Chapter 40
The Great Chaotic Battle
Countless demons were attacking the spectator stands, all acting under the command of the demon standing below.
They attacked everyone without mercy. The soldiers and brave warriors were trying to buy time to allow the citizens to flee, but the situation seemed highly unfavorable.
"That is Vandread Salis, a sub-body of Vandread. Vandread is one of the generals of the Demon King, possessing extremely powerful combat capabilities," Yui said while looking at the demon below.
Perhaps the battle between the heroes and the demons had begun. Altor and the others were also consolidating their formation, standing up to prepare for battle, completely ignoring the princess who lay unconscious on the arena floor.
The battle would certainly affect her, and she might even be caught in the spells of both sides. Therefore, it seemed I should rescue her; she was a princess who had contributed greatly to the nation.
Suddenly, the demon channeled an immense amount of magic power into the stone in his hand. The stone glowed, creating a powerful aura of magic.
Sensing danger, Altor raised his Dragon Shield to block the front of the formation. As expected, a powerful beam of light shot out, heading straight for the heroes.
The beam collided with the shield and exploded, sending Altor crashing against the wall, while the rest of the heroes were blown back by the shockwave of the explosion. The explosion was blocked, but it could not completely negate the force of the attack. The blast caused the entire arena to tremble, and a massive crack split the walls in two.
On the stands, panic grew as countless explosions erupted. The demons showed no mercy, attacking everyone in sight.
As the dust on the arena floor gradually cleared, the figure of the demon could be seen stepping toward the unconscious princess.
"This human's magic power is truly formidable," he muttered with delight, his overwhelming killing intent directed at the princess.
Stepping forward, he chanted a spell, preparing for a wide-area attack.
"Great Conflagration!" he shouted after completing the chant.
"Frost Armor!" Instantly, Yui chanted a spell to protect the princess from the demon's skill.
The demon's skill detonated the moment it touched Yui's defensive barrier, causing an earth-shattering explosion.
Yui's defensive barrier remained completely undamaged, while the demon was blasted backward.
"Who is it?" he gasped in shock.
I swiftly dashed toward Vandread Salis, drawing my sword like a flash of lightning and slashing straight at him before he could react.
His armor shattered, and he leaped backward in panic, warily scanning his surroundings.
"Yui, Asp, you two handle the remaining demons!"
"Understood!" Both Yui and Asp nodded and began attacking the other demons.
"Who are you?"
I stepped out from the dust, holding the Sword of Darkness in a combat-ready stance.
"So it's you, a weak human who dares to stand in my way?"
The moment he finished speaking, he spun around to attack with his claws. I could easily dodge his strike; he could not even touch me.
Suddenly, an arrow flew past my face and his, causing me to turn around in surprise. It was shot by Iska, who showed no regard for ally or foe, caring only about her target. It was a style of combat that sacrificed comrades to achieve an objective.
If I had not dodged, that arrow would have pierced straight through my head.
Next, a sword flew straight toward where I was fighting—it was the Holy Sword. Altor had thrown it directly at me. Afterward, the sword flew back to his hand.
"I do not know your identity, but if you wish to assist us, I will consider it."
The hero party had recovered from their injuries and returned to the battle.
The demon seemed quite enraged now that he was facing a five-on-one battle. He began chanting an explosive magic into the stone in his hand.
The heroes realized this and rushed to stop him, but they were tricked. Subsequently, they took the full force of a powerful spell from the demon.
This explosive magic would likely completely destroy this place and the surrounding areas. He was channeling an extremely dangerous spell.
I quickly advanced toward him, preparing to slash him. He tried to lure me, using a trick to cast a quick-activation spell against me.
Instantly, I activated several speed-enhancing skills, slashing straight through his body before he could unleash his quick spell.
The demon turned pale and checked his body, but he was unharmed. He began to laugh maniacally, but what I had slashed was not him, but the stone in his hand.
Realizing the stone had shattered, fear gripped him, and he prepared to flee.
"I order you, stop him immediately!" The hero ran over, trying to capture the demon to claim the credit.
I rushed forward, grabbed Altor's head, and threw him straight at the fleeing demon.
Both the demon and the hero were caught off guard and crashed heavily into the wall.
I stepped toward the demon, my sword held firmly in my hand. He tried to stand up but was too slow, and I drove my sword straight through his chest.
"How do you wish to die?" I asked the demon, who could no longer rise, while activating the skill King's Pressure. He was so terrified that he could not utter a word, only stammering in absolute dread.
"Annihilation!"
I used a magic spell I had recently devised, using him as a magic experiment.
A dark sphere condensed in my palm as I aimed it directly at him. A burst of destructive black light erupted from it.
The black light obliterated him in an instant, turning his body to ash. An earth-shattering explosion destroyed the Bavelot Arena, wiping out an entire forest in the blink of an eye.
I stood up and looked around. All the demons and demon beasts had been wiped out by Asp and Yui, and the citizens had completely evacuated.
"What on earth did you do? But I will let it slide since you assisted us in defeating that demon!"
Altor stood up from the throw earlier, beginning to gather with the rest of his party.
I slowly stepped out from the thick dust, walking toward the heroes. I was certain they had not yet seen my face clearly through the lingering haze.
As I stepped out of the smoke, they were all stunned upon seeing my face.
"How can it be you? Who on earth are you?" Amy trembled in fear as she saw me emerge from the smoke.
I rushed toward Altor with incredible speed, delivering a punch to his stomach that shattered his armor. He crashed through the wall, completely bewildered by what had just happened.
I quickly approached Altor while the other three looked on in horror.
"What are you doing?" he asked weakly, his body severely injured.
"Let me ask you, did that throw not feel familiar?" I asked the group while releasing a terrifying killing intent.
"You are—Se—Chi!" They all remembered.
Expressions of shock and terror washed over their faces.
"You... impossible! You were already dead!" Amy said.
"Clearly, your life force had dropped to zero!" Saki said.
"Indeed, I have returned for my revenge!" The moment I finished speaking, I spun around and struck them.
Each of them was sent flying in a different direction, and I turned my attention back to Altor.
"I am a hero, while you are merely a lowly commoner. Do you think you will get away with this?"
Before he could finish, I slammed his head hard against the ground, silencing him.
Then, I threw him violently against another wall, shattering it as well. I stepped closer as he struggled to sit up, screaming: "HOLY SWORD!"
The Holy Sword appeared in his hand, but I immediately used the Sword of Darkness to disarm him, sending the weapon flying far into the forest.
Holding the Sword of Darkness, I stabbed it into the ground right next to his neck, causing him to turn pale with obvious terror.
I turned to the other three, but he immediately chanted a close-range attack spell.
"Fireball!" he screamed, launching the attack at me.
Instantly, I pulled my sword from the ground and slashed the Fireball apart. Without stopping, I grabbed his head and dragged him to the center of the arena despite his struggles to break free.
Reaching the center, I slammed his head hard onto the ground and stepped back.
He struggled to sit up, but just as his vision cleared, he took a kick from me that shattered his armor. I picked up his shield and slammed it down onto him, making him spit blood.
"I recall you did far worse to me!"
As I spoke, I dragged Altor up by his head; his body was completely devoid of strength.
"Explosion!"
Using my heavily reinforced arm, I punched his stomach, sending him flying twenty Zhang into the air before crashing back down.
As expected of a hero, his body was not as easily destroyed as an ordinary human's. Even so, almost every bone in his body was shattered.
I walked to where he landed, lifted his head to slam it against my knee, and then dragged him across the arena floor.
Suddenly, three consecutive magic attacks flew toward me, but before they could reach, they were destroyed by Yui's magic.
"Ice Seal!" Yui used a skill to freeze a portion of the arena floor and parts of the other three's bodies.
I threw Altor straight at the three of them, shattering the ice and sending all four flying.
I stepped closer to them, grabbed Altor's body, and slammed him violently onto the ground, embedding him deep into the dirt. He was completely unconscious, his bones and internal organs severely damaged, though he was still alive.
I approached the three girls.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... it was because... because Altor forced me to do it!" Iska said.
"I am truly sorry too, it was all Altor's fault!" Saki said.
"I wanted to find a chance to help you, but you were accidentally killed. I'm sorry. Now that you are safe, let me make up for the mistakes everyone made!" Amy said.
Apologies poured out involuntarily under the pressure of my immense killing intent.
I reached my hand out to them, and they joyfully reached out to grasp it.
"I really liked you, but I never had the chance to say it," Amy said.
"I always hoped you would return alive so we could be good friends again," Iska said.
Their hands were about to touch mine, their faces radiant with joy.
"Great Fire Blast!"
I softly uttered the name of a skill, catching them completely off guard.
Immediately, a massive flame erupted from my palm, engulfing them.
"Ice Stone Array!"
I cast another magic attack into the burning flames. An earth-shattering explosion occurred as fire met ice.
The blast sent the three of them flying.
I walked up to them.
"Trash like you are not even worthy of my touch."
"You bastard!" Amy struggled to stand up. Instantly, Yui delivered a kick to her stomach, sending her flying into the forest, where she lost consciousness.
The other two were also kicked by Yui and instantly fainted.
All the heroes were severely injured. Currently, they were no different from a pile of trash, more pathetic than corpses. Hopefully, someone would find and treat them in time.
As for the princess, she had been healed by Yui and would surely wake up soon.
We left the Bavelot Arena—or rather, what used to be the arena. Now, it was nothing but a pile of ruins, and the surrounding forest had been completely leveled.
