Finding Someone (4)

Finding Someone (4)

Le Xiao ran to the nearby hotels. He had lived in this town since childhood, so he knew every nook and cranny, even the small guesthouses hidden in the alleys.

Le Xiao started searching from the nearest hotel, checking them one by one, paying special attention to the affordable ones.

Thinking of Jiang Ru's thrifty nature, she probably wouldn't want to spend money on expensive places.

Although the town hadn't developed quickly over the past few years, it wasn't small. Searching through several streets left him exhausted.

Still no sign of her.

Le Xiao grew more panicked the longer he searched. By the time he reached North Street, Zhou Jian was already waiting there. Seeing Le Xiao, he shook his head anxiously.

"She's not at the school. The security guard said he didn't see anyone go in. I even checked the back gate, but it was locked."

Le Xiao's heart sank, and his expression grew solemn.

Zhou Jian couldn't help but feel scared. "Could Sister-in-law have run into trouble on the road..."

Before he could finish, Le Xiao's face instantly turned cold, and his icy gaze swept over him.

Zhou Jian was so frightened that he quickly shut his mouth.

Le Xiao pursed his lips. "Go check the Yangguang Hotel. If she's not there either, call some of our brothers to help later."

As he spoke, there was a faint tension in his voice that was hard to detect. An ominous feeling was rising in his heart.

He recalled Qin Wenguo. In this county, the only person who could go against him was Qin Wenguo. He and that guy surnamed Qin had already fallen out. Logically, the other party wouldn't dare to do such a thing, but he feared the worst.

With that thought, his pace quickened.

Zhou Jian caught up, not holding much hope for the Yangguang Hotel.

This hotel was quite far from the Le family home, located behind North Street. If Sister-in-law really wanted to stay at a hotel, why would she run all the way here? Moreover, the Yangguang Hotel was extremely expensive, costing twenty to thirty yuan a night. It was the only three-star hotel in the county, built with government involvement, mainly to entertain outside investors and wealthy people.

Ordinary people couldn't afford to stay there.

The two walked to North Street. This side was much quieter than South Street, and the environment was also much better. The concrete ground was clean, and beautiful tall buildings with white-painted walls lined both sides of the road.

There were also shops, bookstores, hair salons, clothing stores, and restaurants around.

Zhou Jian looked around with a hint of envy. "It's so nice over here. If you want to buy something, you can get it in just a few steps."

He looked around, not noticing that the person in front of him had suddenly stopped. He bumped straight into Le Xiao's back, rubbing his sore shoulder as he asked, "What's wrong?"

Looking up in the direction of Le Xiao's gaze, he immediately saw a familiar figure stepping out of the high-end restaurant opposite them.

He knew that restaurant. It used to be a state-owned eatery. Although it wasn't as large as the restaurant opposite the county government office, business was booming, and many people went out of their way to eat there.

But who could tell him why Sister-in-law was there?

The woman was cradling her belly with one hand and holding a pastry in the other, leisurely walking forward.

From her appearance, one couldn't tell at all that she had run away from home in anger.

In Zhou Jian's memory, when neighboring couples quarreled and the wife packed her bags to return home, she would look pitiful, either crying with tears and snot, or unable to eat or sleep.

Why did Sister-in-law look as if nothing had happened?
