Fortunate Survival (Part One)

No sooner had he swallowed the two Medicinal Pills than his keen ears caught the sound of light footsteps approaching from more than ten zhang beyond the door. Lei Dong dared not move, patiently waiting. His ears clearly discerned that this was likely not a cultivator, but very possibly a mortal. Against a mortal, he had nothing to fear.

Not long after, the person reached the door and cautiously pushed it open. However, upon seeing Lei Dong seated on the bed, her eyes fixed on him, a hint of pleasant surprise appeared in her gaze. She let out a muffled sound and gesticulated wildly. She seemed to be a mute!

What surprised Lei Dong somewhat was that not only was she mute, but she also had a large red spot on her face, making her appear extremely ugly. Yet, her eyes were exceptionally pure, like a clear stream flowing through a mountain gorge, transparent and unblemished. Seeing that Lei Dong had awakened, she seemed very happy. In her hands, she carried a small bowl, and she took a few steps forward to place it on the table. She affectionately used various gestures to communicate with him.

"Was it you who saved me?"

Lei Dong regained his composure, looking at her intently as he spoke.

The girl was startled, but quickly nodded. She gesticulated to him.

Lei Dong nodded solemnly again, then asked.

"Do you know how to read? I don't understand your hand gestures."

Lei Dong did not offer thanks to her. This kind of life-saving grace could not be expressed with a mere word of gratitude.

The mute girl's expression dimmed, and she slowly shook her head.

This was a bit troublesome. Lei Dong frowned slightly. But it was nothing; if this mute girl had saved him, she naturally expected a reward. However, at present, he needed to quickly heal his injuries. Only by recovering his strength soon could he feel at ease. Lei Dong did not know where this place was, but he knew that in any place under the heavens, one truth held: the strong reigned supreme, and strength was king.

Seeing Lei Dong remain silent, the mute girl picked up a broken bowl and scooped a bowl of soup from the large pot. She carefully brought it to Lei Dong, gently spooning a mouthful to his lips.

Lei Dong was already a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, and his Cultivation Base was not low. It had been a long time since he had eaten anything. As long as True Qi remained in his body, he would not feel hungry even if he went a month without food. He could completely use True Qi to replace the energy obtained from food. This was the legendary Bigu state. Of course, to satisfy his cravings, Lei Dong would still eat something regularly.

He sniffed the soup; it was a bit fishy, but extremely fragrant, likely some kind of fish soup. Perhaps because of his injuries, or because he hadn't eaten in a very long time, he was truly a bit hungry at this moment. Seeing her eyes filled with affection and anticipation, he did not want to disappoint her. He smiled at her and directly slurped down the spoonful of soup. Indeed, the soup's flavor was rich and delicious. It felt as if a warm current gently cleansed his entire body. His spirit also trembled. Although Lei Dong's body and Divine Sense were severely injured, his physique was far from ordinary; he could still move a little. He smiled at her again, reaching out to take the bowl from her. He scooped it himself and brought it to his mouth, and soon finished the entire bowl of fish soup. Although people like Lei Dong had tasted countless delicacies far superior to those of mortals, this fish soup made him feel that life was unexpectedly beautiful. What made him feel a little strange was that this fish soup clearly had the effect of healing the spirit. The nearly depleted True Qi in his body also slowly recovered.

After finishing the fish soup, Lei Dong began to talk to her. Although she was mute, she was not deaf. This was indeed a joyous matter. Each time he asked her, he would state his own conjectures, and she would respond with a nod or shake of her head. Gradually, Lei Dong began to form a concept. He must be on an island, and this girl must be a fisherwoman. Although she was not old, her skin was very dark and rough. Furthermore, Lei Dong had learned that she had fished him out of the sea.

Lei Dong calculated briefly, estimating that he had probably been blown to some unknown place by the whirlpool called "Wrath of the Sea God." Moreover, it was likely not within the Yaksha Tribe's sea territory. Otherwise, first, the Yaksha King would not have allowed him to drift freely on the sea. Second, there were no humans living on islands within the Yaksha Tribe's sea territory.

After understanding the situation, Lei Dong felt that the important task now was to quickly recover from his injuries and True Qi. Otherwise, if he encountered an expert, he would not even have the strength to protect himself. So he asked the mute girl.

"On this island, are there any extremely powerful or terrifying people or monsters?"

The mute girl thought for a moment, then shook her head somewhat blankly. But when Lei Dong asked if there were any extremely fierce people or monsters here, the mute girl showed a terrified expression, extremely frightened. She nodded repeatedly in panic.

Lei Dong understood, then told her.

"I need to treat my injuries. You don't need to tell anyone else, and don't approach me, otherwise, there will be danger."

After repeating these words several times and refusing her help, she finally understood. She stepped back a few paces, sitting directly on a chair, looking at Lei Dong with some curiosity.

Lei Dong paid no mind. After grinning at her, he swallowed two more Medicinal Pills. He sat cross-legged on the bed, slowly closing his eyes, and began to heal. He did not attempt to summon Ghost Guards or anything similar. Given the extent of his Divine Sense damage, he might not necessarily be able to suppress a Ghost Guard. Even a Lifebound Ghost Servant, if the disparity in strength was too great, there would be a small chance of being backlashed.

His heart quickly settled. True Qi gradually diffused from his Dantian throughout his limbs. When encountering blocked or damaged Meridians, Lei Dong dared not rush, but carefully used True Qi to gently heal and massage them. In this way, the injured areas would slowly recover.

Additionally, his displaced and injured internal organs also needed some True Qi to return them to their original positions.
