Apocalypse: Moonlight Clan's Survival

Returning Home

Chapter 31

Returning Home

After Cao Shudong stayed at the hotel for a few days, Tom called to say the goods had arrived and to meet at the shop.

Cao Shudong heard Tom's reply and immediately went to the shop.

Seeing the shop, it was open as usual, without any abnormalities.

Pushing open the shop door, Cao Shudong and Tom smiled at each other, and then she sat down on the sofa.

After sitting down, Tom smilingly handed Cao Shudong a tablet. Cao Shudong looked at Tom, asking with her eyes what it meant, and Tom signaled her to open and look.

She clicked open the tablet, and it immediately displayed images of weapons, with detailed introductions and prices, just like shopping software, where she could directly add items to the cart. The matching accessories for the weapons were clearly marked, allowing them to be added to the cart with one click.

Looking at these weapons, Cao Shudong felt extremely happy, practically unable to put the tablet down, dazzled and not knowing what to buy.

Originally, she had only decided to buy pistols and laser guns, but looking at these now, she really wanted to grab them all.

Her fingers kept scrolling through the screen, her excited mind gradually calming down. In the end, she decided to only buy pistols and laser guns.

Cao Shudong thought to herself that she should buy things within her means. She hadn't learned how to use other weapons and had no professional training; buying them back might just be a burden. Pistols and laser guns were much better, especially the automatic aiming function of the laser gun, which was very suitable for someone like her who had never touched a gun.

Cao Shudong told Tom the types and quantities of weapons she wanted to order.

After hearing Cao Shudong's words, Tom told her she could come collect the items tomorrow.

After paying the deposit, she went straight back to the hotel to process the products in her space.

The space was very large now, already having mountains, lakes, and even an ocean.

No matter when Cao Shudong entered the space, it was always bright, contrasting with the extreme night state of the apocalypse. The space never had night, presenting its best state to her every day.

Cao Shudong did her daily training in the space again, exhausting herself completely, and used her last bit of strength to plunge into the hot spring.

The warm steam enveloped her entire body, and her face turned rosy from the heat of the water.

Staying in the hot spring felt extremely comfortable, relaxing all her muscles as she closed her eyes to enjoy the post-intense-exercise recovery.

After recovering her strength in the space, she exited and went to sleep.

After exercise was the best time to sleep, at least for Cao Shudong.

After a comfortable night's sleep, she ate a hearty meal in the hotel the next day, keeping her phone closest to her, waiting for Tom's call, waiting for the weapons to arrive.

Amidst Cao Shudong's anticipation, the phone finally rang. She immediately answered, but it wasn't Tom; it was the real estate agent asking roughly when she could transfer the property, as the deadline was approaching.

Cao Shudong briefly agreed with the agent, saying she would discuss it with him after returning to the country, and told him it probably wouldn't take long to complete the procedures.

Hanging up, she placed her phone back within reach and started waiting while eating. Unfortunately, heaven seemed to be testing her; even after she finished her meal, Tom's call didn't come.

Just as she was dazing off, wondering if she had been scammed, Tom called, telling her she could come pick up the goods now.

Hearing these words, she bounced up from the bed, quickly packed everything, and checked out of the hotel.

She had planned everything; after getting the items today, she would immediately change cities and start traveling.

After arriving at Tom's shop, Cao Shudong directly asked Tom where the items were.

She followed Tom to the shop's warehouse, where there were two super large bags.

Tom opened the bags first, revealing the weapons Cao Shudong had been dreaming of. After she inventoried the contents of the two huge bags and found them completely consistent with her order, with nothing missing, she paid Tom the remaining balance.

Rejecting Tom's concern that she couldn't carry them and his offer to deliver them, she directly tucked the two bags under her arms on the spot and walked quickly out of the shop.

Leaving the shop, she turned left into an alley, then turned left and right into an even darker and more secluded alley. After checking that there was no one and no surveillance cameras around, she put all the weapons into her space.

Once her mind sensed that the items were placed in the small wooden cabin, she immediately left the alley and hailed a taxi to the airport.

The departure time for her flight was approaching, so she couldn't help but be anxious.

Sitting on the plane, she headed to her next destination.

During her travels, she collected many foreign plants and animals, staying abroad for over two months.

Originally, she hadn't planned to return so quickly, but on a certain sea, she saw evidence that she couldn't find on the internet or in the news—evidence that the apocalypse was about to arrive.

This evidence forced her to return home quickly and hunker down inside her custom-built apocalyptic fortress.

During her travels, she had crossed the ocean many times. After all, many small foreign countries were coastal, and they had turned these coastal locations into tourist resorts.

Wearing sunglasses, she lay back on a yacht chair, drinking juice, her nose catching the distinct salty scent of the sea, relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the ocean.

Suddenly, she noticed that the deep blue ocean in front of her seemed to become a bit different. She sat up straight, pushed her sunglasses down her nose, and looked carefully at the ocean.

As she watched, Cao Shudong placed her juice on the small side table, ran quickly to the ship's edge, took off her sunglasses, and looked at the water that was turning blacker by the second. It was turning black to the naked eye, gradually changing from deep blue to navy blue, and finally turning completely black.

Moreover, this blackness was gradually spreading behind her. From the current spreading trend, she knew the source might be ahead, but she didn't have the courage to check.

Looking at this scene, Cao Shudong only felt terror. She thought to herself that she still couldn't escape fate; the apocalypse was bound to come.

She steered the yacht back to the port, which hadn't been reached by the blackness yet, but probably wouldn't hold out for long.

Returning to the hotel, she checked flights back to her country. There were no direct flights, but there were layover flights.

She felt she couldn't wait another moment; she wanted to return home immediately and prepare all her things.

Fortunately, she had sold her house last month and moved her things to her new home, so she could move in directly upon returning.

Sitting on the plane, she recalled that in her previous life, all the oceans in the world turned completely black on October 9, 2040, and October 10 was the start of the Evernight. Who wouldn't connect these two major events? In her previous life, many people on the internet said the "Black Sea Event" was the starting point of the apocalypse.

Although the country didn't clarify it at the time, they didn't ban this claim either, so everyone felt it had some credibility.

Moreover, she didn't dare to say October 10 was the start of the end of the world because she was afraid of being called a lunatic. After all, this date was very special...

After a dozen hours of travel, she finally returned home, back to the place that was currently safest for her.

If calculated according to the arrival time of the Evernight in her previous life, there were only over half a month left.

It seemed she needed to stockpile more things, and she shouldn't keep too much money on her. She would withdraw a portion of cash to handle the early stages of the Evernight.
