Chapter 8
The Gold-Rank Mission
Ling Feng looked up at Dai Qiao. From his position below, he could clearly see her cold face under the night light. Her downcast eyes held no emotion whatsoever.
Her pale purple eyes, as transparent as crystal, were chillingly cold.
Ling Feng seemed mesmerized, whispering, "What's the difference..."
Her ice-cold fingertips brushed across his neck, stopping at his slightly trembling Adam's apple.
Dai Qiao: "His life or death has nothing to do with me."
"But you are different. If you die, who will I have to play with?"
The voice, full of teasing, rang in his ear. Ling Feng widened his eyes in shock.
Then, he watched as Dai Qiao once again squeezed the small pink sphere in her hand!
Ling Feng’s gaze instantly became hazy, and a soft moan escaped his lips: "Mnh..."
He gritted his teeth hard, trying not to let that humiliating sound out.
[Humiliation Points +100!]
Dai Qiao was having more and more fun. Her eyes were fixed on the small sphere as if she were plotting something. "Does your spiritual manifestation like Guide pheromones?"
Ling Feng had just regained some clarity when he heard that. He was startled and tried to stop her: "No... Mnh!"
Too late.
Dai Qiao infused a bit of Guide pheromones into the small sphere and began kneading it like dough.
Knead once, add some pheromones.
Knead again, add a bit more.
The system's notifications for Humiliation Points rang incessantly in her ears. She continued playing until midnight, the total points adding up to nearly 1,000.
Finally, Ling Feng made no more sound; even his breathing was trembling.
The small sphere was as red as could be. It curled up sluggishly in Dai Qiao’s hand before shrinking and vanishing back into Ling Feng’s spiritual world.
Dai Qiao felt her trousers were soaked. Reaching down to check, she realized it was from Ling Feng’s tears; he had cried so much that the fabric on her leg was wet.
...
A few days later, the wounds on Ling Feng’s body were almost healed, and he could sit up and move normally.
On the way to Zone Z, they encountered many contaminated creatures blocking their path.
All of them were wiped out single-handedly by Shen Hanqiu.
After finishing this round, Shen Hanqiu walked straight toward Dai Qiao’s vehicle.
He tapped lightly on the window.
Dai Qiao rolled it down. "What is it?"
Shen Hanqiu smiled. "Do you remember the gold-rank mission we collaborated on?"
Dai Qiao naturally remembered. The mission location was near Zone Z. She had originally intended to use the mission as an opportunity to approach the zone and earn some contribution points along the way.
Shen Hanqiu continued, "The one who issued this mission is the Zone Z District Chief, Hua Yuan. He is nearby, and we need to go support him in completing the mission."
Who would have thought the mission was personally handed down by District Chief Hua Yuan himself?
Dai Qiao didn't know whether to call it a coincidence or something else.
She nodded. "I'll go with you."
Just as she was about to open the car door, her hand was caught by another.
Dai Qiao turned to look at Ling Feng, her gaze calm. "What? Can't bear to let go?"
[Humiliation Points +100!]
Over the past few days, Ling Feng had grown accustomed to Dai Qiao’s teasing.
Though he still felt embarrassed, he could now control his expression to hide his emotions.
His gaze lingered on Dai Qiao before shifting to Shen Hanqiu outside the car. He said softly, "I'm going with you."
Unexpectedly, Dai Qiao brushed his hand away. "You haven't fully recovered yet. Stay here and rest."
Ling Feng tried to persist. "I'm fine now, I can—"
Dai Qiao had already opened the car door and stepped out. She turned back to look at him and said bluntly, "You are only an A-rank Sentinel, and you haven't recovered."
"Gold-rank missions are very dangerous. If you go, you'll lose your life."
[Humiliation Points +200!]
Ling Feng’s face turned pale, and he stopped being stubborn.
At this moment, Shen Hanqiu smiled and spoke into the car: "Don't worry, I'll take care of her."
[Humiliation Points +200!]
Ling Feng looked directly into Shen Hanqiu’s eyes, his gaze cold.
As a fellow Sentinel, how could he not know what Shen Hanqiu was planning?
But Dai Qiao was not his contracted Guide; he had no right to stop her from interacting with other Sentinels.
Ling Feng rolled up the car window, decisively blocking Shen Hanqiu’s gaze.
Dai Qiao saw this Sentinel sulking for the first time and couldn't help but steal a few more glances. But the tinted glass prevented her from seeing his expression clearly.
Shen Hanqiu thought she was worried about Ling Feng and comforted her gently, "Don't worry, it's less than a two-day journey from here to Zone Z. I've also contacted the Zone Z Sentinels to come and meet them. They will arrive safely."
Dai Qiao only gave a faint "mm," her indifferent expression suggesting she didn't care much. "Lead the way. Where is Hua Yuan?"
