Officer Furuya: The Organization's Brainwashing Scheme

The American Hero

Chapter 43

The American Hero

Inside the police car, Jiang Gu Ling was unconscious, his head tilted to one side. An FBI agent reached out to touch his face, feeling an unusual texture but failing to find a way to remove the disguise.

Sensing the other's movements, Jiang Gu Ling felt a wave of relief. Fortunately, this layer of fake skin could be switched to a standard disguise state. Compared to Bei Er Ma De's technique, it was much more resilient; an ordinary person couldn't possibly peel it off. The FBI agent fumbled for a long time without finding a way to remove the mask, feeling extremely frustrated.

The blonde female FBI agent beside him slapped his hand away. Zhu Di snapped, "Stop touching him! You look like a pervert!"

The male agent sheepishly withdrew his hand. Jiang Gu Ling leaned against the car window, speechless. His current sensation was very strange. He had a sense of touch, but even though his hands were cuffed behind his back in a very uncomfortable position, his consciousness felt no pain or fatigue.

Suddenly, he heard a phone ringing from Zhu Di's pocket.

"Shu?"

"Zhu Di, have you caught the person?" The phone quality wasn't great; Jiang Gu Ling noticed he could clearly hear the man's voice on the other end despite the distance. Although the voice was slightly distorted over the phone, he recognized who it was immediately.

"That's right." Zhu Di looked at the "unconscious" Jiang Gu Ling and remarked, "It seems his weakness was exploited. This move by Meng Tai Ge was like pulling the fuel from under the pot."

"However..." Zhu Di frowned, looking at the colleagues around her who were all "family," so she didn't hesitate to continue: "If his goal was to arrest Meng Tai Ge, then the opponent must have committed crimes we don't know about. Shu, are we just going to let him go like this?"

The other end was silent for a moment. Jiang Gu Ling thought this FBI agent was still too naive.

"Zhu Di, why do you think someone in Meng Tai Ge's position would have clean hands?" Chi Jing Xiu Yi asked in return.

Zhu Di was stunned. Right—people like Meng Tai Ge, their superiors certainly knew what they had done. Perhaps their superiors were even involved in those dark dealings.

The atmosphere in the car turned silent.

"Forget it." Chi Jing Xiu Yi rubbed his temples. "Since the 'American Hero' has been caught, leave the rest to you. I have other matters."

"Shu, aren't you going to interrogate him?" Zhu Di asked. Previously, Chi Jing Xiu Yi had shown great interest in this person.

"No need." Although he really wanted to see how the opponent existed with his own eyes, now wasn't the time. Chi Jing Xiu Yi had more important things to do. Zhan Mu Si had promised to protect that child; there was no need to worry for now. Who knows, maybe this child could shine in the FBI. After dealing with the Organization, he would come back to interact with him.

Chi Jing Xiu Yi, holding onto good hopes, hung up. The police car drove straight to the FBI headquarters. Zhu Di and her colleagues helped Jiang Gu Ling into the interrogation room, sat him in a chair, and moved the handcuffs from behind his back to the front of the table.

Jiang Gu Ling calculated the time. When he saw it was appropriate, he voluntarily neutralized the effects of the fake anesthetic. He slowly opened his eyes, squinting at the bright lights, and tried to shield his eyes but was held back by the handcuffs. At this moment, he appeared fully awake.

Through the one-way glass, Zhu Di and Zhan Mu Si saw the youth disguised as a young man quickly adapt to the environment. His gaze darted around warily, then he disdainfully toyed with the handcuffs. In the blink of an eye, to their astonishment, he pulled out a pin, picked the lock in seconds, and shook the cuffs in front of the glass.

"What's wrong? Aren't you going to come in and chat with me?" Jiang Gu Ling gave a wicked smile, full of provocation, emphasizing each letter: "F...B...I."

The FBI agents outside were flustered. No one expected the captive to break free so quickly. Zhan Mu Si's superior, Ke Er Nai Ni, glared at Zhu Di: "Did you not search him thoroughly?!"

The grand FBI was being provoked by a criminal right to their faces! Zhu Di and her colleagues could only take the scolding in silence; they had indeed been too careless.

A group of FBI agents armed with guns burst into the interrogation room as if dealing with the most dangerous criminal. Jiang Gu Ling curled his lip, tossed the handcuffs aside, and raised his hands above his head. Facing so many barrels, he wasn't foolish enough to resist.

This time, the "American Hero" was searched so thoroughly that not even a mosquito could have been hidden. He was cuffed to the table, and the person sitting across from him this time was an acquaintance—An De Ni, the man who had led the operation to capture him.

"Oh, where is that Mr. Chi Jing?" Jiang Gu Ling asked with an innocent face. "I still haven't officially met him." He looked at An De Ni's bald head and kindly reminded him, "Uncle An De Ni should rest more. Otherwise, you'll not only lose hair but also years off your life."

An De Ni suppressed his anger. "Thank you, don't bother yourself."

"No problem, it's what I should do." Jiang Gu Ling smiled, looking as relaxed as if he were on a tour rather than an interrogation. Seeing the other's silence, he teased again: "Why isn't Uncle An De Ni asking anything? Weren't you going to interrogate me? Ah, I see. Poor Uncle, you can't catch me, and now you don't even know how to interrogate me?"

An De Ni felt this person wasn't normal. Who had such a bizarre thought process? "This is the FBI headquarters, not your home!"

The door opened, and Ke Er Nai Ni walked in, replacing An De Ni. He placed a thick stack of files on the table and looked seriously at Jiang Gu Ling.

"Name."

"You." Jiang Gu Ling smiled. "Consider me as having no surname, because my father was a piece of trash. My mother, however, was pure Russian."

Ke Er Nai Ni was startled. "You're Russian?"

"Don't be so worried." Jiang Gu Ling winked. "I don't have a nationality, and my biological father was American anyway. Who knows, maybe I'm a Russian spy sent here?" He laughed wickedly, mocking the FBI's anxiety. "Just kidding, sorry."

Ke Er Nai Ni tried to stay calm, deciding not to be led by the other's words. "What is your real appearance?"

Jiang Gu Ling looked surprised. "You mean you still don't know?" He reached for his face and peeled off the fake skin, revealing the familiar white-haired, blue-eyed youth.

Ke Er Nai Ni frowned. "Is this real?" He didn't believe the opponent would use his real face for his deeds.

"Of course. If you don't believe me, feel free to touch it." Jiang Gu Ling was nonchalant. Ke Er Nai Ni hesitated then stood up to touch it; it indeed felt very real.

Outside, Bei Er Ma De, in her disguise as Agent Xi Ge Li De, watched this and gritted her teeth. She hadn't even touched that beautiful face yet! She thought to herself that after rescuing Jiang Gu Ling, she would get as close as she wanted to this beautiful youth. She secretly sent a message to her teammates outside to prepare for action.

In the room, Jiang Gu Ling began to cause trouble. He kicked the table hard, causing the edge to hit Ke Er Nai Ni's chest, making him wince in pain. "Hey Uncle, where is Mr. Chi Jing? I have nothing to say to you people. Those not on my level should stay out of this."

He, Jiang Gu Ling, a Japanese Public Security officer, was intentionally causing chaos at the FBI headquarters. Finally, a headache-stricken Ke Er Nai Ni ordered him to be taken to a temporary holding cell. Jiang Gu Ling smiled at the camera, lay down on the bed, and used his body to block the view while reading the note Bei Er Ma De had slipped him earlier.

The note told him not to worry; the Organization would rescue him soon. Jiang Gu Ling tore the note to shreds and stuffed them into the blanket, closing his eyes to wait. He knew the Organization wouldn't use peaceful means; they wanted to turn the "American Hero" into a true wanted criminal to pull him into the darkness. That didn't matter, because the FBI's records only showed the face of a white-haired youth, having nothing to do with Jiang Gu Ling of the Japanese Public Security.

Suddenly, the entire power system of the FBI building was paralyzed. Intruders. The FBI agents were quickly taken down by tranquilizer guns. The door to Jiang Gu Ling's cell was kicked open. A man with long silver hair stood against the light.

"Let's go, brat."

The familiar cold voice rang out. Jiang Gu Ling sat up, looked at the FBI agent slumped on the floor with a tranquilizer needle in his neck, and smiled faintly.
