The Rise of the Useless

Death Battle of Dragon Souls

Chapter 32

Death Battle of Dragon Souls

A great dragon, surrounded by countless souls, appeared in the sky. The sky was divided into two distinct boundaries: one side was brilliant light, the other was enveloping darkness. The two great dragons faced each other, and the Undead army gradually advanced toward Sheng Long. Both great dragons began their grand battle.

"Death Dragon? This is how you should be!"

The Death Dragon said nothing, only letting out a world-shaking roar, and immediately the Undead army marched straight toward the light.

Sheng Long was not to be outdone; its body glowed, radiating a golden aura that gently fell to the ground, touching the bodies of the Undead. Immediately, their bodies glowed as if purified. The dark magic power gradually vanished from the bodies of the Undead that stepped into the light. In its place was a divine magic source that made them shine.

The Undead army was now divided into two factions, one belonging to Sheng Long and the other to Asp. Both armies were fighting fiercely, evenly matched below. Above, neither great dragon attacked; they only looked at each other with eyes full of killing intent.

The battle between the two great dragons finally began; both flew at extreme speed, rushing to attack each other. Light and darkness began to blend, creating countless strange patterns right in the sky. From within the darkness, an extremely powerful beam of light was fired. It incinerated all life it touched.

Sheng Long created a barrier of light. The beam of light hitting it was scattered in many directions, exploding many areas of land it touched. In those places, life began to be drained away, withering.

The Undead army was fighting extremely fiercely below; above, the two great dragons were slaughtering each other with incredibly violent attacks. Sheng Long emitted an extremely powerful aura of light, quickly pushing back the darkness and restoring life to what had been drained. The sun gradually overwhelmed the moon, creating a Solar Eclipse right in the middle of the day.

Asp's side was not to be outdone; it continuously radiated darkness, reclaiming and draining the life of whatever it touched. The moon swallowed the sun, creating a Lunar Eclipse. Thus, each time the two great dragons clashed, darkness and light blended together, and the moon and sun continuously swapped positions.

Countless lands were devastated, and countless corpses of creatures lay scattered. The two Undead armies continuously attacked each other, destroying everything they saw. After countless world-shaking attacks, the abyss under the ground expanded further. Both great dragons were also quite heavily injured. The Death Dragon was restored thanks to the souls flying around, and Sheng Long was restored from the divine light it created.

Below, the once vast and boundless Prairie was now only a wasteland field with countless traces of the battle.

Suddenly, other appearances made me extremely surprised. Countless figures appeared from afar in the wasteland. A human army was marching straight toward the place of the battle. Countless warriors in iron armor, archers, and mages advanced to join the fight. The number was about five thousand people, no small figure.

The human faction, after seeing the extremely fierce battle, joined the fray with the hope of stopping it. Or perhaps they were too contemptuous of the Saint Dragon's power and risked their lives to come here. An army advanced and poured in to attack the Undead who were fighting. This formed a chaotic melee. But it seemed humans only attacked the dark Undead and Asp. Not Sheng Long. Simply put, they saw Sheng Long trying to kill the Death Dragon to protect life; more accurately, they were on Sheng Long's side. But because the Undead attacked everything, even that human army was attacked.

The two great dragons hovering in the sky continued to attack. Countless attacks exploded many lands, destroying hundreds, thousands of human lives. The human faction was not weak either; they continuously attacked, reducing the large number of Undead. Although they could do little to the two great dragons above, they had weakened the Death Dragon's forces.

The battle grew increasingly fierce; both great dragons were so heavily injured that their recovery abilities were almost insufficient. Then Sheng Long suddenly glowed intensely, absorbing light. This move was similar to the one that had destroyed the entire land below. Asp was not to be outdone; darkness began to gather around and was amplified, turning into the shape of a sphere. Countless shockwaves were released right from the power absorption stage; that energy was enough to blow away other weak creatures.

"Yui, perhaps we should intervene."

"I don't want this land to be even more heavily devastated."

I advised Yui immediately after seeing the forms of the ultimate moves with extremely high destructive levels. If not, it would destroy everything within a very large radius. That entire army would evaporate without a trace. The world would appear with even more cracks. Both Sheng Long and the Death Dragon might not survive this time. Therefore, I must stop it.

The people below began to panic, throwing down weapons and running. The shockwaves from the two skills were gradually blowing away everything around. Thousands of soldiers were blown away in the direction of the waves. Both of us advanced straight to where the battle was happening. Yui would be responsible for protecting the surroundings, eliminating the Undead, and supporting me in stopping the battle.

I was exerting all my strength to move as fast as possible before the two skills of the two great dragons were released. The light beam and the sphere grew larger, and the shockwaves radiated more powerfully. Everything around was gradually blown away. Nearing the place where the battle occurred, I was moving at near-supersonic speed to be able to intervene in time.

Finally, the two skills were released; the ground cracked, losing all life, along with countless shockwaves being fired. Yui was doing her best to block, reducing the damage to the lowest level. I was tossed into the sky by Yui using wind magic, right at the point of collision of the two skills. The two skills were about to collide; from the sky, a beam of light slashed straight down at the collision point, making them stop without any other effects.

I was currently using almost all my strength to oppose these two destructive skills. Both swords on my back were drawn to block. An incredibly terrifying magic source radiated right in the middle of the sky. My body was in extreme pain, veins as if bursting, despite having used many skills to block it.

A cracking sound appeared as I was trying to hold on. The Shadow Sword shattered into small pieces and turned to ashes immediately after colliding with the junction of the two skills. My body was increasingly squeezed because of losing a sword.

Suddenly, the Fury Sword radiated a mysterious black aura and a brilliant white aura. From within my head, a voice I hadn't heard in a long time, a familiar voice appeared again.

"Elemental Attribute Skill activated, absorbing the elemental energy in contact!"

The power of the two skills seemed to have decreased as soon as the skill was activated; furthermore, the magic source was even more violent.

"Damage Absorption <Ultimate> activated!"

"Critical Strike activated, converting fifty percent of damage received into personal damage, adding Elemental Severing effect!"

"Indefinite Seal activated!"

Many skills were activated as soon as the sword glowed. I used all my strength to swing the sword, slashing straight into the two skills. A terrifying magic power appeared in the direction of the sword tip, cutting through both skills that were destroying everything. And immediately, countless chains from the void appeared, tightly binding the two skills that had been split in two. Then it completely erased those two skills, leaving only a void where nothing existed.

Afterward, I landed straight on the ground in a kneeling position. My body was aching everywhere, but thanks to Recovery, it was temporarily better.

The two great dragons were blown far away; Asp fell to the ground, while Sheng Long was pushed back quite far. Both great dragons were exhausted. Immediately after, the two great dragons still intended to attack; both flew up and intended to continue their moves. But immediately, Asp saw me ordering to stop the attack, so he stopped.

"You are a cowardly great dragon, you actually follow the orders of a human—!"

Its words were cut short after looking down at my position.

"Impossible, that magic power—!"

Immediately, I launched a slash straight at Sheng Long; the slash went through and split the aura enveloping it in half, causing a wound on its wing that made it unable to fly further. Sheng Long fell straight to the ground; Asp also returned to his adult dragon form, and the souls vanished.

I advanced toward Sheng Long while holding the glowing Fury Sword in my hand. Asp also took steps following me. Yui, after minimizing the damage, also approached Sheng Long.

"Kill me if you wish, I have lost the battle and am ready to accept death." Sheng Long looked straight into my eyes and said.

"What do I gain by killing you?"

It was silent, almost unable to find a reason. Asp stood right behind me with Yui and immediately transformed into baby dragon form, flying onto my shoulder to sleep. Asp almost didn't care about winning or losing; now he was Asp, not the Death Dragon from earlier.

"A Saint Dragon actually submits to a human?"

"Sorry, neither of us is human," I replied to Sheng Long's surprised face.

"I give you two choices: one is never to seek Asp, two is to go with us. I also want Asp to have a companion."

At the same time, Yui reached out her right hand toward it. Sheng Long looked at it, but seemed a bit confused.

"I have lost; the loser is not allowed to have an opinion with the winner. I have also lost at your hands, Death Dragon."

"Then from now on, please help, Master!" Sheng Long said while bowing its head under Yui's hand.

Yui seemed quite happy; from now on we would have a new companion.

"But I will never share the same path as the Death Dragon; there will be a day I will defeat him."

"By the way, my name is Eli," Sheng Long introduced itself to Yui and me. Asp didn't care and was sleeping.

"And that Death Dragon, his name is Asp, named by me."

"Asp! Then from now on I will call you that!" Eli intentionally shouted loudly for Asp to hear, but Asp heard nothing, still sleeping soundly. This made Eli quite angry.

"So from now on, Eli will join us."

Asp heard that and immediately woke up with a start, eyes wide as if not believing this was real. He seemed quite shocked.
