Chapter 1
Special Training
Principal Shui returned from the department, a stack of documents in her hand, her face filled with gloom. As she walked down the hallway, she looked out at the schoolyard, where the sun beat down fiercely. Entering her office, she found it filled with parent complaints, transfer requests, resignation letters, and newspaper articles about the school.
"KNOCK" "KNOCK" "KNOCK" Vice Principal Song entered. His face was no different from the Principal's. He sat down at the table and began to speak with her:
"This won't do. We must send these kids to a special training camp for two weeks."
"Do you think that's wise?" She showed concern upon hearing his proposed measure. "It's not even the end of summer yet, and you're mobilizing them so early..."
"It has to be this way, Principal. There's no other choice. You've seen what the newspapers are saying, haven't you? The school's good reputation is slowly declining because of this class!" Vice Principal Song interjected before Principal Shui could finish. "Alright, I'll go down to the academic affairs office to tell Dean Vy and this class's homeroom teacher to send letters to their families." He said and left.
In the Academic Affairs Office, upon hearing Vice Principal Song, Dean Vy smiled triumphantly, for she had long listed a long line of ways to deal with these kids: "I'll show them!"
Mobilizing students before class assignments was already exhausting, but doing so for "problem" students was even more of a headache. The teachers were busy sending letters to each family, finding information on every student, and even having to notify newspapers to put it on the front page, and online as well.
At the homes of each student in class 8/, upon hearing their families talk about being mobilized to school two weeks early, the kids were quite excited. "Study – study – study" all day made them prefer going to school. But they didn't know the terror of the days leading up to school.
The whole class arrived on bicycles, but they wandered around for a while before reaching where the teachers were standing.
"Do you think we're just idling around waiting for you all?" Dean Vy snapped, hands on her hips, her face scrunched up.
"Just a little bit, why are you making such a big deal out of it?" Zhong retorted. "Still talking back, huh!!!"
"Teachers, this year if we cause trouble, we hope you'll be lenient. Don't frown too much, it'll make you ugly and age you quickly," Qiong said, representing the class.
"I'm afraid this year you won't be able to cause any more trouble, after you complete this special training course," the homeroom teacher said.
"Causing trouble is our innate talent, teachers. Whatever you do won't work, and it'll only make us more excited!" Guang smirked, provoking the teachers there.
Unable to argue with this class, the teachers didn't say much more. The training had now begun. The teachers gave orders for two straight weeks: waking up at four in the morning and not sleeping until ten at night. The whole group was utterly exhausted. This class was growing to hate this school more and more. But the more they angered this class, just wait, they would hold it in their hearts, waiting for the school year to explode, and then no one would be able to handle it... Dragging their bodies home, OH MY GOD!!! Finally, they were home! They ate like oxen and slept like hippos. Their families didn't care about them at all, so they didn't even know if they had come home. It was truly terrible. They recuperated for a week to gather strength for revenge.
