Chapter 20
The General Store's New Rules
This time, Jiang Rang arrived without any identification. Moreover, staying in a hotel would be far too expensive.
Jiang Rang returned to the wholesale clothing store where she had just bought her stock and negotiated with the owner, Guan Wen Ju. She offered to work temporarily for two days, and in exchange, the owner would let her use the back storeroom for a makeshift rest at night. After all, the store would close in the evening, and the main gate of the wholesale district would also be locked, so the owner wasn't worried about Jiang Rang running away.
Fortunately, Jiang Rang met a kind person this time. Owner Guan Wen Ju agreed to her proposal and even remembered to prepare her lunch and dinner bento boxes.
During these two days, thanks to Jiang Rang's sales and promotion, Guan Wen Ju's store earned a considerable amount of money. Guan Wen Ju wanted to pay Jiang Rang a salary, but she refused, opting instead for a few more sets of clothes.
As soon as 48 hours passed, Jiang Rang pushed open the fire escape door, stepped through a veil of darkness, and successfully returned to her general store.
Upon her return, she received a warning from the store itself. From now on, all items brought back must be sold completely, with nothing left over, for the time-traveling door to open again. Jiang Rang had to strictly adhere to these new rules; if she violated them, the door would close permanently, no longer allowing her to travel through time and space.
Jiang Rang tried to open the back door of the general store but couldn't cross into the other world. Indeed, if she hadn't sold all the items she brought back, she wouldn't be able to time travel.
This clearly meant the general store was desperate to earn its seventy percent brokerage fee from her.
Jiang Rang carried a large sack of clothes, determined to sell all this merchandise. She wanted to see who would compromise first, her or the general store.
