Chapter 2
Access Pass
Gui Chen's expression darkened, his gaze fixed gloomily on Qin Yan.
Qin Yan, however, merely chuckled, "Utilizing Black Market resources, freely entering and exiting Black Market locations—Xia Ji Chuan doesn't even have that privilege. My terms are a four-six split, and one more thing."
"I don't dare to dream of freely entering and exiting Sheng Jing Base, but I must be given an Access Pass to enter Sheng Jing."
He leaned back in his chair, calmly looking straight at Gui Chen, as if the person before him wasn't a rival in love, but a friend.
"Regarding Black Market resources, Gui Chen is the most knowledgeable person here. What survivors can see is merely the tip of the iceberg of the Black Market, wouldn't you agree, Gui Chen?" Qin Yan said placidly.
His eyes met Gui Chen's for a moment.
The entire meeting room was enveloped in a peculiar atmosphere.
Lu Jia Zhe felt a slight unease, not expecting that man to be the boss behind the Black Market.
Their leader wanted to cooperate with the Black Market, but a thought sparked in his mind: this Boss Qin, why did he seem to be provoking a rival in love?
He didn't know if it was his imagination, but Lu Jia Zhe was fortunate that Zhao Jing Yao wasn't present, otherwise, who knew what chain reaction would be triggered.
With the intention of easing the atmosphere, he spoke, "Leader, this isn't appropriate. If Boss Qin wishes to come to our Sheng Jing for negotiations, then the Sheng Jing guard team reporting it would naturally grant passage. An Access Pass is only for internal members."
Some time ago, they had made a unique Access Pass for everyone in the base.
Upon returning to the base from a mission, they also had to present their Access Pass to prevent outsiders from sneaking in. Furthermore, the Access Pass had an on-the-spot photo and a cleared photo, which was a huge undertaking for the base, only provided for internal staff use.
It must have been someone who had just returned to the base who presented it, and he saw it.
If given to Qin Yan, everything would be chaotic.
Unexpectedly, Qin Yan's face instantly darkened, and he shot Lu Jia Zhe a cold glance: "What right do you have to guide Jiang Chu in making decisions?"
Jiang Chu almost didn't need to think; an Access Pass naturally couldn't be granted. Once granted, it would mean he was an internal staff member of Sheng Jing Base, which he wasn't.
She clearly saw the subtle movements of the people below her, and calmly changed the subject: "Alright, let's not talk about this for now. The first point I want to make is that in the cooperation between our two sides, my Sheng Jing will take the lead, and should rightfully receive six parts of the Cores. In the next two years, the Black Market needs to cooperate with me to clear the zombies in Yu Shui City and gather the survivors from the bases in Yu Shui City."
"The benefit is that if a Fifth Stage or higher zombie Core is harvested, you will receive four parts. If you agree, accept it now; if not, then so be it."
The Black Market was a link in her plan; Jiang Chu actually intended to exploit it.
Speaking like this was pressuring Qin Yan to make a decision.
Any further delay would not be good for anyone.
Qin Yan's gaze swept over Doctor X, whose meaning was urging him to agree.
After all, if the two sides truly established a friendly cooperative relationship, he could also take the opportunity to propose examining Jiang Chu's Primordial Core, gaining an advantage, and she would accept such a small request.
Qin Yan listened to her words and felt that if he didn't agree, she would immediately draw a clear line.
"Alright, I agree, and I'll take a step back; I'll give up on the Access Pass." He tugged at the collar of his black shirt, "Just let your Sheng Jing people remember this face of mine. Next time they see me, tell them to let me pass directly."
As he spoke, he tossed Jiang Chu a black token, saying in a strange, mocking tone, "This is the Yu Shui City Black Market token. You can use the Black Market's resources here and command Black Market personnel. After all, I'm not as stingy as some people."
"It's not the same as the previous one."
Everyone in the meeting room widened their eyes.
That was the Yu Shui City Black Market token, just given away like that?
Jiang Chu leaned her head towards Gui Chen, asking for his opinion.
Seeing Gui Chen nod in agreement, she picked up the token on the table, fearing Qin Yan would change his mind, and quickly decided: "It's settled then. It's late, Lu Jia Zhe, please arrange rooms for Boss Qin and Doctor X, and their other people too, arrange for all of them."
After giving instructions, she slipped away as if her heels were greased.
At nine in the evening, the team led by Zhao Jing Yao had not yet returned. Jiang Chu dispatched a patrol team to assist them.
Before ten o'clock, they finally returned to the base with several large vehicles full of supplies.
These were all spoils of war; the clothes in the shopping mall had also been divided among their bases.
Jiang Chu told Shen Yin Qiu to register them and put them into the warehouse: "Sort them by size and season. Later, if members' clothes are damaged on missions, they can take a set from the warehouse to resupply."
Besides clothes, there was also a large supermarket under the shopping mall.
The supplies there were the main focus. Zhao Jing Yao led fifty people, and the several large trucks made even more noise returning than when they left.
Boxes of drinks and instant food, even the warehouse couldn't hold it all. Jiang Chu had to give orders to build several more warehouses and turn this area into a storage zone, separated by walls.
Zhao Jing Yao was also happy, but it would have been more complete if he hadn't heard about tonight's events from Lu Jia Zhe.
Afterward, he took it to heart.
The next day, Jiang Chu woke up, intending to send someone to see Qin Yan and Doctor X off, but unexpectedly, the two had no intention of leaving. They even found Lu Jia Zhe and told him to take them to see Jiang Chu.
As soon as Jiang Chu saw Doctor X, she knew what he wanted to do.
"For the foreseeable future, I will remain in Yu Shui City. The laboratory here has already begun construction." Doctor X's face was cold and handsome, and his voice had no warmth whatsoever.
This was his consistent habit, or rather, apart from scientific research, nothing could interest him, with a few exceptions, of course.
Jiang Chu ignored the burning intensity in his eyes, clearly understanding his intentions, "So what?"
Doctor X said expressionlessly, "I request to examine your Primordial Core. This will bring you a hundred benefits and no harm."
Jiang Chu disagreed: "Where are the results from this period?"
Doctor X stiffened, "It's a potion that can inhibit zombie evolution. According to current research, just three drops into a zombie's mouth are enough to prevent them from evolving for a period. Of course, it works on zombies below Fifth Stage; for higher stages, it's temporarily... ineffective."
Jiang Chu crossed her arms, full of interest. Qin Yan had advanced to Fourth Stage, and Doctor X had now reached the mid-Third Stage. Such speed was truly outrageous; there must be more than just this item.
"Qin Yan has already been sent away by me. He shouldn't restrict what you say, right?" He was very tall; Jiang Chu had to tilt her head slightly to meet his eyes.
Jiang Chu stared into his eyes, pulling out a faint, cold smile: "If you're still hiding experimental results, why should I cooperate with you?"
Doctor X's expression relaxed slightly: "Actually, it's not hiding, it's just still in the experimental stage. Some time ago, we captured several Third Stage and Fourth Stage zombies. While ensuring their survival, we examined their Cores, replicated the Third Stage and Fourth Stage ability pathways, then condensed them into a liquid, injected it into the brain, and fused it with the Primordial Core. Doing so carries great risks."
