Chapter 34
The Movie King's Punishment
"I'll repeat myself once more."
When Qi Chuan grabbed her hair, he applied a bit more force, looking leisurely into her deep red eyes. His tone carried a sense of coldness, yet it sounded somewhat nonchalant.
"Do you want to lie on the experimental bed yourself, or... do you want me to drag you over?"
Xie An’s hand trembled as she raised it to grab his wrist. Her fingertips dug into the wound she had bitten, which was now dripping with fresh blood. Her mouth was still filled with the thick, metallic taste of blood—she didn't know if it was hers or Qi Chuan’s. Swallowing that stench, she curled her lips, her voice dry but her tone particularly sinister.
"You'd better not give me any chance to escape. Otherwise, I will definitely kill you."
As if being patient with a naughty child, Qi Chuan let out a soft sigh.
"Although I have never raised a pet before, in the beginning, I truly tried to be a good master."
He didn't care that Xie An was gripping his wound. With his free hand, he unhurriedly loosened his tie, pulling the black fabric out.
"I really don't understand."
"I saved you when you were on the verge of death, brought you from that filthy, chaotic environment to a safe apartment, let you wash away your wretched state, and even prepared so many clothes for you."
Qi Chuan’s gaze was calm. The black tie was wrapped around Xie An’s mouth. Xie An retracted the hand that was gripping him, instinctively trying to pull off the cloth covering her mouth. Qi Chuan saw the opportunity and pinned her directly beneath him.
"If you won't be grateful, so be it. Why must you insist on running away?"
Using two hands was always faster than one, even if... one of his arms was heavily injured.
"Failing to recognize your position, being disrespectful to your master—a spoiled little monster like you must be punished severely."
Xie An’s mouth was wrapped several times with the tie. Qi Chuan pulled it tight, the black fabric leaving marks on her pale face. Xie An struggled frantically beneath him, but she could not break the opponent's shackles.
Qi Chuan’s movements were very rough; he seemed intent on giving Xie An a lesson. Every movement was forceful. The wound on his hand bled out, dark red droplets of blood dripping onto Xie An’s face.
The scent of blood lingered around her breath. Her entire body's senses were focused on that warm sensation. Xie An recalled that sweet taste, and her cold body actually felt a moment of extreme heat. The hatred in her grey-white eyes slowly receded, replaced by a craving for food.
She felt hungry again.
Her throat moved unconsciously, and saliva filled her mouth. This time, the desire was even more intense than before. Her mouth was bound, so she couldn't drink the blood falling on her face, making her eyes turn a faint red from the agony of hunger.
Qi Chuan tied the knot at the back of Xie An’s head, noticing the change in her gaze. His brow arched slightly as he brought his injured wrist closer to her. The warm blood fell onto the tie, quickly vanishing. Xie An’s breathing became more rapid, and she couldn't help but stick out her tongue to lick the fabric.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she stuck out her tongue, it was caught by the man who had placed the tie. A smiling voice entered her ears.
"I haven't told you yet, have I?"
"Those who have tasted Zombie Blood will develop a strong dependence on blood from then on. You can understand it as a kind of addiction."
"As long as they smell blood, they will feel an unbearable hunger. Thus, out of survival instinct and the torment of hunger, they will frantically attack surviving humans."
"In their eyes, humans are just food to satisfy hunger, and also a kind of medicine that can relieve anxiety and pain simply by eating."
"All creatures act based on survival instincts. Seeking food and solving the survival crisis will always be the greatest issue."
"Your bodily functions belong entirely to a zombie, yet your thinking maintains human logic. I am very curious whether you will succumb to the biological survival instinct under this intense hunger."
Xie An clearly didn't hear much of what he said. Her eyes were locked onto his bleeding wrist, her grey-white eyes now even more dazed.
The corners of Qi Chuan’s mouth curled into a slight arc, his tone casual: "Will your pride be crushed by the sensation of hunger?"
He released his grip on Xie An’s tongue and rubbed her reddened eyes.
"If you don't learn to be good, then you must stay hungry."
Seeming to feel that this punishment was a bit harsh for Xie An, he suddenly leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"Don't disappoint me."
Xie An was stimulated by Qi Chuan’s blood to the point of extreme hunger; her head was filled with the idea of eating him. Qi Chuan ignored her resistance and forcefully dragged her to the experimental bed, binding her limbs tightly with straps. Then he walked back to the door to pick up the fallen scalpel.
Xie An struggled incessantly on the bed, the bed legs scraping against the floor and producing a dense, ear-piercing noise. After Qi Chuan finished disinfecting the scalpel, he paced to Xie An’s side, looking down at her wretched state.
The moment she saw him, Xie An’s resistance became even more violent, as if she were venting something. Qi Chuan lightly adjusted his glasses, his gaze calm. He leaned down and used the knife to carve out a small piece of muscle tissue from the site of her bite mark.
The pet he raised, even if her personality was temporarily atrocious, should not be incomplete. Therefore, while Xie An was starving during this period, he planned to research a way to make her stripped muscle tissue grow back.
Zombies have no sense of pain, but they still bleed when injured. The lowest-level zombies have no human thought; attacking humans is just to obtain food, and they are stupidly easy to kill. Higher-level zombies possess more intelligence and thus are particularly difficult for shelters to deal with. But whether it is a low-level or high-level zombie, wounds from attacks cannot heal.
Qi Chuan did not intend to let Xie An’s white bones show. A monster with a master and a stray zombie should, after all, be different.
The muscle tissue was placed on the research equipment. Qi Chuan looked at the wound on his own arm, thought for a moment, and decided to bandage himself first. Likely due to excessive blood loss, he felt a bit anemic; a trace of fatigue appeared on his cold face. He took two pouches of nutrient fluid from the medicine cabinet and drank them. After resting for a moment, he turned back to his research.
While he was immersed in his work, Xie An tirelessly made noise. Qi Chuan originally hated being disturbed during experiments, but thinking about the torture Xie An was currently enduring, and imagining her obedient appearance after being tamed, he felt that this noise wasn't too unbearable.
Until dawn, his experiment finally showed a hint of progress. He put down the tools in his hand. Hearing no sound from behind, he slowly stood up and paced over to look at Xie An on the bed.
Xie An’s pupils were dilated. Her pale face was mottled with blood and sweat, her black hair soaked and clinging to her face. Her wrists and ankles were bruised purple by the straps, and in some places, the skin had been rubbed raw, with traces of blood seeping out.
