The Patronus Charm

Chapter 37

The Patronus Charm

The moment Snape drew a sharp breath, Wizette suddenly felt a sensation, receiving a piece of information.

He sensed within it a laziness, a perfunctory flattery, as if it were saying:

"Yes, whatever you say is right!"

"Indeed, no one would dare utter your sacred name!"

"No problem, I will do as you wish!"

...

The last time he received similar information was when he coincidentally encountered Draco's father – Lucius Malfoy.

Professor Snape's and Lucius's reactions were very similar; both almost immediately placed their right hand on their left forearm.

Wizette quickly stood up, asking with concern, "Professor Snape, are you alright?"

Professor Snape said nothing, his gaze becoming complex, constantly flickering with cold light and internal struggle.

His lips were pressed tightly together, and his eyebrows were also tightly furrowed, almost twisted into a knot.

Seeing Professor Snape's expression, Wizette felt a little uneasy.

This was the first time he realized... Professor Snape's expressions could be so rich; something significant must have happened.

"You..." Professor Snape finally spoke, his voice full of caution, dark and cold. "What is the current state of your Quietude?"

"Quietude?" Wizette was a little confused but still spoke truthfully. "I went to Sweden previously, and all the potential dangers of Quietude have been eliminated."

Professor Snape pursed his lips. "Show me..."

Wizette nodded, directly casting *Primal Force: Serene Form (Elementary)*, allowing a stream of black mist to swirl around him.

As the first professor to warn him to be wary of the outside world, he trusted Professor Snape greatly.

Professor Snape gripped his wand, his eyes slightly narrowed, meticulously probing the swirling black mist.

The tip of his wand emitted a warm silver light, continuously stirring within the swirling black mist.

After a few passes, he extinguished the silver light, retracted his wand, and his expression softened somewhat.

"Follow me!" He tossed out the command, adjusted his robes, and quickly vanished through the office door.

Wizette retracted the black mist around him, hastily following Professor Snape's footsteps.

...

Along the way, Wizette also encountered Harry, who was returning from training, accompanied by Ron.

Harry looked exhausted, his robes covered in mud, evidently having endured a grueling special training session.

Utterly drained, he clearly didn't want to provoke Professor Snape.

Unfortunately, Professor Snape was not in a good state, and he casually said to Harry: "Untidy attire in the corridor, two points from Gryffindor."

After saying this, his steps seemed to lighten slightly.

"Snape!" Harry gritted his teeth, glaring at Professor Snape's retreating back.

"Cleanse and renew completely!" Wizette waved his wand, using a Scouring Charm to clean the mud off Harry.

Having finished everything, he quickly sped up, ensuring he kept pace with Professor Snape.

Harry watched their figures disappear. "Ron... Do you think we should tell Professor McGonagall?"

"Tell her we had points unfairly deducted?" Ron shook his head. "Or tell her Wizette was bewitched by Snape and is running around with him? Neither sounds very good..."

Harry nodded, muttering with a hint of regret, "You're right. Take care, then..."

"Wizette will probably be fine," Ron reassured him. "I heard from the Hufflepuffs that Snape has never deducted points from him."
-------------------------------------
Professor Snape entered an abandoned classroom. As Wizette also stepped inside, a dilapidated wooden trunk in the corner suddenly bounced, then crashed to the floor with a clatter.

"A Boggart, do you know what it is?" Professor Snape asked.

Wizette nodded. "A very peculiar creature; it transforms into the shape of our deepest fears."

Professor Snape didn't reply. He raised the tip of his wand to his temple and drew out a silvery strand.

Wizette realized that Professor Snape was performing Legilimency, extracting a short memory, and making some alterations to it.

A few breaths passed, and he reinserted the silvery strand into his temple. "The curriculum has changed; you must master the Patronus Charm today."

"The Patronus Charm?" Wizette had just been learning about this magic in *The Standard Book of Spells*.

This magic was incredibly mysterious; he had searched his mind but found no specific origin date, only knowing that wizards had used it since ancient times.

Casting this magic could summon a magical guardian.

For many wizards, this magical guardian would only be a non-corporeal silvery mist.

Merely producing a non-corporeal silvery mist was not considered truly casting the Patronus Charm; only when the guardian became corporeal was the magic considered complete.

Wizards capable of conjuring a corporeal Patronus often had more opportunities than other wizards, and could be highly valued by the Wizengamot or the Ministry of Magic.

This distinction arose not only because the Patronus Charm was extremely complex but also because, to cast it, one needed to harness extremely positive, affirmative emotions.

Generally speaking, Dark wizards found it difficult to cast the Patronus Charm; even if they attempted it, they would suffer a 'wand backlash,' being consumed by the maggots brought forth by the backlash.

"Precisely, the Patronus Charm!" Professor Snape continued. "Even if you have mastered it, I may test you at any time; you must ensure you can perform the Patronus Charm at a moment's notice."

"Yes, Professor!" Wizette nodded.

To be able to learn another extremely difficult magic, he was naturally overjoyed, without the slightest resistance.

Snape's expression softened further, and he began to explain the magic in detail. "Patience and soul; those are what you need to pay attention to."

"As long as you can successfully cast this magic, you can, through the incantation, consciously explore your inner self. Note! This is a conscious, active process!"

Professor Snape mentioned that one could, through the Patronus Charm's incantation "Expecto Patronum," unearth one's positive emotions and thereby communicate with the soul.

This must be his unique interpretation; at least Wizette hadn't seen a similar description in *The Standard Book of Spells*.

The learning method in *The Standard Book of Spells* was that the caster must harness joyful emotions, by recalling happy memories, to increase the probability of successfully casting the Patronus Charm.

Joy was a positive emotion that most people could achieve, considered the most accessible emotion.

Besides joy, there were many other positive emotions.

Love for family, a partner, or friends was an extremely powerful positive emotion.

Additionally, gratitude, movedness, hope, pride, optimism, empathy... all were positive emotions that could be harnessed for the Patronus Charm...
