Chapter 11
A Warrior's Instinct
Yu Li extended her cup. Madam Chu poured her another cup, watching her earnestly drink it all again. When Yu Li wanted a third and fourth cup, Madam Chu couldn't help but advise, "Li Niang, don't drink too much water; your stomach will get bloated."
This rough ceramic cup was not small; one cup of water was enough to fill the stomach, let alone three or four. How could her stomach bear it?
Madam Chu looked at Yu Li, seeing her thin and frail, worried whether this delicate body could handle so much water. She secretly wondered, did the Yu family not give her enough to eat? When the Yu family brought her here, she had already seen how thin she was; now she looked even thinner.
Yu Li heeded the advice. Although she still wanted to drink more, her current body was not the warrior's body of her previous life. Drinking so much water indeed made her uncomfortably bloated, and her mouth was filled with the taste of water.
Hmm, no smell of bleach or chemicals, that's good.
Madam Chu saw her hiccup and found it even more amusing, saying, "Li Niang, it's not morning yet. Go back to sleep."
Tonight was the wedding night, and she hoped Yu Li could stay with Fu Wen Xiao in the room. Perhaps if the two were close, Fu Wen Xiao would wake up tomorrow.
Yu Li was not accustomed to interacting with strangers, but thinking of Madam Chu's identity, according to the customs of this world, she was her mother-in-law, a future family member, so she obediently replied.
As she left the kitchen, Madam Chu suddenly asked, "Li Niang, how is Xiao Ge?"
Yu Li stopped and said, "He hasn't woken up."
Madam Chu was not surprised. Although it was an auspicious marriage, she didn't expect her son to wake up immediately after marrying a wife.
She sighed, worried, and returned to her room.
Yu Li also groped her way back to her room. The room was pitch black. There was an oil lamp, but she was new and didn't know the layout of the room. Moreover, the Yu family was originally frugal; her sisters shared a room without an oil lamp, completely lacking the concept of lighting one.
Yu Li fumbled her way to the edge of the bed, then slowly climbed on.
Even after drinking a lot of water, her body was still uncomfortable, her head heavy and her feet light. She just wanted to lie down and quickly recover her strength, avoiding the weakness that left her unable to even lift a large water vat, which made her very unaccustomed.
There was another person lying on the bed. Although this person had been unconscious for many days, would not wake up, and was not like the polluted creatures or mutated species that attacked her, she still found it difficult to adapt, always wanting to silence that faint breathing.
No, she couldn't make a move.
She warned herself, this person wouldn't turn into a polluted creature at any moment; there was no need to be constantly vigilant, no need to eliminate him immediately!
After a long while, Yu Li couldn't bear her tired body any longer. She finally closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Her sleep lasted until dawn.
A slight sound from outside woke her.
Yu Li opened her eyes and listened. She could hear soft voices outside, seemingly Madam Chu and the two children. Although the sounds weren't loud, she was very sensitive and could hear them from afar.
After a long while, Yu Li slowly sat up.
After a night's sleep, her body was finally no longer as weak as before, but when she clenched her fist, she found it was still soft as cotton, without strength.
This made her slightly disappointed. It seemed that after falling ill, people here couldn't recover quickly; it would take some time to regain their health.
The room was dimly lit. She tilted her head to look at the person lying on the bed, only vaguely making out his shape and face.
