Apocalypse: Stockpiling Millions of Supplies, Building the Strongest Base

Experimental Discovery

Chapter 14

Experimental Discovery

"Lie down there. I don't want to say it a third time." Doctor X narrowed his cold, slender eyes, revealing a hint of impatience. He picked up a syringe, his icy gaze directed at her.

This test subject was unlike the previous ones. The base's surveillance from City A's management area had checked and found that she seemed to have had an ability before entering the safe zone.

But the latest intelligence showed that she reported her ability information on the same day as the mission.

Therefore, this was considered concealment, or perhaps had other motives.

His eyes flickered slightly, and he subtly turned his head away, neatly organizing a large pile of bottles.

Behind Jiang Chu, two metal arms suddenly appeared, pulling her onto the operating table with a strength that ordinary people could barely resist.

Jiang Chu's eyes widened. From her expression, she seemed stunned, still without any superfluous resistance. After all, her immediate small goal was to attract Doctor X's attention, not to provoke him.

Lin Na was right; this laboratory was created by Doctor X using his metal ability. Therefore, those ability users weren't unwilling to resist, but unable to and incapable of resisting.

She lay on the cold operating table, her brows slightly furrowed.

"Very smart. I don't like noise."

Before she could speak, Doctor X used his ability to examine her once. From the moment she stepped into the lab, he had discovered that her Primordial Core was very strange.

He calmly drew a tube of blood from her arm. A mobile screen moved next to him. Looking at the constantly appearing data, a hint of surprise flashed in Doctor X's eyes.

"Your Primordial Core is twice as large as other ability users'." Speaking of this, he paused, met Jiang Chu's somewhat curious gaze, his eyes sinking slightly, and said nothing more.

Jiang Chu didn't find it strange at all that he could notice this point.

Experiments were not done in vain. The theory that ability users had Primordial Cores in their heads originated from Doctor X in her previous life. True scientific research geniuses had a gap between them and ordinary people.

It was just unclear if he could tell she had reached the Second Stage.

Currently, feigning weakness (playing the pig to eat the tiger) gave her an advantage; she was no longer in a passive situation as before.

"Hmm." Doctor X was analyzing her blood, and suddenly let out a strange 'hmm'.

Jiang Chu's eyes flickered slightly; it seemed he had discovered it.

"Your body actually has a strange type of cell that is slowly transforming your body." After speaking, Doctor X's eyes lit up as he walked in front of her. This was something that had never been discovered before.

"I want this person," he said, sending a voice message on his phone.

Although Jiang Chu was lying on the operating table, she could roughly see the situation in the laboratory. She had taken a living cell inhibitor, and even so, what remained was enough to make him interested. It was just... She cast her gaze towards a container.

The spiky-haired ability user slowly opened his eyes, looking around blankly. He suddenly began to fidget and anxiously punched the glass container.

His entire state was abnormal and unsuitable, as if he had taken a stimulant. The glass container made 'bang bang bang' sounds as it was hit. He was imprisoned inside, seemingly roaring.

"He's awake," Jiang Chu said.

Doctor X was not surprised. He looked at the time, seemingly muttering, "One minute slower than I predicted."

His eyes struggled a bit as he looked at Jiang Chu on the operating table. He hesitated for a second, did not untie the metal restraints on her wrists, and quickly walked towards the container.

"Bang bang bang." The ability user continued to hit the glass.

Jiang Chu saw him release his earth ability inside the container. Yellow earth covered the solution, also burying one-third of his body.

Her pupils contracted slightly. The laboratory was all under Doctor X's control. He had turned the container into a small ability confinement device; abilities could only be released inside, not outside. It seemed that he was completely like an experimental toy.

The earth ability user's brows furrowed tightly, his face full of indignation. He roared loudly at Doctor X, "Let me out! It's been days! I want to eat and drink! You're infringing on my rights! I want to see the safe zone's superiors! I don't want to stay here!"

Doctor X looked at him indifferently. A section of metal tentacles from the air device wrapped around, taking out about ten milliliters of earth from inside.

"Only three days have passed," Doctor X said, putting on gloves and pinching a bit of earth. "Besides, there are no human rights in the apocalypse. You have no right to be arrogant in my place, and your superiors cannot interfere."

The ability user froze, his destructive movements becoming even greater.

Doctor X injected him with medicine using a metal tentacle, and he immediately fell unconscious.

Jiang Chu was slightly stunned; she seemed to have said similar words herself. She half-closed her eyes, waiting for an opportune moment.

As the earth ability user fell unconscious, the laboratory returned to its empty and quiet state, with only Doctor X's steady footsteps audible.

The phone's ringtone broke the silence. Doctor X took out his phone while looking at the screen.

An anxious male voice rang out: "Special situation. Tens of thousands of zombies are surrounding the base, and a riot has broken out in that village again. Although it was contained and sealed off in time, the situation is not optimistic. Suspend the experiment; release the ability users first!"

"Doctor, can you release me first now?" A smile flashed in Jiang Chu's eyes.

The other end of the line had also heard. Doctor X pursed his lips, gave her a deep look, and waved his hand to remove the restraints.

Then he walked to the laboratory window and pulled back the curtains. Not far away, a large area was on fire. Gunshots and chaotic noises filled the air, and a patch of fire also appeared towards the village.

Soldiers not only had to deal with the riot but also had to put out fires and even resist the zombies outside the safe zone.

With high walls blocking the view, the situation outside the base could not be clearly seen.

"They are in a state of unconsciousness; they won't wake up quickly."

The other end of the line became even more anxious: "You definitely have a way. Moreover, an unknown force is approaching us. I suspect it's related to the previous incident. We will increase your military strength and send people to pick up the next person."

Doctor X directly hung up the phone.

He was eager to begin researching the living cells in her body, and the sudden interruption made a fierce expression mix between his eyebrows. His good mood being doused with cold water was not pleasant either.

Jiang Chu had already stood up. She knew that for someone like Doctor X, any crisis the base faced was irrelevant to him. A faint smile hung on her lips: "Doctor, are you very interested in me?"

"It's your Primordial Core and cells," Doctor X glanced at her, went to deal with the imprisoned ability users, temporarily ignoring her audacity.

Jiang Chu shrugged indifferently, standing behind him and asking, "The phone call just mentioned an unknown force. I want to ask what you were doing two nights ago?"

Doctor X's expression was cold. As he had guessed, she was indeed feigning weakness (playing the pig to eat the tiger). He said without turning his head, "I don't need to explain my affairs to anyone."

Even if he was fully immersed in scientific research, he was as clear as day about the affairs within the base.

Those people had taken a doctor named Gui Chen. She turned around and immediately questioned him. What did she know?

"Then if you don't explain, it will affect your experiment. Will you tell me or not?" Jiang Chu retracted her smile, a hint of coldness flashing in her eyes.
