Chapter 6
The Old Lady's Complaint
Old Zhong and Big Mother Zhong looked at each other, not daring to make a move. Why did that sentence sound so much like "if you want to be beaten to death, then go ahead and sue me"?
But the old lady didn't think that much. Doting on her grandson, as soon as she was free, she was like Sun Wukong escaping from the Five Elements Mountain, rushing away in a hurry.
"You, you just wait! I'm going right now!"
Both afraid and angry, the old lady glared fiercely at Qiu Qi and shouted, then ran out crying for help.
In truth, it wasn't exactly that Old Madam Zhong loved Zhong Guang Minh that much. After all, Zhong Guang Minh was truly too useless; over twenty years old and still idling around all day, he was truly an eyesore to everyone.
The old lady was a shrewd person; how could she not resent an incompetent grandson? It was just that Zhong Guang Minh was currently the only male in the family who could carry on the lineage. If she didn't protect him and something happened to him, the Zhong family would be finished. How could she face her late husband?
Therefore, for this reason, how could the old lady not treat her grandson like a treasure?
Furthermore, in all the surrounding villages, when had anyone ever heard of a junior beating an elder? Carrying a mood of both anger and resentment, as soon as Old Madam Zhong was free, she waddled to the house of the Village Head, Zhong Fu Shu, to call for help.
"What? Vũ Ger beat your whole family? And knocked everyone unconscious?"
After hearing this, Zhong Fu Shu's first reaction was disbelief, thinking the old lady must be playing some trick again.
Did he not understand Vũ Ger? Although that boy wasn't exactly great and was the type with a dark heart, he was much better than the others in the Zhong family and wouldn't actively cause trouble.
If he had made a move, it was surely because someone had done something to him first.
Generally speaking, he was still an obedient, quiet, and honest child.
So when the old lady came to cry for justice, he didn't believe her for a second, looking at her with a gaze that said, "Auntie, why can't you just have one peaceful day?"
Old Madam Zhong was both furious and aggrieved, feeling hurt by this suspicious gaze. She hurriedly craned her neck to provide evidence:
"It's true! That brat knocked out my whole family with one punch! Look, there are still marks on my neck; it still hurts now. That brat did it all!"
However... there were no marks on her neck. Qiu Qi was a professional; hitting people required skill.
Zhong Fu Shu was now certain the old lady was playing the rogue and causing trouble again. After all, everyone in the village knew Old Madam Zhong's temperament. He really didn't want to care, but thinking that if he didn't, today certainly wouldn't be peaceful, and since the Zhong family were his relatives, he finally nodded helplessly to go take a look.
"Second Aunt, I'll go with you to see. But this time, if you've lied to me, I'll confine you to your house for three months!"
Zhong Fu Shu spoke harsh words; he truly didn't believe the old lady. If she wanted to cause a scene, he would go along with it and take the opportunity to lock her up. It wouldn't solve the root problem, but at least there would be peace for a few months.
He had truly had enough of this troublesome Second Aunt!
But Old Madam Zhong wasn't lying this time. She didn't care about the harsh words at all and wasn't afraid, happily leading him back home.
On the way, they attracted quite a few villagers who followed along. Everyone was curious about what the Zhong family's old lady was up to now. Hadn't she just had a fight with the Chu family?
"Go, go, go, let's follow and see. Old Madam Zhong is truly talented; she just made a scene, and now she's at it again."
"Right, right, bring your rice bowl; we'll eat while we watch..."
The villagers followed excitedly. There was little entertainment in the village; watching commotions and gossiping was how everyone passed the time.
And on this side, by the time everyone returned, Qiu Qi was also prepared.
Facing the aggressive Old Madam Zhong and her loud accusations, he remained silent. He looked at Zhong Fu Shu with pitiful, red eyes, his whole being radiating the weakness of someone being bullied.
Although Qiu Qi usually had a cold temperament and his face remained unchanged year-round, it didn't mean he was paralyzed. His acting skills were still very good.
After all, to live well in society, one must have excellent acting skills.
Therefore, even though Zhong Fu Shu saw Zhong Guang Minh tied up with a bruised face after entering the yard, his heart still leaned toward Qiu Qi, feeling there was a hidden story.
Irritatedly telling the incessantly accusing Old Madam Zhong to shut up, Zhong Fu Shu looked toward Qiu Qi, his tone gentle: "Vũ Ger, your grandmother says you hit people. Tell your Great Uncle, what exactly happened? What's going on in the house?"
These words clearly showed he didn't believe the old lady.
But Old Madam Zhong didn't catch on and was very impatient:
"Fu Shu, my great nephew, why are you still talking to this brat? He's the one who went crazy and turned the world upside down! Quickly tie him up and take him to the ancestral hall to be locked up and taught a lesson!"
Old Madam Zhong didn't speak politely at all. Her attitude was overbearing, relying on being the Village Head's Second Aunt and the past favor of Grandpa Zhong dying to save Zhong Fu Shu. For decades, she had never respected Zhong Fu Shu as a Village Head.
