After Hearing the CEO's Inner Thoughts

Zhao Wan Ru's Fairness

Chapter 6

Zhao Wan Ru's Fairness

Zhao Wan Ru also saw Tai Leng Han standing in a daze. She paused for a moment, looking at him. Tai Leng Han silently swallowed a mouthful of saliva, glanced at Zhao Wan Ru, then struggled to keep his steps steady as he walked over, his expression unchanged, asking a perfunctory question:
"You... haven't slept yet?"
"No. I was a bit thirsty, so I came down for a drink."
Zhao Wan Ru obediently answered, making Tai Leng Han suddenly speechless. He just silently moved aside, making way for Zhao Wan Ru to go downstairs. He stood silently in the hallway, listening intently to her footsteps echoing behind him. After a while, Tai Leng Han leaned against the wall, supporting himself, and staggered into the living room. Tai Leng Han's mind was dense at this moment, his entire body exhausted, and his stomach was throbbing with pain. Tai Leng Han simply couldn't think at all, so Zhao Wan Ru didn't hear his inner thoughts.
When Zhao Wan Ru entered the room, she saw a very familiar dining table, on which was a glass covered tightly with a bowl. She walked over and opened it to see some lemon water and a few lonely slices of ginger inside. Perhaps Auntie Hai, the housekeeper, had prepared it for Tai Leng Han to sober up, but for some reason, Tai Leng Han hadn't noticed, or hadn't bothered to mix water to drink. It was also possible there was no warm water available. Three years of living together were enough for Zhao Wan Ru to understand Tai Leng Han's casualness and perfunctoriness in self-care. If Auntie Hai hadn't meticulously cared for everything, Tai Leng Han probably wouldn't even bother to eat.
Zhao Wan Ru sighed wearily. What she had observed at the wedding today made Zhao Wan Ru worried and confused, feeling that Tai Leng Han also seemed to have feelings for her. When it came to feelings, it was better not to know; once you knew, pretending to ignore it wasn't very pleasant.
Since childhood, Zhao Wan Ru had been very well educated by her parents and father. She always remembered that one must cherish those who cherish them. And this morning, Tai Leng Han had cared for and looked after Zhao Wan Ru quite a bit: closing the window, drawing the curtains so she wouldn't be scared by thunder, carefully closing the door so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable being stared at by others, thoughtfully blocking drinks for her at the party... Just one of those actions would have been enough to make Zhao Wan Ru unable to ignore or neglect Tai Leng Han. What's more, she also knew Tai Leng Han had a stomach illness.
With her deeply ingrained habit of living fairly and generously with emotions, Zhao Wan Ru decided to repay Tai Leng Han well. Although she wasn't very sure if Tai Leng Han's feelings for her were love, what he had done this morning was enough for Zhao Wan Ru to want to change her behavior towards him. At least, she wouldn't imitate Tai Leng Han, living so coldly, so dully, so harshly on himself. Being able to care for and look after those she loved and who loved her was also a joy, a kind of happiness that not everyone could feel. Zhao Wan Ru, however, really liked this. Before, she had always cared for and looked after her father. Now, she wanted to care for and look after... her husband.
