Chapter 35
Hua Jian Will Never Love You Again
Everywhere lay the skeletal remains of demons, and blood soaked the earth. The heavens and earth were dark, and under the crimson light, Cang Jing stood drenched in blood. There was no expression on his exquisite face, but his amber eyes blazed with a gluttonous intent to kill.
Seeing Cang Jing like this, Hua Jian felt heartbreaking pain. He wanted to immediately hold Cang Jing, to kiss away the sins in Cang Jing's heart, and to soften the sharp thorns on Cang Jing's body.
The dense brambles rubbed against each other, making a piercing sound. At this moment, on this barren land, only he and Cang Jing stood. All the thorns thrust toward him, and the air was filled with the howling of death.
He approached Cang Jing step by step. Thorns pierced through his body, but he didn't care. While his body healed on one side, it accepted the tearing on the other.
He could forever endure the harm Cang Jing inflicted on him.
Cang Jing had lost control. He didn't recognize who he was killing; he was simply slaughtering, rage turning him into a killing machine.
His soul was manipulated. He didn't know how many demons he had killed. Blood splattered everywhere, landing on him and soaking into his soul, making it even more turbulent. This turbulence could only be resolved through slaughter. The more he slaughtered, the more turbulent and painful his soul became.
In his daze, he noticed someone passing through the barrier of thorns to stand beside him. But he couldn't see the person's face clearly. He instinctively resisted the person's closeness, and his thorns repeatedly pierced through the man's body. The man was torn apart, his hot blood splashing onto Cang Jing's face.
Yet, even though he killed the man countless times and tore him to pieces, the man could still come back to life. The thorns could not pierce the man's soul. In the end, Cang Jing stopped his movements out of sheer exhaustion.
The man stepped forward and hugged him. His chest, which had been torn apart by Cang Jing, had not yet fully healed. His hot, passionate heart beat wildly, and his warm blood wet Cang Jing's chest. Those agate-like eyes were so familiar.
"It's you," Cang Jing's hands trembled as he cupped Hua Jian's face, his voice carrying the looseness that comes after extreme tension. "My angel."
He collapsed weakly into Hua Jian's embrace. Hua Jian's warmth and scent temporarily suppressed the tide of slaughter.
He thought he could finally escape the agonizing torment of killing, but he felt invisible hands of lost souls reaching toward his body. The hideous faces of the demons he had killed reflected in his eyes, their mouths spewing terrible curses.
The curses were like bone-gnawing insects, slippery, damp, and sticky on his body, eroding and dissolving his body from within, and further destroying his soul.
"You killed so many humans, so many demons! You are covered in slaughter, and your sins are hard to erase! You can never be happy!"
He covered his ears in agony.
"Hell is filled with sin and evil. God has handed down punishment to all the demons of hell. The demons must bear the curses of those they killed. Zhu Mian, on one hand, is the ruler of hell; on the other hand, as a price, Zhu Mian must bear the sins for the demons. Zhu Mian is equivalent to the 'sculpting' angel of the Eighth Day Academy, becoming a tool for the lost souls to vent their anger."
"And you, Cang Jing, not only must you endure God's punishment on hell, but you also have to bear the torment of the Flower of Evil."
"Even as you suffer in the karmic fires of hell, Hua Jian can still care for you. However, your pain will not lessen. You will become even more hysterical, craving more love from Hua Jian to erase your pain. You want your pain to be compensated through Hua Jian. Over time, will Hua Jian still love you? Will Hua Jian still love you like a resentful woman?"
Cang Jing clutched his head, his fingernails digging into his flesh, trying to make the voice coming from nowhere disappear.
"Hua Jian will never love you again."
"No, Hua Jian has long forgotten you, hahaha."
Cang Jing: "Stop talking."
It turned out that the most painful curse was simply that Hua Jian did not love him.
Hua Jian held Cang Jing tightly. The person in his arms was trembling, hands clutching his head, fingernails digging into his flesh. He tried to pull Cang Jing's hands away, only to see Cang Jing shedding tears. The hot tears fell onto his chest, burning deep scars.
The Holy Light shone upon them. Hua Jian looked up at God in the high heavens. Behind the Holy Light, God let out a soft sigh:
"Angel of the First Day, give up. Even if you are together, you will not be happy. Do not refuse to let me destroy your memories. From now on, you will be in heaven, and he will be in hell. Everything will pass."
Hua Jian shook his head: "No..."
God: "Cang Jing is 'hell' and also Zhu Mian, and he even suffers the torment of the Flower of Evil. No matter how much you love him, he will still be in immense pain. This is his fate."
Hua Jian pleaded: "God, please let Cang Jing and me swap identities. Give his 'hellish fate' to me, and give my 'heavenly fate' to him. Let the Flower of Evil be forever trapped in the depths of my soul, giving it no chance to fish in troubled waters and enter Cang Jing's soul again."
God: "I should have told you about Cang Jing's origin. Cang Jing is the incarnation of all evil thoughts in hell; everything he has was stolen. If you want to swap identities with him, everything about you will be exchanged. You will bear his pain."
Hua Jian: "I am willing."
God: "If you accept the 'hellish fate', your personality will change. Because you are 'heaven', your malice would not be magnified by the Flower of Evil. Once you become 'hell', your negative emotions and malice will be fully magnified.
Once you become Zhu Mian, the punishment will be multiplied on you. Furthermore, after you become Zhu Mian, you must stay in hell. Will Cang Jing, having become 'heaven', follow you to hell? Even so, are you still willing?"
Hua Jian nodded.
God: "Ah, this love... Very well, I will swap them for you. However, Cang Jing is, after all, the incarnation of evil thoughts. Even if swapped, a portion of evil thoughts will still return to him, such as slaughter. The black mist of sin and evil will still be attracted to him. Even so, Cang Jing's pain will be reduced by more than half."
Upon hearing the latter half, Hua Jian wrapped his arms around Cang Jing's shoulders. Cang Jing had fallen into a coma, his brow furrowed tightly. Hua Jian only wanted to quickly ease Cang Jing's pain.
The Holy Light enveloped them, and their fates were swapped.
Gradually, Cang Jing's breathing stabilized, and his expression was no longer so painful.
At the same time, Hua Jian's soul endured the tearing of the lost souls, the vicious curses slicing through him over and over again.
