Chapter 6
My Beloved
At noon, when she went down to the cafeteria to eat, the girl had to constantly dodge the bullet-like stares of other girls. She sat down in a spot, took out her book, and started reading. After sitting for a while, her eyes kept twitching, signaling an ominous day ahead. Wei came out, carrying a bag of food, and handed her a lunchbox. Just then, the Five Great Male Gods entered the cafeteria. The girl flinched, while Wei, sitting opposite her, had heart-shaped eyes fluttering. Sometimes the girl would get annoyed at Wei's infatuation with boys, but it was her own fault, not Wei's. She looked up, glanced around, and then said:
"What do you want with me, Pockmarked Face?" the girl said, then drank some water.
"I come when I want to come. Oh, right, from now on, you'll be a member of the student council of CIA University."
"So what? If you have nothing else to say, please leave. You're blocking my reading light."
"Remember this. Come to the council room after morning classes."
The people behind them stifled their laughter. The girl put on her headphones to listen to music, then left the cafeteria, not forgetting to drag her boy-crazy best friend along. She walked down the road and sat on a stone bench, humming the new song that was topping the music charts this week and might hold its position next week. She wasn't into the current youth bands but liked the genre of youth music. At that moment, she felt very peaceful, hoping nothing would disturb her in this moment. But life isn't a dream; the bell rang, and she had to go back to class. She cursed whoever rang the bell.
The girl wasn't one to break promises. At the end of morning classes, she said goodbye to Wei and went to the council room. As she stepped in, she saw one of them who had just come out of the shower, wrapped only in a towel below. The girl stared at his abs and said:
"What's your name?"
"Deng Huang Ming."
"Oh, why did you call me here?"
The guys stared at the girl. She was quite tall, about 1m72, with long hair, large round black eyes, chubby cheeks, and lips as pink as cherry blossoms. Qing walked around her, assessing her. The girl got furious and left.
"Who said you could leave?"
"I said I could leave. Do you have the right to forbid me?" — she was super domineering.
"You do that pile of paperwork."
The girl peeked over Qing's shoulder. Ming looked at her face, smiling brightly, which seemed dangerous. The girl nodded abruptly and sat down at the desk to work. After about 30 minutes, one of the guys turned to look. This was Wu Qing Deng. The two guys sitting on either side were Huang Ri Nan and Li An Jun. Deng looked at the girl. He turned back to his friends and said:
"She's asleep."
"Who said she could sleep?"
"It's all done."
While she was sleeping, everyone looked at her. They saw her smiling, and in her sleep, she mumbled:
"Give me back the cake, Ming Jun... or else..."
Ming Jun, who was Ming Jun? This made the guys curious and annoyed. Who exactly was that person? The girl woke up and said:
"I'm going to see my beloved. And that pile of paperwork, I've finished it."
The girl walked out of the room, humming a song and smiling.
