Chapter 12
Yanran, Let Me Give It a Try
The next day.
Shen Feng left the Yunlan Sect and went to the imperial capital once again, walking straight toward the massive manor of the Nalan Clan.
Approaching that majestic manor, Shen Feng saw quite a few people gathered around the entrance. These people were all wearing Alchemist robes, with bright silver waves embroidered on their chests, proudly displaying their identity and rank. On the street where people came and went, anyone passing by would cast envious and respectful looks toward the group of whispering Alchemists. In their hearts, Alchemists were a noble profession akin to royalty.
Toward these Alchemists who possessed significant influence, the Nalan Clan clearly did not dare to be negligent. At the door, several servants were respectfully conversing with the Alchemists waiting outside, inviting them in only after confirming their actual strength. As for those Alchemists whose strength was questionable, they could only be politely turned away with a smile. Although this action caused some dissatisfaction among the blocked Alchemists, thinking of the Nalan Clan's power and the relationship between Nalan Yanran and the Yunlan Sect, they could only leave in frustration, flicking their sleeves.
Observing for a while, Shen Feng discovered that the Alchemists allowed inside were all Tier 3 Alchemists. Those turned away were Tier 2, and there were even Tier 1 Alchemists who had just come to watch the excitement.
"It seems the Nalan Clan has reached the end of their rope, desperately seeking any cure they can find." Shen Feng shook his head helplessly, stepping toward the heavily guarded main gate of the Nalan Clan.
Pushing through the crowd, Shen Feng took a step forward, and an old man who looked like a butler quickly came to greet him.
"This young master, I am the butler of the Nalan Clan. May I know what business you have?" Seeing that Shen Feng did not have an Alchemist badge on his chest, the butler asked with some doubt but still very politely.
"I am Mitel Shen Feng. Please inform Miss Nalan." Shen Feng said with a smile.
"Mitel Shen Feng? A member of the Mitel Clan?" Hearing this, the butler glanced at Shen Feng in slight surprise, then nodded, turning to instruct a servant.
"Young Master Shen Feng, please follow me to the guest room to have some tea. I have already sent someone to inform the young lady." The old butler bowed slightly to Shen Feng, his tone carrying honorifics due to his status.
Shen Feng nodded, keeping a smile on his face the entire time as he slowly followed the butler through the main gate. Walking behind the butler, Shen Feng observed this luxurious manor, its tall and grand architecture making him nod in approval. The Nalan Clan indeed lived up to its reputation as one of the three major clans of the Jia Ma Empire; such wealth and power were not something an ordinary clan could compare to.
Walking on the small path paved with blue stones, Shen Feng's eyes suddenly narrowed slightly. He sensed that since stepping deep into the Nalan Clan, subtle gazes and soul perceptions had begun to shoot out from hidden corners, capturing his every move.
Inadvertently raising his head, his gaze casually swept across a corner of the eaves. There, several dark figures were hidden in the shadows, their sharp arrows, painted black to prevent light reflection, slowly moving with his footsteps. Any slight disturbance would cause them to launch an attack immediately.
"The defense is indeed very tight..." Shen Feng furrowed his brows and shook his head helplessly. The Nalan Clan's current situation was indeed very tense; once the Old Master Nalan had an issue, the Nalan Clan might collapse. Therefore, they naturally had to guard carefully, not giving other clans any opportunity to take advantage.
A moment later, Shen Feng followed the butler to a side hall.
"Young Master Shen Feng, please wait here. I have sent someone to inform the young lady; she should be here shortly." The butler ordered someone to serve tea to Shen Feng and then left the side hall.
"Senior Brother..." Shen Feng was drinking tea, and before he had waited long, Nalan Yanran rushed in.
"Senior Brother, I missed you so much. Why did it take you so long to visit me?" Seeing Shen Feng, Nalan Yanran was like a little bird returning to its nest, throwing herself directly into his arms.
Shen Feng tightly hugged her soft body, gently patting her back to comfort her. "During this past period, I was focused on cultivation because of the sect assembly. As soon as the assembly ended, I came to visit you."
"Senior Brother, I heard that you won first place and were even appointed as the Young Sect Master by the Master!" Nalan Yanran looked at Shen Feng excitedly, her heart filled with pride. Her man was the most outstanding! She wanted to prove her vision to the Nalan family; her Senior Brother was not someone a useless person like Xiao Yan could compare to.
"Yes, from now on, I am the Young Sect Master of the Yunlan Sect." Shen Feng took out the green token that Yun Yun had given him, gently pinching Nalan Yanran's nose.
"By the way, Senior Brother, didn't you invite Elder Gu He? With your current status as the Young Sect Master, he would surely give you some face, right?" Nalan Yanran looked around the grand hall and did not see Pill King Gu He, asking with some confusion. Last time, Shen Feng had promised to invite Pill King Gu He to cure her grandfather's poison.
"Yanran, the poison in your grandfather's body is something even Elder Gu He cannot resolve." Shen Feng said.
"Ah! Then what should we do?" Hearing this, Nalan Yanran's face fell, and she said anxiously, "The poison in Grandfather's body cannot be delayed any longer."
Shen Feng comforted her, "Yanran, let me give it a try. Perhaps I can cure the Luo Poison in the Old Master's body."
"Let you try?" Nalan Yanran was startled. "Senior Brother, even Pill King Gu He is helpless. Do you have a way? You are not an Alchemist, how do you know how to cure poison?"
Shen Feng's proposal to cure the poison surprised Nalan Yanran. This Luo Poison was not something just anyone could cure; even the Chairman of the Alchemist Association had admitted to being powerless. How could Shen Feng do it?
"Yanran, if you trust me, let me try once." Shen Feng did not explain too much; once the poison was cured, she would naturally believe him.
Hearing this, Nalan Yanran hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she still chose to trust Shen Feng. "Then Senior Brother, follow me. I will take you to see Grandfather."
After speaking, Nalan Yanran pulled Shen Feng out of the side hall. A moment later, Shen Feng followed her to a luxurious hall, and through the half-open door, quite a few people could be seen standing inside.
