A Segment of Hagrid's Memory

A Segment of Hagrid's Memory

"Not yet." Wizette shook his head, "I used the keywords you just provided to conduct a preliminary search."

"Then I found that the scope is a bit broad... From the time James and his friends enrolled at Hogwarts until he started dating Lily, it took about six years."

"That long..." Hagrid murmured, "He always talked about Lily back then, I thought they had gotten together much earlier."

Wizette asked, "Hagrid, do you want to lock away all memories from these six years? Or do you want to keep a portion?"

Hagrid hastily said, "Of course, keep a portion, some things can still be told."

"In that case..." Wizette sighed softly, "I'll need more detailed keywords."

"Then let me think of another keyword..." Hagrid scratched his head, "'James and Snape didn't get along'... is that keyword okay?"

Upon hearing this, Wizette immediately frowned, "With Professor Snape... didn't get along?"

Hagrid nodded and said, "That's how it was back then, Slytherin and the other three houses didn't get along... Actually, it's not much different now."

"It was better when I was at school... Some Slytherins could still be talked to... Well, not really talked to much... Oh! Never mind! Let's not talk about this anymore!"

He shivered, seemingly recalling an unpleasant memory.

Wizette didn't press further, directly beginning to cast a spell, delving deep into Hagrid's memory.

With this keyword added, the scope of memories immediately narrowed a bit.

What surprised him was that the number of memories about "James and Snape not getting along" was unexpectedly large.

While sorting through the memories, Wizette couldn't help but be affected, feeling the content of the memories as if using a Pensieve.

Hagrid appeared in the Forbidden Forest on a late autumn day, walking a pack of dogs.

He held many leashes in his hands, and though they were taut, he maintained a calm, leisurely expression. Dozens of Crups ran ahead, desperately trying to bolt in all directions, their necks constricted by the leashes.

Crups looked very similar to Jack Russell terriers, the biggest difference being their forked tails. These were dogs intentionally bred by wizards, extremely loyal to their owners and much more aggressive than Jack Russell terriers.

Seeing the Crups' behavior, Hagrid gently coaxed them, neither fast nor slow: "Good pups, we're almost home, settle down a bit."

Compared to the "harmonious and joyful" scene between Hagrid and his dogs, Wizette noticed a place not far away where the voices were not so harmonious.

"Padfoot, look!" a somewhat ostentatious and flippant voice rang out, "While Lily isn't here, let's go over there quickly! Right! Don't you interfere later!"

The name "Padfoot" confirmed Wizette's conjecture that the Marauder's Map was related to Harry's father.

Along with the rustling of dry leaves underfoot, the ostentatious and flippant voice grew louder: "Aha! Look who it is! It's Snivellus!"

Hearing this nickname, Wizette immediately frowned.

Clearly, this nickname was aimed at Snape.

Under the effect of the spell, the memory was not one-sided but could construct a complete scene through the wizard's direct or indirect senses.

Wizette followed the footsteps and saw four students forming a human wall, blocking the path of a lone student.

He took a few more steps, standing between the two groups of students, and immediately recognized the lone student as a young Snape.

Though pale, the young Snape stood ramrod straight, like an unopened aconite flower, cold, harsh, and harboring danger.

James's appearance was also easily recognizable, his thin face very similar to Harry's, the features strikingly alike, only his hair was completely untrimmed, looking like a hedgehog. The only slightly strange thing was that a hint of pink seemed visible at the tip of his hedgehog-like hair.

Young Snape lowered his eyes, looking at the four students in front of him as if they were four piles of withered leaves and grass.

"The Potions class incident was your doing, wasn't it?" James blinked his brown eyes, "That potion bottle I brought to the front of the class suddenly exploded!"

A handsome youth beside him slung an arm around James's shoulder, grinning. Though his smile was a bit exaggerated, it exuded elegance and composure: "I won't forget it... that brilliant pink color!"

James glared, shaking off his handsome friend's arm, "Padfoot, stop it!"

"Sorry! You have to apologize!" a short, plump youth with short, ash-gray hair like a mouse's fur squeaked.

"Really?" Young Snape yawned, "The corridor suddenly had a pile of sticky goo, that was your doing, wasn't it?"

He tilted his head slightly, his eyes looking straight, staring down at James.

"Prongs..." a gaunt-faced youth spoke up, "How about you two each take a step back? There's no need to..."

James raised an eyebrow, his expression somewhat incredulous, "Moony?"

"Headmaster Dumbledore just said yesterday that he hoped students from all four houses could live in peace..." Moony sighed, "I think he's right."

"Of course, Headmaster Dumbledore's idea is great..." James nodded, seemingly agreeing, "But we have to resolve this matter first!"

Immediately after, he raised his wand.

Young Snape acted even faster than James, as if he had anticipated what James would do.

Wizette frowned; the dispute between the two sides must have been ongoing for some time, otherwise Snape wouldn't have reacted so quickly.

"Langlock!"

An invisible magical current appeared, sweeping up a few dry leaves.

James's mouth hung open, his tongue visibly stuck to the roof of his mouth, seemingly unable to separate.

Based on his knowledge, Wizette immediately analyzed that this was a vicious curse that could glue the victim's tongue to their palate. Most importantly, he had never seen this curse before. With his understanding of Snape, this must be a spell Snape created himself.

For him, Snape gaining the upper hand was a good thing.

"Didn't expect Snivellus to have some skill!" Padfoot's voice was somewhat surprised, but he had no intention of intervening.

After being cursed, James also reacted very quickly, immediately bending down and lunging forward, intending to close the distance with Snape.

"Sectumsempra!"

Snape continuously retreated, while also continuously chanting.

He waved his hand, unleashing two streams of sword light, sending countless dry leaves and withered grass flying, instantly creating a chaotic scene.

"Shield Charm!"

Seeing the sword light about to hit James, Moony also acted. He raised his wand, casting a Shield Charm, blocking the sharp streams of sword light.

He still advised a few more words: "Prongs, how about we stop... There's no need for this."

"Don't be like that, if he wants to play, let him play!" Padfoot crossed his arms, his voice lazy.
