lolled to the side, and he collapsed onto the bed.
Then, the two worlds began to merge slowly, like two photographs being layered together. As the two worlds merged, a faint breath appeared in Shen Yi, who was lying on the ground.
At this moment, above Jingdu, the originally clear sky suddenly turned gloomy. Dark clouds, visible to the naked eye, covered all of Huaxia. The clouds grew darker and darker until the world was plunged into darkness, as if the end of the world had arrived. A terrifying pressure filled the entire sky of Huaxia.
In a courtyard house in the capital of Huaxia, a man wearing a Zhongshan suit frowned and looked up at the sky. His sword-like eyebrows were knitted tightly together. Throughout Jingdu, high-level Ability Users appeared, looking up at the sky with solemn expressions.
At Jingdu University, Qian Huafeng and Qin Cang also sensed the changes outside. The two rushed out of the Simulation Room Building and looked toward the sky. The pressure in the sky grew heavier; the higher one's cultivation, the greater the pressure they felt.
"What is happening?" Qin Cang murmured.
"I don't know. I've never encountered anything like this before," Qian Huafeng shook his head, looking up at the sky solemnly.
The dark clouds increased, and by now, all of Huaxia was dark. The streetlights in the school turned on as if it were night. The sky above the clouds looked identical to the images appearing above Shen Yi's body, only the images were much blurrier, and no one could see them.
As the two images merged bit by bit, Shen Yi's aura in the space grew stronger and stronger. His Lightning Ability Compatibility, which had been stagnant, began to skyrocket, jumping ten points in an instant. His Ability Fusion Rate was also rising rapidly. The merging of the two worlds allowed his Abilities to fuse even faster.
When the two worlds were halfway merged, his Ability Fusion Rate reached 50%. At this point, in the outside world, the pressure became immense. Students in the university began to tremble, as if the entire world were about to shatter. Suddenly, a bolt of golden lightning appeared in the center of the dark clouds. With its appearance, the pressure reached its peak.
Qin Cang's legs were now buried deep in the soil, and Qian Huafeng was the same. The higher the cultivation, the greater the pressure felt. Many students lay prone on the ground, blood trickling from their mouths.
*Rumble!*
The golden lightning let out a massive roar, a sound that seemed to act directly upon the soul. The lightning seemed to be searching for something. Then, it headed straight for Jingdu University.
The two were terrified and prepared to resist. Qian Huafeng waved his right hand, attempting to cover all of Jingdu University. A green light screen appeared above the university, and as it appeared, the pressure lessened slightly. But it only lasted for about ten seconds before it shattered.
"Pfft!" A mouthful of blood sprayed from his mouth as he suffered a severe backlash. The golden lightning did not deviate, heading straight toward the Simulation Room.
