Chapter 24
We Don't Have Your Good Fortune
Wang Yong Gui, however, was in no hurry. He gently pushed Su Wan He back, his heart racing as he looked at her beautiful appearance, a smile playing on his lips.
"What's this? You want to do it here? Wan He, you're really greedy, still not satisfied."
At this moment, Su Wan He looked like the Drunken Consort, her beauty capable of putting flowers to shame. Her flushed face was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Don't I know you? Wouldn't you be the happiest doing it here?"
Wang Yong Gui waved his hand. "We just ate our fill, so we shouldn't. Besides, this is your house, and I feel this spot isn't very good. I want to go to the bedroom. Since that's Tan An Kang's room, I think being with you in there would be much better."
Su Wan He rolled her eyes at him with a smile, then suddenly thought of something and reached out to tap the tip of his nose.
"You really know how to enjoy yourself. Go and wait for me then!"
Wang Yong Gui nodded and went straight to the bedroom, taking in the surroundings. On the dressing table next to the bed, there was still a wedding photo of Tan An Kang and Su Wan He. Tan An Kang wore a suit, looking very dapper, his face filled with a joyful and happy smile. Truth be told, in his youth, Tan An Kang was quite handsome and tall, wearing a pair of glasses that made him look very refined.
Su Wan He wore a wedding dress, her smile breathtakingly beautiful. She too looked filled with happiness, her head resting on Tan An Kang's shoulder as they took their wedding photo.
This couple had once been the envy of so many, driving others to bitter jealousy. They had lived together for so many years without major arguments, treating each other with mutual respect. Yet, no one expected things to end up this way.
Honestly, it was a bit of a pity.
Su Wan He walked to the main entrance. Actually, it was still early, just past eight in the evening, but the sky had already turned pitch black. She eagerly closed the front door and secured it with the wooden latch. Her heart racing like wild grass, she also locked the living room door before heading back to the bedroom.
As soon as she entered, she eagerly locked the bedroom door. Just as she was about to walk over, she saw Wang Yong Gui standing in front of the dressing table, staring at the wedding photo and muttering to himself,
"They really were a perfect match."
Su Wan He was stunned. She also looked at the photo. Seeing the sweet smiles of their past selves, she felt a pang of nostalgia mixed with a trace of anger when she compared it to the present.
She walked over slowly and said, "Yong Gui, let me put this photo away, or maybe I'll burn it as firewood tomorrow."
But Wang Yong Gui grabbed her hand, pulling her slender figure into his embrace as they both stared at the photo.
"No need, don't destroy it. Keep it."
Su Wan He was puzzled. "But leaving it here, doesn't it make you feel uncomfortable? It certainly does for me." Wang Yong Gui gave a mischievous smile, his hands starting to wander as if practicing Tai Chi.
Su Wan He squirmed.
"I don't know! Looking at this wedding photo of such a perfect couple makes me a bit jealous. Leaving it here makes my heart race even more. It feels better this way, and it'll make me want to come protect you more often in the future."
Su Wan He immediately understood his thoughts and smiled.
"Alright! Whatever you say."
Though she said that, looking at the smiles in the photo still made her feel a bit uneasy and tingly. As they began, she didn't know why, but her heart started beating exceptionally fast.
*Creak.*
Holding each other, sometimes leaning against the wardrobe, the two of them could barely stand straight, swaying as if drunk. They turned off the lights, fearing that someone passing by outside might notice and come to eavesdrop.
It had rained heavily for the past few days, but now the sky had cleared, and since it was this season, the weather was bright and sunny.
So tonight, as darkness fell, the moon shining through the clouds was very bright and round. The moonlight streamed through the window; in truth, turning off the lights made little difference, only adding a touch of haziness. Looking at Su Wan He like this, he felt she was even more beautiful in the dim light, stirring their hearts.
After a long silence, they let go of each other. At Wang Yong Gui's request, though Su Wan He was hesitant, she shyly nodded in agreement.
Standing by the window with her back turned, she slowly took off her clothes and tossed them aside.
Wang Yong Gui stood still, his eyes wide. Slowly, he beheld her back, glowing like the moon in the sky, with a slender waist that made his heart leap.
Before long, Su Wan He must have felt embarrassed. She turned around and immediately stepped forward to hug Wang Yong Gui tightly.
Wang Yong Gui, however, remained still and pointed at the photo. Su Wan He was slightly confused.
"Is your wedding dress still around?"
"Ah? What do you want to do!"
"You said you'd only belong to me from now on. Call me husband!"
Hearing this and looking at the photo, Su Wan He was momentarily stunned, finding it hard to utter the word.
Wang Yong Gui stood there waiting, while Su Wan He bit her red lips.
"Husband."
Hearing this single word, Wang Yong Gui felt it penetrate deep into his heart, making his soul dance with joy.
"Wife."
Hearing Wang Yong Gui's response, Su Wan He's heart fluttered, and she hugged him even tighter.
"If it's still here, put on the wedding dress! We can consider it our wedding."
Su Wan He understood his desire. She currently had nothing on. Though embarrassed, she slowly walked to the wardrobe, opened the door, and squatted down, her figure highly prominent under the moonlight.
Then, from the bottom drawer, she pulled out a box. She closed the wardrobe door, stood up, and walked over.
It was clear she had kept it well-preserved. Opening the box, the dress was almost brand new. Shyly, she put it on, and her entire aura transformed.
Tan An Kang and Su Wan He were considered well-off in Taohua Village. Moreover, they both had jobs, money, and were educated, so they followed modern trends.
When they married, she had worn this thin, white Western-style wedding dress.
Su Wan He also fastened the veil onto her hair.
She stood before him, her beautiful eyes staring blankly at Wang Yong Gui.
Wang Yong Gui compared her to the photo. Although she was the same person, time had brought changes.
In the photo, Su Wan He looked extremely young, her smile like a blooming flower.
Looking at her now, her slender figure was much more mature than in the photo, and certain parts looked exceptionally voluptuous, stirring an intense desire.
As Wang Yong Gui gazed at her, he felt Su Wan He was even more beautiful and captivating now.
Unable to hold back any longer, Wang Yong Gui began to take action.
The photo sat there, the sweet and happy smiles of the couple seemingly watching the two of them on the bed.
"Wife, do you have protection here? We should be careful."
"Husband, you know me. I'm not afraid. I'm your wife now, and I just want to be with you like this for the rest of my life."
"What if you get pregnant? Would you be willing to bear me a chubby little boy?"
Su Wan He hesitated for a moment, looking at Wang Yong Gui's face, her heart deeply moved. Women were like this—once they fell in love, they would lose their heads and become foolishly devoted, disregarding everything else.
In fact, her possessiveness was even stronger than a man's.
"I don't believe your luck is that good. But if it really happens, of course I'm willing. After all, I'm your woman now! Just promise you won't grow to dislike me like Tan An Kang did. I am older, so it's best to have a child while I'm still relatively young."
Hearing this, Wang Yong Gui was incredibly thrilled. He had never dared to dream that such a day would come.
"You are too beautiful. If I don't make you mine, I, Wang Yong Gui, swear I am not fit to be a man."
Meanwhile, in the dark of the night, at the old village chief's house.
Wu Xuan Yan and Pan Sheng Lin finished their dinner and slowly walked out of the yard to the open flat ground in front of the house.
In the evenings, it was customary for many men to go shirtless or wear tank tops, holding palm-leaf fans as they strolled over to sit and chat under the large tree in front of the house.
Pan Sheng Lin walked ahead, greeting everyone with smiles and finding a place to sit.
Wu Xuan Yan also went over, chatting briefly with a few women. Looking somewhat distracted, she smiled and said she was full from dinner and wanted to take a walk.
"Auntie, why don't you join me for a walk?"
An older woman nearby declined. "You came down from the big city and are used to taking walks. We don't have your good fortune. We work hard during the day, so we want to rest well after dinner."
Wu Xuan Yan wasn't offended and smiled. "Haha, we're all in the same village, what's there to say about good or bad fortune? Rest up then! I'll go for a walk to clear my head."
With that, Wu Xuan Yan turned and walked away at a leisurely pace along the village road. She walked further and further into the dark night until she disappeared from everyone's sight.
