The Canary's Escape Plan

Hua Jian Found Him

Chapter 48

Hua Jian Found Him

Hua Jian had found him!!

But in an instant, Hua Jian's spectral figure vanished like an illusion. He inhaled the scent of Datura flowers in the air; the fragrance had faded but had certainly just been there.

What exactly was happening? A profound sense of unease surged within him. Had Hua Jian truly found him? Had he even been right beside him? Thinking too much was useless; he decided to take things as they came.

He looked at the waist-high sunflower garden. In the middle of the garden, one sunflower stood noticeably taller than the others, and a card was faintly hanging from its stem and leaves. Thanks to his body, which had been modified by the Angel Organization, he possessed extremely sharp eyes, allowing him to clearly see the four characters "Wedding Invitation" on it.

He stepped into the garden and examined the card closely. It was a wedding invitation, with only a single line of text on the back: "You are invited, Mr. Geng Wu, to attend the Demon Wedding."

Tian Che, the one wearing a sunflower mask, appeared like a gust of wind, took down the card, and presented it to Shang Xing: "Mr. Geng Wu, please accept this invitation. The wedding will take place tomorrow at the Sunflower Hotel. At that time, you are required to be present punctually."

Shang Xing stared at the blood-red invitation card. "Demon Wedding"—did the word "Demon" refer to the "Sunflower Demon"? Was the demon the groom or the bride? And who was the demon planning to marry?

Tian Che caressed his pristine white gloves, his voice from beneath the mask sounding incredibly pleasant: "Players must find the demon bride within five days. Otherwise, the game will fail, and the player will die."

Shang Xing took the invitation. So the bride's identity was still a mystery, and the player's task was to find her.

Tian Che continued: "Furthermore, players are strictly required to stay in their rooms at night. Since you are one of the final winners of the previous game, your unauthorized departure from your room tonight will not be pursued. However, I advise you to return to your room immediately, otherwise, the consequences could be dire."

Having said that, Tian Che vanished like a gust of wind once more. Shang Xing looked up at the building opposite; room number 5, which he had chosen, came into view. The floor-to-ceiling window he had once shattered was now restored to its original state.

The referee of the demon game had warned them to stay in their rooms, or they would face danger. But was it truly safe inside the room? In the silent space, Shang Xing pondered for a while. In any case, he couldn't just stand there, so he decided to return to his room and see.

Returning to the 5th floor of the hotel, Shang Xing passed rooms 1 through 4 of the other players. The pitch-black steel doors sealed off everything inside; not even a faint sound escaped.

He entered room number 5, and everything had been restored to its original state. There were no bloodstains on the window, and the armchair was back in its proper place. Only one thing was different: the bed was covered in pure white camellia flowers.

Shang Xing turned on the light and approached the edge of the bed. On the white wall at the head of the bed, blood began to ooze out eerily, as if someone was writing with blood. Finally, a line of text in blood appeared: "To my dearest bride."

As soon as he clearly saw the words, Shang Xing suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He had to brace himself against the bed to remain standing. A cold gust of wind blew across the back of his neck, feeling as if someone was pressed tightly against his body. He again smelled the strong scent of Datura flowers, the distinctive fragrance of Hua Jian.

His vision grew increasingly blurry. He felt someone embrace him tightly from behind, a familiar suffocating sensation that Hua Jian always brought. He no longer had the strength to resist, collapsing onto the bed, sinking amidst the forest of white camellia flowers.

In the final moments before completely losing consciousness, he clearly saw Hua Jian. Hua Jian lifted his face and kissed him passionately: "My darling, you are my bride."
