Chapter 46
I Am So Hungry
Bai Qi Wei opened his mouth, desire almost overflowing from his eyes. He didn't want to wait another second; the act of silkworms devouring memories was like a demon driven by insatiable hunger.
Shang Xing resisted. If his memories were devoured by Bai Qi Wei again, he would once more have to endure days of not knowing who he was. Such days were agonizing; the world bustled with activity, yet he was utterly alone, coming and going in solitude. Moreover, he didn't want to be hurt by anyone anymore, neither physically nor mentally.
He was "Hell," possessing world-destroying power. Thinking of this, a fierce surge erupted from the depths of his soul, an unending torrent of power—the most desperate and darkest kind of power.
The memory Bai Qi Wei had just eaten suddenly exploded, blowing off his head. Bai Qi Wei's head fell to the ground, his eyes wide open, seemingly unaware that his body had been severed, still greedily chewing on something. But there was nothing in his mouth; his teeth bit down on his own tongue, chewing it. The headless body remained standing, taking no other action.
Shang Xing didn't want to get entangled with Bai Qi Wei. After all, the opponent was a true Angel, whose strength was unfathomable. He didn't want a direct confrontation that would invite trouble, so he circled past the headless body and walked towards Baron Ji Pi.
Baron Ji Pi cowered in a corner. Seeing him approach, he begged for mercy: "Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I will reveal everything to the world, I will tell all!"
Shang Xing glanced at Baron Ji Pi. Ye Xuan Yue and the two other young women's breathing had stabilized; they appeared normal.
The sky had begun to lighten. Bai Qi Wei's head made squelching sounds, unclear what it was eating, then let out a mournful, agonizing shriek: "I'm so hungry! I'm so hungry! I'm so hungry! My Bai Qi! Save my brother!!"
The headless body trembled and then fell to the ground. Bai Qi Wei's head suddenly turned towards Shang Xing, its mouth full of fresh blood, sending shivers down Shang Xing's spine. Bai Qi Wei said: "One day, I will eat you!"
This true Angel let out a bizarre laugh, and his entire body, including his head, gradually dissipated with the morning light. Day had fully broken.
Shang Xing breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Bai Qi Wei took no further action; he wasn't sure if he could kill the opponent. He used a hand chop to knock out Baron Ji Pi, intending to take him away.
Suddenly, a blaring trumpet sound erupted, sound waves transforming into a massive net that rushed from all directions, leaving him no escape. Within seconds, he was ensnared.
The Pope entered from outside, leading his clergy. Beside the Pope was the High Priest, holding the trumpet. He looked around the hall, seeing the scattered corpses, all killed by Shang Xing, then gazed at him with a mix of anger and sorrow: "Child, have you been possessed by a demon?"
Shang Xing looked at the trumpet in the High Priest's hand. The golden trumpet bore a sacred halo, emitting sound waves that could transform into a large net.
The Pope said: "Shang Xing, you killed Father Bi De, killed many church guards, and moreover, killed two Barons!" The Pope assessed him with cloudy eyes: "If the Angel hadn't sent us a message, we wouldn't have known you could escape the surveillance of Wu Bi!"
Shang Xing did not reply to the Pope, his fingers touching the net that enveloped him. The net wrapped tightly around his hand. He tried to tear it, but the net was as soft as water, utterly impossible to rip apart.
The Pope, feeling ignored, became utterly enraged, pointed at Shang Xing, and began a long lecture.
