Chapter 45
Applying Medicine
She didn't look at all like someone who had given birth to two children.
Wiping her jet-black hair, she stepped outside.
Not far away, Gu Si was playing with the two children. Although he was famously fierce to outsiders, he was extremely gentle with his two children.
Just as she stepped out of the door, the towel in Du Yueyao's hand suddenly fell to the ground. She bent down to pick it up, unexpectedly pulling the wound on her back, causing her to cry out in pain, "Ah..."
The father and his two sons immediately turned their heads to look at her.
Under the moonlight, the woman who had just bathed had skin so fair it seemed to glow.
Wet hair clung to her face and her long, slender neck.
She reached out to clutch her back, her almond eyes watery as if she were about to cry, her red lips tightly bitten.
"What's wrong?" Gu Si asked.
Hearing her cry of pain, Gu Yingming immediately turned his face away guiltily.
"It's nothing, I just bumped into something." Du Yueyao, afraid that Gu Yingming would get scolded, quickly waved her hand to signal to Gu Si that she was fine, then hurried back to her room.
Gu Si looked at Gu Yingming's guilty expression and guessed a part of it.
But now was not the time to scold the child.
Not scolding children at night was almost an unwritten rule.
The urgent matter was to look at Du Yueyao's injury.
As long as they weren't divorced, he was still her husband, so he naturally had to fulfill his duty.
Gu Si fetched the bottle of medicinal wine from the room he shared with the two children and went to Du Yueyao's room.
At that moment, he forgot to knock.
"I have medicine here..."
As soon as he looked up, Gu Si saw Du Yueyao with her back turned, having just taken off her shirt.
Her fair, smooth back was revealed in the darkness, resembling top-grade white jade, faintly shimmering.
Her snow-white skin, however, had a fist-sized bruise standing out on it, looking quite terrifying.
Hearing the sound behind her, Du Yueyao immediately pulled the coat beside her over her body, turning her head in high alert.
The doorway was blocked by the man's towering figure, casting a shadow and carrying an overwhelming presence.
"Ah..." Du Yueyao hadn't fully adapted to her new identity yet, so seeing the silhouette of a strange man in the dark made her heart leap into her throat, her fingers unconsciously clutching the bedsheet.
Gu Si saw her face turn pale and only then realized he had been too abrupt, startling her.
He took a step forward, revealing his face clearly, and raised the medicine bottle for her to see.
"I have medicine."
Hearing the voice that was both familiar and unfamiliar, Du Yueyao gradually remembered that this man was her husband.
Her racing heart finally began to settle.
The small, pure white porcelain bottle in Gu Si's hand gleamed under the oil lamp, warming Du Yueyao's heart.
She hadn't expected him to be such a thoughtful person.
With just a soft cry, he had noticed she was injured.
Conversely, she was the one who had overreacted.
Thinking this, she immediately adjusted her clothes and said softly, "Thank you."
Gu Si turned around. Their eyes met for a brief second before quickly darting away.
"I'll leave the medicine here."
Gu Si, afraid of scolding her again, placed the medicine on the table and turned to leave.
But Du Yueyao called him back.
"Um..." The girl's soft voice sounded clearly in the dark night.
"The wound on my back... I can't reach it. Can you help me?" Having said that, she turned around, lifted her shirt, and lay face down on the bed.
A rustling sound echoed, and Gu Si's breath caught in his throat.
After a long moment, he picked up the medicine bottle he had just set down and sat on the edge of her bed.
Unlike the brief glance earlier, this time, a large portion of the woman's slender waist was revealed before his eyes. Gu Si stared, unconsciously holding his breath.
*How is her waist so small? It seems like it could snap with just a little force.*
He poured the red liquid onto her fair, smooth back, the stark contrast of colors dazzling to the eyes.
Gu Si took a deep breath, immediately averted his gaze, and said in a deep voice, "My hands are a bit heavy. Bear with it a little; rubbing the bruise away will make it heal faster."
"Yes," Du Yueyao replied obediently, but the moment his hand touched her...
"Ugh..." She couldn't help but let out a soft groan.
His hand was burning hot, and the force was very strong, causing tears to immediately well up in her eyes.
The injured area was already highly sensitive, and being touched now made it hurt even more intensely. She couldn't tell if it was because his hand was too hot or because the massage was too firm.
Her skin was naturally sensitive, and she was particularly afraid of pain.
"Be a bit gentler..."
Her voice, laced with a sob, made Gu Si's heart tremble slightly, but the words that left his mouth were cold: "If the force is too light, the bruise won't disperse."
"Ugh..." Du Yueyao could only grit her teeth and bear the pain radiating from her back, her slender fingers clutching the bedsheet tightly.
