The Card Ink Alchemist

Wang Ji in White

Chapter 5

Wang Ji in White

Upon seeing these two, Chen Ling's expression instantly changed.

"Li Chuan, Wang Ji, why are they here?!" Chen Ling blurted out involuntarily.

"You know them?" Tung Lin asked anxiously. Although he knew Chen Ling's background was extraordinary, getting involved with individuals even Cao Jing, a Six-Star Card Cultivator, had to be wary of, was a huge problem.

Chen Ling remained silent, his face grim. He had been surprised when he met Cao Jing earlier, but not to the point of losing composure. However, Li Chuan and Wang Ji's appearance made him sense something unusual behind this incident, especially since it might be related to the organization...

In the sky, the two figures, having just appeared, flew closer. Both were clad in full-body attire, one in white, one in black. Though it was night, a faint glow seemed to surround them, making them visible to all.

"Qu She Ying Card, I didn't expect you to be able to create such a card," Cao Jing, with his extremely keen Spiritual Power, immediately detected something amiss and exclaimed in surprise.

"As expected of San Wei Xie, your Spiritual Power is truly sharp," the man in black spoke.

"Enough idle chatter, if you want to fight, then fight. If you want Luo Bai, you'll have to step over my corpse first!" Cao Jing said in a deep voice, adopting a defensive stance, but his gaze was not on the two figures before him. He rapidly swapped Card Energy, and behind him, a new tail, even larger than before, condensed.

"Without Six-Star Card Energy, that one move won't do anything to us," the man in white chuckled lightly. In mid-air, four white light cubes suddenly condensed. The cubes weren't overly bright but felt incredibly real; as soon as they appeared, the surrounding air seemed to solidify.

Cao Jing, without hesitation, fully activated his Spring Tail, launching it towards the light cubes, hoping to deliver a killing blow while the opponents were unprepared. He knew that once they fully condensed, destroying them would be many times harder.

But it was too late. The four light cubes suddenly flashed, then arranged themselves into a regular tetrahedron, hovering in mid-air, showing no intention of dodging the tail that was piercing towards them with the destructive power of a heavy missile.

Boom!

Once again, a storm-like shockwave swept through, but by now, no one was foolish enough to approach this battlefield, so no casualties occurred. At the center of the explosion, the four light cubes forming the tetrahedron remained, completely unshaken.

Cao Jing's face darkened. He quickly swapped Card Energy. That single move had consumed all the energy of a Five-Star Card, its attack power even greater than before, yet it had no effect. He knew that even if he used all his remaining Card Energy, he couldn't turn the tide, but he still had to try.

"See? Your attack did nothing to my Light Cubes. You'd best surrender and hand over Luo Bai," the man in white said, but his voice emanated from the light cubes.

"I've said it before, if you want Luo Bai, you'll have to step over my corpse!" Cao Jing growled, his tail reappearing behind him. Although it wouldn't have much effect, he had no other moves that could be stronger using only Five-Star Card Energy.

"External Polar Ray!" the man in white roared. The four light cubes then arranged themselves into a flat square, after which they simultaneously rotated around a point, forming an increasingly intense circle of light. From the center of the circle, a high-intensity white beam shone directly onto Cao Jing.

Cao Jing's Spring Tail had also been launched, but it rapidly disintegrated upon being struck by the white light. Cao Jing immediately raised his hands to shield his face.

The beam of light almost instantly flashed and then extinguished, but everything in its path was incinerated. Cao Jing, thanks to the Spring Tail's momentary shield, did not die, but he was severely burned.

Even so, he gritted his teeth and swapped Card Energy, determined to fight to the end.

"How stubborn. Don't blame me for being ruthless then," the man in white said, and the light cubes began to spin again. Another blow like this, and even if Cao Jing had an iron body, he would be melted.

Just then, the man in black spoke.

"Hmph, you're lucky. Wang Ji, let's go!" the man in black said, then vanished. The man in white was greatly surprised but said nothing and disappeared with the light cubes.

The Fu Gang members, now without a commander, retreated. Before long, the fierce battlefield became desolate, the heavy air filled with the stench of blood, pervading a sense of desolation that left those who remained with little joy in their survival.

Tung Lin and Chen Ling had nothing left to see and returned home. This night was truly a sleepless one for both of them.

A large-scale engagement with hundreds of people, countless casualties, and a high-level battle between Card Cultivators who had entered the Six-Star Realm left Tung Lin still trembling slightly. He was afraid, and he was also excited. Excited to witness power, not the power of Card Cultivators, nor the power of Cards, but the power of the Card Ink that created those Cards. What level of high-grade material, what fusion method, could achieve that? Could his future ink adjustment methods reach that power? These questions lingered in his mind all night.

As for Chen Ling, he pondered about Cao Jing, Li Chuan, Wang Ji, and that person named Luo Bai, wondering if it all related to some secret of the organization. If so, then...

"Brother Chuan, why didn't you follow the plan to capture Luo Bai earlier and suddenly return?"

"Orders from above."

"Then..."

"Wait for the opportune moment."

"Yes."
